It is strangely quiet everywhere online this year leading up to the hunt, what gives? Have people lost enthusiasm or has the press not promoted it as much?
sshh...keep the people at bay and leave us to find the treasure! I agree though, it doesn't seem as "hyped" as it usually is. I really hope this isn't a long standing tradition that because of "costs" the PP gives up!
Also, out of curiousity-does anyone else live on the far east side of SP like myself (Afton area?) Just wondering if I'm not the only nutball that spends 45 mins driving multiple times out to a park. Sometimes 2-3x a day!
Alright Ares! That is a drive as well! I work in the Pilot Knob/Eagan area so I am hoping to save some driving by sneaking out of work the 28th-the end if its not found by then.
It does seem quiet this year. Nothing going on in my Yahoo group. Little going on at the PP site. I wonder if the end of last year's hunt dampened enthusiasm? Or it may just be that people don't leave Facebook to post elsewhere anymore.
I agree, everyone EVERYWHERE is silent. I recall last year there was constant posts going on in all the forums before the hunt. I feel like I am the only one who keeps refreshing my browser for each forum but no luck. Personally I hate FB only because I usually acess it via phone and sprint hates my work building.
Yeah, even the Pioneer Press' Treasure Hunt Facebook page is pretty quiet.
Worry not though, I'm sure it's just the calm before the storm. Once a clue or two are out, the common "oh, there's a medallion hidden out in the parks worth 10K? I better go find it" crowd will start waking up then.
One thing is that with leap year last year (which doesn't affect January until now) the hunt is pretty early this year. Maybe people haven't quite realized that it's upon us.
I think years ago, everyone was on 1-2 boards and now it seems people are more spread out 5-6 boards plus facebook. I also think the amount of noodle posting is down and the number of lurkers is up.
I also think the PP has done a lousy job of getting their sh*t straight. Waiting til the last minute to clarify everything. Just a few days ago their treasure hunt page had last year's logo, screwed up dates, etc. You would think they would be on the ball after last years mess. :eyeroll:
Yea was my first time coming across something that was treasure box like! I made sure to grab one of my kids cool box and trinket to put with the note and little stuff. I broke the rule and kept that little box but i left a better box upgrade  wont mess with that stuff again, though was such a heart dropping moment!!!
I hope everyone has a fun and safe hunt this year. Wish I could make the PDG, but will not be able to make it. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone out in the parks. Good luck to all (CC)!
I bet the "use high tech gear" will be having to use a GPS eventually. On there website of how to make the medallion (http://www.twincities.com/treasurehunt/ci_22404572/2013-treasure-hunt-m…). there's this sentence ""My son said, 'Put a GPS in there,' " Hawkinson said. "There's no GPS in it." which made me think of it and I think it's a little hint, like in last year they told us to bring our rakes and it ended up being wrapped around leaves. "Reprise" is also another word for music, wonder if they'll be including something that relates to a song in a future clue.
Hmm.... not really sure if they would ever incorporate GPS usage in a hunt. Rose ville did for a couple years, but I think it gave people too much of an advantage. Granted, staying in the Ramsey line... think they'd put the medallion right on the edge of that line somewhere?
I went back and re-read the clue after I had my inital freaking out because its live moment. :goofy:
I am thinking its pretty basic. Reprise=Repeat, a park previously hidden and Don't hunt in a place where you play a round-round of golf. Don't hunt on the golf course.
So back to the thoughts- Como, BC, and Highland so far I am thinking. Though if I read into the video that was posted I get the feeling the parks that were named are the ones to rule out. So there I would get my "no como" wish!
Hello Cooler Crew! Geesh its taken me forever to get things in order this year. I just wanted to say HI and I've missed you all so much! Hope everyone is doing well, healthy, and ready for some fun. I was able to add some of you to my FB so its been a pleasure to be able to chat with you throughout the year. Brassmonkeys beautiful baby boy is getting so big! Jakes political rants give me a great morning chuckle, and sometimes healthy debate. Hi Mike & Sue, you too certainly keep moving in the summer! Anyway, Riddlin" and I (AKA Curt) are hoping to make it out tonight to see some of you and as always we would love to make the Rehash Bash. Let's hope I have a reason to make another beautiful cake this year! So here's to the Crew and let's have some fun and take the Puck home for the team!
I agree, I am really liking the new CW. I looked at the last years explanations and the CW really had alot to the first clue as well. Though this year, really seems to add more muster.
Only clue 1 and I am already feeling like its highland. I am trying to think if those years/parks mean anything from that video. Time to noodle on that...
Guess is on Indian Mounds
I tried a few different times today and was told I already had maxed out my submissions the first time. I wasn't sure when the daily timer flips.
It's almost as bad as trying to find the actual thing....
Nope, unless their banner image is wrong.

For us its fun, for the press it's work at their job.
So last year's hunt proved pretty tough,
Filled with red herrings, bluster and bluff.
Expect more reprise in this year's hunt.
Use high tech gear, but no cheating stunt.
The outer limit is the Ramsey line;
On public land you'll do just fine.
Don't hunt in a place where you play a round.
Don't dig deep holes or tear up the ground.
