Tempting...

I looked up the parks in Hugo, they seem to be about on par with Oakdale for amounts. If I go, I'd make a day of it on Saturday (assuming the hunt lasts that long).

That's for Hugo. Is it all one long clue or did someone fuck up and post 4 clues at once?

I heard on the radio yesterday - Rice Lake, WI is having a hunt. Aquafest runs June 7-17th

http://www.aquafestonline.com/index.htm

http://www.fox99.com/default.asp

Fox 99.1 (The Fox that Rocks) has been reading clues twice a day on the radio, but I haven't been following it too closely - and I cannot find any web site or link that follows up the clues. It's supposed to be $1000 cash or a $2000 EE-rated savings bond.

Oakdale 2012

Clue #1

Before we begin, letÂ’s get one thing perfectly clear.

Last yearÂ’s Clue number six fell not on deaf ear!

The response was so passionate, the feedback resounding

Ending this event appeared simply confounding.

Some rules are the same. Others remain unchanged:

You know the gig: to locate the medallion, no need to

Swim, climb or dig – really!

Crap. Oakdale was found yesterday.

The City of Oakdale only released two clues to aid residents in their hunt for the elusive medallion before it was found:

Clue 1: Before we begin, let’s get one thing perfectly clear. Last year’s Clue number six fell not on deaf ear! The response was so passionate, the feedback resounding Ending this event appeared simply confounding. Some rules are the same. Others remain unchanged: You know the gig: to locate the medallion, no need to Swim, climb or dig – really!

Clue 2: Entertainment it has been, entertainment it shall remain. Locating this yearÂ’s disc will involve much less pain. For parents, for children, for friends hereÂ’s a thought: BubÂ’s DaddyÂ’s and veggies so close could be bought.

But it was enough information for one person to find the Summerfest medallion on Tuesday in Bethke Park.

Sue Barry, city clerk, didn't know who the medallion winner was when Patch spoke with her this morning.

"Someone really must have been hunting, because we only released two clues," Barry said.

Hopefully they release all the clues. I was waiting for some decent weather to go look.... just goes to show ya....

Oakdale Hunt clues are up. I was even mentioned in Clue 3 (not sure on the other names, any other Coolers in there?)

SUMMERFEST MEDALLION HUNT CLUE EXPLANATIONS

2012

CLUE #1:

Before we begin, letÂ’s get one thing perfectly clear.

last yearÂ’s clue number six fell not on deaf ear!

The response was so passionate, the feedback resounding

ending this event appeared simply confounding.

Some rules are the same. Others remain unchanged:

you know the gig: to locate the medallion, no need to swim, climb or dig – really!

EXPLANATION: Clue #1 references the second-to-last clue given in the 2011 hunt. There was serious

question about whether or not the hunt brought enough value to the community and with this question came the

possible end of the Medallion Hunt. The Oakdale Business & Professional Association, after considering

several emails from Medallion Hunt participants, felt this was a community event well worth keeping.

The last sentence is a typical bit of information to help remind all hunters that there is no need to go through

extraordinary efforts to locate the medallion. This year, the Medallion, based on some emails received, is very

openly hidden. Finally, this clue begins with the letter “B” which becomes a critical piece of information in

cracking the code for the medallion location.

CLUE #2:

Entertainment it has been, entertainment it shall remain.

locating this yearÂ’s disc will involve much less pain.

For parents, for children, for friends hereÂ’s a thought:

BubÂ’s DaddyÂ’s and veggies so close could be bought.

EXPANATION: The first letter of the clue, the letter “E” is an early tip for those who might crack the park

name. Additionally, In the early and mid-1970Â’s at the southeast corner of present day Granada Avenue and

Stillwater Boulevard there was a small wooden building that served as a summer vegetable stand. Along with

fresh vegetables that were harvested from the huge gardens that were on the south side of Stillwater Blvd, this

local icon, Bethke’s Market, also served various candies and the popular rope of gum know as a “Bub’s Daddy”

CLUE #3:

Thanks for the emails, all the input was great.

Your inspiration has altered the Summerfest Medallion hunt fate.

Rich, Jessica, Mario, Mariano, Leighla, Ken, Michael, Jennifer, Ed, Jed, Gabby, Joel, Michelle,

Don, Liz, Laura, Dave, and Sherri, this clue is for you: you’re students of the hunt – you’re first in our hearts!

EXPLANATION: The first letter of this clue, “T” is the third letter in the name Bethke – the park where the

medallion was hidden. Also, the names noted in this clue are a tribute to those who, in 2011, took the time and

submitted wonderful email comments, suggestions and outright pleas to keep the Medallion Hunt alive. Truly,

without their input, the Medallion Hunt this year and in future years would have been unlikely. Thanks again to

those noted in the clue. The statement you’re “students” of the hunt combines with “first” in our hearts to

reference the First Student Transportation building that is just west of Bethke Park on Stillwater Boulevard.

CLUE #4:

HigbeeÂ’s the name; Isaac N.

Never heard of him?

Oh, where have you been?

From Dubuque he had come to Dubuque he returned.

A notebook chuck full of all he had learned.

No time to relax, no time to rest.

He surveyed Township 29, Range 21 West.

EXPLANATION: Isaac N. Higbee was the Deputy Surveyor who was dispatched from the land office in

Dubuque Iowa to survey what was then part of Wisconsin Territory and is present day Oakdale. In surveyorÂ’s

language, a “township” is simply a piece of land that is 6 miles by 6 miles: 36 square miles. The Range is

relative to Meridian lines. Much of present day Oakdale is in Township 29. By itself, Township 29 and Range

21 will be of little help. However, in clue #6, Section 19 will significantly reduce the geographic area and help

direct medallion seekers to Bethke Park. For those more interested, the property identification number for your

residence will normally begin with the Section number, followed by the township and then the Range.

CLUE #5:

Katy PerryÂ’s a superstar many would say

her songs inspire and brighten our day.

There seems some question regarding her name

Katheryn Perry, Katheryn Hudson: are they not one in the same?

The first and the last name mean very little, but the middle

name, now that is the real star in this riddle.

EXPLANATION: This clue was used to engage the younger generations who would certainly know the name

Katy Perry. With some easy research, the clue notes the real key is KatyÂ’s middle name: Elizabeth. Of course

the last half of this name, “beth”, is a real tip toward the park name Bethke.

CLUE #6:

Evading you yet? The clues leaving you blue?

LetÂ’s introduce Section 19 to the number four clue.

The American Indians slept in it and

Mr. Whipple shouted “don’t squeeze it”

CLUE #6:

Evading you yet? The clues leaving you blue?

LetÂ’s introduce Section 19 to the number four clue.

The American Indians slept in it and

Mr. Whipple shouted “don’t squeeze it”

EXPANATION: As noted in the explanation for clue #4, this clue requires a little research or knowledge about

Surveying and knowing your city in terms of Township, Range and Sections. Township 29, Range 21, Section

19, reduces the possible parks to a very few. As an added bit of information, the word teepee would be

derived from the clue of the American IndianÂ’s sleeping spot And Mr. Whipple who famously instructed

shoppers in his store to not squeeze the Charmin toilet paper (TP). This is the first reference to the exact

location of the medallion.

CLUE #7:

So, a little-known park, Bethke, is this yearÂ’s site.

We hope you were cautious and treated it right.

The park is a treasure itself, one everyone should see

The flowers, the trails the Teepee are free.

A Teepee you say? You canÂ’t be correct!

Oh, yes, we assure you, with wooden poles they did erect.

And inside the teepee, a log on which you may rest.

Attached to one end, the Medallion for 2012 Summerfest.

EXPLANATION: Typical of the last clue, this clue leads seekers directly to the medallion. On behalf of the

Oakdale Business & Professional Association, The City of Oakdale and Lillie Suburban Newspapers, we would

like to thank everyone for participating in this yearÂ’s hunt. Bethke Park is a lesser known park in the city but

certainly one that warrants a tour for its unique trails and amenities. If you have not had the opportunity to visit,

please do and as always respect this park as it is one more piece of our community that makes Oakdale such a

great place to live. Please join us again next year. As always, your comments and feedback are welcome and

appreciated. Send comments to: larry@larryeberhard.com

Hey guys - - Hastings Rivertown Days medallion clues are up. Worth 500 bucks if found with button. Rectangular plastic, with edina realty logo on it.

Clues thus far:

Clue 1:

Edina Realty has done it again

Hidden the Rivertown Days Medallion

Within City limits, you won't need a ladder, a shovel or pick.

Just open your eyes and you'll be the winner without any trick.

Clue 2:

Is it west young men, women & children this year?

Maybe north, south or east?

Put your search in a less populated area and forget about the feast.

Some of this is obvious, but then again, i've checked out each park in hastings to no avail. Help would be greatly appreciated
