Submitted by ares on

That is kinda helpful- Thanks!

My observation:

Original Japanese Garden:

Opened in 1905 on the northern

shore of Cozy Lake

Maybe that is part of clue 1-- mostly referring to the NORTH and the GREEN parts of Clue 1

Beckoning to you from afar

From the splendid mansion's door

A vision causing soul to soar.

if the mansion door is the west gate of como, beckoning from afar may be the stone bridge and you have to pass the soaring eagles ride to get there (east side)

or the "opening below" bridge from 2001?

In 1936, E. E. Englebert bought two lots of the former estate on Mississippi River Boulevard which included the original massive brick and ornamental iron entrance gate to the mansion. He donated the gate to Como Park and in 1937 the Works Progress Administration had it reinstalled as the west gate to Como Park at the intersection of Hamline Avenue and Midway.

Another survivor of Stonebridge also relocated to Como Park, the namesake of the Frog Pond, the sculpture of a granite bullfrog.

FROGPOND!

What about the East Gate?

From there you see the whole expanse [vision causing soul to soar] of the Lake and the Pavilion ...which looks like a mansion.

I still like the Rainbows [3 large ones] on the Rainbow Child Care Center [re-start at the beginning] with the sidewalks, making an arrowhead in front of a stone like monument or headstone with a large Rainbow on it, that are pointing to Como Avenue which leads to the East gate.

They also point to Front and Calvary Cemetery on Front as Front and Como actually cross each other like an X [the former drugstore that nestles in the 2 streets as a triangular building in the cross-point of the X, later a Pizza place, is now an Antique store and furniture refinishing]...And Calvary has rather large ornate gates ...[If fooled, just begin again.] The gates to the cemetery fit the concept of the Gates of Heaven and "In my Father's House are many mansions..."

The correct Greek word translates to "Dwelling places" but the popular Latin translation/usage is mansions.

Does not account for the "moving from star to star"

(The fist thing I thought when I read that line was "paparazzi". The old Pizza triangle has moved across the "X" to Como/Dale corner and is a "John's" pizza

Just realized the 3 streets, Como, Front and Dale form a star at their intersecting * :ooh:

Nice noodling.

the other intersection in the area that does that criss-cross thing sort of like a star is the intersection of Como, Wheelock, Victoria, Maryland. So if you moved from the Dale/Front/Como intersection west along Como, you would come to the next "star" intersection.

BOOM!

Terry

Is that a good boom or a bad one?

I don't think Casey was shot ...he walked back to his pit by himself. The footprints were painted on the sidewalks for some time after - Casey's famous "stroll"

Green Jeans was on Captain Kangaroo ...Casey had Roundhouse Rodney

A good BOOM! A brilliant BOOM! maybe a tad lesser than my Schiller post just now

I was just checking. Didn't want to think I was being shot at.

I sure hope tonight's clue has more meat to it.

Just dug up all around West Gate.....nada-- but I did get plenty of fame as that intersection was quite busy at one point! Perhaps somewhere in that area though-- Very helpful connections though-- I am convinced it's at Como, at least until the next clue.

Well, there's the rail.

The new beam which some cheer is euphoric

But old site's rail was once historic

............ will deplore

............ denying no more

I think it's on the street somewhere near downtown.

Something about how some will cheer and some will deplore the site this year, as in cO NO!

new beam = light rail

Maybe this is about the street car building at Lexington. There is an arched bridge that stands just east of Lexington behind that building.
Thu, 01/23/2014 - 8:47 PM Permalink
Tatergirl

I think it's acknowledging the new light rail but want you to think historic --- old streetcar museum
Thu, 01/23/2014 - 8:47 PM Permalink
Terry

The light rail line is a good mile south of Como. I'm thinking, if it is indeed in Como, it would be more about street cars and the old rail.
Thu, 01/23/2014 - 8:48 PM Permalink
Terry

Tater - I think we are on the same wave length about that.

It's funny that we are interpreting the clue without a full line figured out from the scrambled somes we were given.

Terry

I missed this and had to slog back. You are good at this.
Thu, 01/23/2014 - 8:51 PM Permalink

Isn't a terminus of the light rail the old, historic train depot?
Thu, 01/23/2014 - 8:53 PM Permalink
Terry

Union Depot downtown.

I bascially enlarge and print the words, cut them up and start re-arranging them like a puzzle.
Thu, 01/23/2014 - 8:54 PM Permalink

Or Bandana Square!!

I think that used to be a train station!
Thu, 01/23/2014 - 8:55 PM Permalink
Terry

I try doing that in Word, but the cut and rearrange obviously works better.
Thu, 01/23/2014 - 8:55 PM Permalink

I'm going with the depot downtown.

I was near McMurray field today-- you can see it clear as day!
Thu, 01/23/2014 - 8:58 PM Permalink

It wasn't all that long ago they dug them up from University Ave.

The street car used to also run past Swede Hollow and through Phalen - all over the city.

The theater within the McNally Smith Musical College is called Historic Theater, rainbow flags on Wabasha bridge, Old Science Museum is new Scientology, St. Paul Public Housing Agency, Two historic churches, Green Line rail star to star, Fitzgerald theater: All within a two block radius. I may be going completely mad, but I'm not really even TRYING to make the clues fit anymore, they just are (even scrambled) Lots of public land right there!

Either that, or I've already gone over the edgeÂ… just like I do every year!
Thu, 01/23/2014 - 9:03 PM Permalink
Tatergirl

Alright here's my best shot

The beam which some cheer is euphoric

But rail was once old and historic

What some new site's some will deplore

Once some will; there's denying no more.
