2012 - Tony Schmidt Park

Submitted by ares on
2012 Clues

So its back to the drawing board for next year
to find a spot so deep and drear.
Harder to reach all you whiners
than those buried Chilean miners.

Next year's clues will inspire dread
requiring knowledge of languages dead,
Higher math rocket science
disbanding every hunters alliance.

I take your leave. I bid adieu.
I go in search of the perfect clue.
Prepare to hike hard dig deep and delve.
Will have a grand party in 2012.

So does that mean there's going to be a wait/line to buy a ticket on the last day?

What time do they start selling the ticket?

Even worse it sounds like "Rice Park" next to St Paul Hotel...this is officially the part of the hunt where I begin to lose it.

Haha... people on the Pioneer Press (prospero) board are convinced it's at Rice Park.

I mentioned it on an earlier post, but the CHarles Perry house still stands at the corner of County Road E and Lake Johanna. To be pointing to CP, seems now to be pointing to the southwest part of the park.

I think this clue is talking about Native Americans harvesting wild rice or cranberries in the area.

queenmalley

Early Fall is the time of the traditional wild rice harvest of the Ojibwe people, otherwise known as the Lake Superior Chippewa Tribe.

Of course that is Up North, the Como Park history has it as the Dakota, but Early Fall is the harvest time, which is in the clue.

I suppose this clue could be limiting it to the part of the park by the lake.

More people at Rice Park = more people not at the right park, which is fine by me. I'd fan the flames over there but I don't want to jinx anything like last year.

Darn.

All I really need to do is figure out the name for the 12th clue, lol.

Honestly though, I seriously doubt they have the file uploaded already.

Even if they did, they're the big leagues, if I touched that file, games over for everyone, they'd know. Certainly can't say I'm not tempted though, would be fun

Good to see you today Tater! I think its right over in the area we were talking about. I think Marley told everybody we ran into where he was thinking. See you out there tomorrow?

Interesting tidbit. Did anyone see the id3 tag on clue #8's song? It says "clue #8 (new #6) V1". All others have stated the clue number and a V1 or V2 (probably versions). But that one.. did they switch clues 6 and 8? and if so, I wonder what made them change positions?

I won't need warm clothes since it's going to be in the high

thirties. I'm going to Tony Schmidt in the morning.

Anyone looking at Chatham Trails Park?

To the west it is all marshland as far as I can tell. The trail continues over a frozen brook and heads up into the neighborhood where it hits Venus Rd. Another trail heads off to the east, to Valentine Lake I believe... but I didn't follow that one yet.

It's at battle creek. Last nights clue references the Holiday Inn off McKnight where the Indians rested before getting wild rice...

Btw Rob got his name mentioned on the KS95 morning show. He heard Ryan talking about the medallion hunt. They had some people on, one who thought it was in Rice Park, another who thought it was in Highland. Ryan wouldn't say specifically where the thought it was, but it was Highland based on the reasons he was giving for the clues. Nobody said Schmidt though which is good.

I called and told Ryan to please not tell everyone over FM radio where he thinks the medallion is just in case he was going to say TS park.

Smart move! Especially if anyone listening just decides to go out cause they heard it on the air. I was surprised to hear mytalk 107.1 morning show talk about it as well as i guess they went hunting for it too. Happily they didnt name a park. Was the first thinh they brought up at the start of their show!

I wondered about that and was concerned about that. I emailed them when I got in because of Melissa telling people that they should look up in the trees. I told them that it won't be up in the trees and that people could get hurt that way.

BTW that was a joke, I really don't think that. I've seen the light and will be hoping that I can get to a certain site in Arden Hills later.

"Especially if anyone listening just decides to go out cause they heard it on the air."

Spur-of-the-moment people have found it before. Plus, isn't there no school today in St Paul?

Also, last year's hunt, I watched the video at the hunt and the finder stated she had "just sat down to rest" and saw it there sitting on top of the snow. Of course the thought was that someone had shoveled it and tossed it with the snow!

Arghh. I went out late last night to TS, against my better judgement. I was afraid it was going to be a park confirmation clue with out any more specifics and now I'm feeling it. Going to keep the fluids going today at work to stave off a cold.

Glad to hear the masses are still split a little, but people could come to their senses today. The weather is going to pull people out today as well.

It's race time, folks!! Good luck to all!

People saw me out yesterday hunting. I haven't been out as much this year because of having a one year old. I'm getting out when I can and I'm super lucky that mommy is pushing me to get out more.

Has anyone seen Jesse hunting?

Question: are Perry and TS considered one regional park or two parks?

I think AW was trying to sort that out; a post yesterday.

I saw Jesse hunting yesterday, raking a hill near some picnic benches at TS. Jana and I were talking to him. I can't remember his name too, but the guy who lost the kids shovel stopped by too.

I think they are separate parks but I don't think I'm the right one to ask.

Was Lee in the park as a private citizen or doing a story on the Hunt?! If doing a story, that kinda nails it...
