2013 - Cherokee Heights Park

Next year would be great! In 15 years, Joseph's by far is the best venue in my opinion.

So far this is the information the PP has given us on previous medallion locations, whether it's significant or not not quite sure?

Video:

2009 - last time hidden in swede hollow park

2003 - 7th time in como

1996 - 4th time in harriet island

2008 - last time hidden in indian mounds

Random Article:

Como - 7 times

Highland/Battlecreek- 5 times

Cherokee - 4 times

Shortest Hunt - 3 days, which was in 1975, 1980, and 2007

80% of hunts since 1991 have continued a week or longer

71 men and 54 women have found the medallion

The same team found the medallion twice, in 2007 and 2010

I heard from the Winter Carnival cache hiders that there were random footprints at Lilydale, not really going anywhere, and not near existing caches.

Can't help but see a theme around "repetition" between "reprise" and all the references to numbers of times it's been at various parks in the video and the "Hunt by the Numbers" article. But how helpful would that hint be? Maybe they're all early diversions--might be somewhere it's never been hidden this time 'round?

Isn't it?! In years past it's release has corresponded with the Hunt. It was supposed to hit MN last week, but now I'm hearing it's not getting here 'til next week. Hoping to enjoy some while noodling before things are done.

Keep in mind the first [official] clue (not random stats, crazy Hitler/Charlie Chaplin masked videos) does write "red herring."

"Red herring is an English-language idiom that commonly refers to a type of logical fallacy in which a clue is intentionally or unintentionally misleading or distracting from the actual issue. It is also a literary device employed by writers that leads readers or characters towards a false conclusion, often used in mystery or detective fiction.

The origin of the expression has a number of theories. Conventional wisdom has long been that it originated from a supposed technique of training hounds to follow a scent, or of distracting hounds during a fox hunt."

...but then again, the red herring could be the red herring. Clue seekers won't consider the random stats/distracting videos because of the red herring reference in the first clue. In essence, the red herring statement could be the red herring.

There is a book: Twelve Red Herrings (or 12 Red Herrings), a 1994 short story collection by British writer and politician Jeffrey Archer. Archer challenges his readers to find "twelve red herrings", one in each story.

Aren't there 12 clues? Maybe there is one clue hidden within each of the 12 clues. Such as one letter and after twelve clues that one letter is a word; one word is taken from the end of each line that adds up to a word, etc. Experienced Med hunters know what I am referring to.

Clues past the clue writer has liked this concept of "hidding" a clue within a clue.

This was really a nice to do: A Medallion was buried with longtime treasure hunter "Santa Dave" Young in 2007.

Perhaps the first rule of mock hunting applies here as well. Never trust the cluewriter. Outside of the clues that is.

Has anyone checked the marker yet?

Technically it is in public land in Ramsey county.

So of the parks listed, all but Swede has been a multiple hide park. CW promises us duplication.

We should use our high tech gear to help us find the puck, how would I know as an everyday kicker that It's only been in swede once and all the others multiple times? Conveniently enough pp put a new interactive map next to the clue for us to see. That would be the high tech---use your computer not the paper.

That would be if one believed the pre-videos aided in the clues at all.

Not me.

I like the idea that reprise is the key word here... repeat, repetition, OR is muscial terms it means go back to the start (Highland)

I like all the repeat theories tossed out so far.... I'm thinking with the mention of county line being the limit that the repeat is that it's outside SP city limits again this year (or maybe it's my wishful thinking).

Just my thoughts, but what I think...

There's construction at Phalen so I'm thinking they wouldn't hide it there and Crosby doesn't seem like a good spot either since there's a few dangerous spots there as well (icy trails and dangerous paths on the side of hills they might worry about people being hurt on)....so I'm ruling both of those parks out at the moment. I would also rule out Battle Creek, Lilydale, and Tony Schmidt since they have been used to the last 3 years.

On a stretch I would say it's not going to be either at Swede Hollow, Como, Harriet, & Mounds since they mentioned them in the initial video. They also say in their article this morning that it's been found most in Como, Highland, Battle Creek, and Cherokee, so I'm adding Cherokee and Highland to the list also.

They went outside of the norms last year so I really don't think they'd do that again, but never know with the word "reprise" and the mention of the limits this year, although I am still saying no.

So....Hidden Falls is at the top of my list...

<---- is still waiting for them to hide it in the same park two years in a row. That would be one hell of a reprise.

So last year's hunt proved pretty tough,

Filled with red herrings, bluster and bluff.

Expect more reprise in this year's hunt.

I think these three lines mean expect this year's hunt to be pretty tough again, similar to last year.

FYI only once in the history of the hunt has it been outside the city limits two years in a row...Possible that the reprise is that the CW is going to make reference to a previous hunt within the clues as CW did last year. CW is already on that vein by talking about last year...Just my thoughts.....

Size Rank 88, out of a total of 86 counties in Minnesota. Ramsey County is larger in area (square miles) than -2 counties in Minnesota.

I don't normally like to spam others ideas, but someone on the pospero boards (shoreviewD) brought up a intresting thought:

the deed is done video-draw lines using the parks mentioned and it forms a wedge that surrounds the downtown area --Spock eyebrow up, "interesting".

The Bond toon video & Clue #1- From St Paul (Russia) with Love, and Outer Limits Tv show from 1963 50th anniv. '63 hunt was hidden on public land not a park

I have thought it could possibly not be in a park this year only due to lack of snow/would really be a turn since its been in a "park" for so long. On that note, I know we shouldn't pay attention to anything other than the clues itself, but this whole "repeat" pattern they are doing just feels like it is supposed to mean something.

God I need clue two.

I am needing the next clue. This crazy waiting between clue 1 and 2 is painful. I would rather wait until Saturday night to get the clue.

ok.. I have to admit I need to go to Walmart for household items but, my car never made it there. It had a mind of it's own. It drove to Conway, Beaver, Chair O Key!, and Lilydale. It kinda like when my car re parks itself when I come out of a Store. This time of year it just drives itself to all these dumb parks....LOL

Although Como is always on my radar and it's been there a record (I think) 7 times and the last time was 2003 and it's 2013 for a reprise year, I do think it's in an outlying regional park not set in St. Paul proper.

I think the last couple of years I haven't bothered watching or listening to any audio or video clues until after the hunt only because they ARE such a distraction and you can't help but try and make them fit with the clues.

I don't think anything has ever to be proven as an actual hint in the videos... so I'm trying to avoid them.

pulling back on the mental reigns... well at least for the first 2-3 clues :pbpt:
