OPEN
10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Today's Species: Polar Bear
and pocket some green ...the puck has a green tint to it.
Clue 2: first two lines to mess with us ...inside or outside city limits..hence..purposely not narrowing it down
There will be thin ice signs..
If there is a golf course stay off of it
and don't cut through peoples yards when you have to get to the area your looking at to dig ( as in Central park people were cutting through yards)
Clue 3: Down by Old Sandy! So we are to be looking for something down by OLD SANDY. Taking old Sandy to be Como Lake ..what is down there that would be handy???????
There is a Car Charging Station for your Electric Car! That would come in handy!
Giving them fits..blah blah is the Charlie Pitt story confirming Como.
Plus the marriage equality act was a big news headliner (rainbow is symbol of gay rights); the CW likes to insert a big news event of the year. I was thinking a Dome reference, but the Rainbow + marriage equality act and the Rainbow run thru Como is good noodle.
yeah cause that changes the starting point to a completely different area, i wonder though, right after beginning the race there is the 'como park fire pits' - After giving them fits He was mired in the pits" and the end of the race is right in the como park fire pits as well
PLUS it's got the Color Vibe, is that the same as Rainbow Run? My daughter runs the Color Run, but in Mpls (and my son photographs it for newspaper) and there are colors everywhere on everybody
I still like my street reference/rainbows noodle. But being that the Marriage Equality has been in the news this past year, the clue could mean several of those events:
Como events- Pride Picnic, Rainbow Run, Conservatory also did some special preparations for Aug weddings.
true, it just seems so fitting though that there's a giant leprachaun mascot at the end of the race cheering people on,and there's tons of people wearing rainbow tee shirts in all the pictures
okay screw it, i'm not going to find anything sitting on my butt in this warm room....i'm going out there in this shithole, wish me luck! i'll let you know in about 5 hours what i find!
Is anyone else seeing rows of winter carnival buttons in the background here? They are obscuring the lower part of the page, including the Post my Message and Read Next buttons. I'm reading on an iPhone.
I had to pop out this morning and just wanted to say...It's very cold and windy out there! If anyone is going out, be sure you are all covered up including your face. Stay safe!
Screw that, lol, i lasted like an hour out there, it was just too much snow to look around, even if someone told me within a football field where the medallion was i wouldn't be able to find it out there
I was wondering about the "back in 5 hours part" on a day like this. Especially with not much to go on yet. The year Jake found the medallion in 3 clues, there was virtually no snow at all (just enough so you could see a footprint) and one person could cover a large area by just looking around. That isn't the case this year and I think heading out to dig today will be a fruitless adventure unless you get super lucky. Strategically it would be better to save your energy for Friday.
what about the Wabasha Street bridge being named the "Freedom to Marry Bridge" and all the rainbow flags that were hung on it? Also lots of sandstone down by the river?
For sure. I am still fine tuning my medallion hunting strategies. Clearly this is not a good day to go out. I'm thinking this hunt will go to the last few clues for sure. I saw only 3 hunters and I was the only one anywhere near the West Side/East Side pavilion areas. There weren't even very many footprints in that area. I just want to find it so badly!
Any mention of Marydale brings back my most embarrassing hunt memory. My hunting partner [R.I.P.] was a bus driver at the time and he had aced out Marydale on the 2nd clue [the "no dumping" signs] as he drove by that corner every day. Armed with that info I invited the BF at that time to learn about treasure hunting and on day 2 night hit the park ...making the very first footprints there. Full of enthusiasm, my BF ran ahead of me and stopped to shine a flashlight into a metal bedpost pipe in one of the dumped piles there, despite the signs. Showing him what not to search in, I picked up another rusty metal pipe from the same pile of debris and said, with pompous conviction, "Never search inside something like THIS. You can get cut and the medallion will NOT be in anything that could be dangerous."
...the treasure was later found in a metal wheel from that same dump pile.
Excellent catch about the lap race, it fits "begin again" wonderfully.
I'm new to this so I'm probably wrong, but I'm not sure about the Charlie Pitts thing. The clue says "mired in pits", which is a long way from something along the lines of "pits mired in sandy". Further, clue 3 reads to me like a location or boundary clue and if it is in Como, that clue is saying the medallion is between old sandy and wherever "he" is.
Everything else seems to make sense, I'm just not sure "he" is Charlie Pitts.
Full Disclosure: This isn't Lizzy, this is her boyfriend. She's been hunting for many years and took me along for the first time last year and got me hooked.

Clue 4: Rainbow could mean the Rainbow run and or the butterfly exhibit that said: http://mypixelatedoasis.blogspot.com/2009/08/butterfly-party-como-park-conservatory.html Butterflies are like winged rainbows!
I am convinced it is Como!
I don't want it to be there...but it is what it is. :ooh:

I wonder if "begin again" could be a reference to "Finnegan Begin Again"? An Irish name leading us to Shamrock?
RAINBOW CONNECTION
 Kermit the Frog
Why are there so many
 Songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side
 Rainbow's are visions
 They're only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
So we've been told and some chose to
 Believe it
But I know they're wrong wait and see
Someday we'll find it
 The Rainbow Connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me
Who said that every wish
 Would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star
 Somebody thought of that
 And someone believed it
And look what it's done so far
 What's so amazing
 That keeps us star gazing
What so we think we might see
Someday we'll find it
 That Rainbow Connection
The lovers the dreamers and me
Have you been half asleep
 And have you heard voices
I've heard them calling my name
Are these the sweet sounds that called
 The young sailors
I think they're one and the same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
There's something that I'm supposed to be
Someday we'll find it
 The Rainbow Connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me
