I still have KT's map of Malarkey Park which I think dates from the same year as Crosby.

Oh, how could I have been late to pop in here when "Happy Holidays" likely refers to my favorite movie?

Characters/actors: Jim Hardy (Bing Crosby), Ted Hanover (Fred Astaire), Lila Dixon (Virginia Dale), and Linda Mason (Marjorie Reynolds).

I'm pretty sure it was Crosby and Reynolds who sing that particular song in the movie.

No, it's not Dale and Crosby, it's Reynolds and Crosby.

That may or may not make any difference, since Dale is in the movie too. Maybe it's wrapped in Reynolds wrap foil?

"Council" in the clue reminded me of "bluffs," as in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

My guess is that if it's at Crosby, which I believe it is, it's going to be hidden very deep into the park in a very hard to find spot. Afterall, it's only Clue 2 and the CW may have given us the park already, so it's probably not going to be right around the pavilion area. I'm going to go out and look for it right now again!

You know, the video and that article that the Pioneer Press posted, included almost every park except Hidden Falls and Crosby, and they just so happen to be right next to each other.

Kemmons Wilson, who founded the "Holiday Inn" motel chain in 1952, named them after this movie.

Happy Holidays originally composed by Irving Berlin (the Bing/REynolds version)

Happy Holidays/Its the Holiday season recomposed by Kay Thompson (the Williams/Thompson version)

Isn't the Holiday Inn by BC the first one that ever opened? Wasn't there some story someone had last year about some settler founding it on the wagon trail to Madison back in the pioneer days or something like that.

Quick noodle before my flight takes off. Could these clues be a musical hint? Instead of our "repeat, reprise" angle instead be music and then next the holiday pair aka holiday song? Could this be in reference to somewhere with music? Rice, Harriet, etc? Many parks still fit that though. :eyeroll:

I need the next clue.

Maybe it's hidden in the holiday lights in the park cd, maybe the new puck shape is a flat puck lol. I agree with Terry- need clue 3

Nope, according to Wikipedia "The first Holiday Inn opened at 4941 Summer Avenue in Memphis, the main highway to Nashville, in August 1952 as Holiday Inn Hotel Courts. The motel was demolished in the early 1990s, but there is a plaque commemorating the site."

My noodles today also put me on the exact track as Mikey ....PLUS isn't McKnight road the "city limit" of the Ciry of St Paul putting the dog park and water park in the Outer limits/Maplewood? and could high tech actually refer to 3M?

very smart. in a reprise you repeat a theme. so they are repeating the music theme. gave away for a song, ...

Okay parks with music

como,

central

harriett

raspberry island

rice

mears

phalen

snail lake

highland

almost all parks with a rec center have music programs sometimes

I don't know of music at BC, HF, IM, Lilydale, or Crosby anybody know of music at these parks?
Mon, 01/21/2013 - 6:33 PM Permalink
SNAKE88

Neck says Como
Mon, 01/21/2013 - 6:43 PM Permalink
Terry

Most rec centers have music activities/classes for all ages. I would think of music as something that is performed like it is at Como or Harriet Island, Raspberry Island, Mears, etc.

Im not tying myself to it, but so far seems to make sense with the red herring as crosby. Plus the christmas tree 3m does with their lights?

Of course Ill think something different tomorrow...

 my thoughts exactly! I'm not tying to anything yet! :goofy: it was just what I came up with also, so after you said it I thought I would agree and add my other couple connections. It can make sense and I like to try and think outside the box early in the clues and not get set on one park right away...and tho I thought Crosby before clue one even came out (and would love it to be there) todays clues and my noodles brought me to that outcome, with Crosby and Como being the red herrings .... but we will see soon enough! ... so here we go on another year and another puzzle/hunt

The cluewriter needs a little redemption since the last 2 times it was hidden at BC it was found in 6 and 7 clues. But the second time it was Mikey's fault.
