2015 - Snail Lake

Tatergirl

I'm always looking for a double meaning to a clue:

Rags to riches - while it's an obvious nod to Ragsdale, could also be a clue to a historical name that made his own fortune - many come to mind. Or maybe a sight reference - lottery billboard.

Cast/stitches = hospital (current or former site of). Ancker hospital was near HI, Gillette was at Phalen.

I think it is in (white) casting material.

I like the idea of it being stitched together in rags as a tribute to Ragsdale...

I like that the hunt has started. I will be much happier when clue 2 comes out.

I have spent the day trying not to over think the first clue.

Nice noodles!

"Rags to riches" also reminds me of the musical "Annie"; they made a new version recently.

I think Rags To Riches was writ by Elvis Presley.

Elvis is one of my favorite performers of all time. He writ nothing. Credits to Adler and Ross.

We're caught in a trap, we can't walk out, because I love you too much baby....

Why can't you see, what you're doin' to me....

Dha dah dah dut dah, da da dut Dah...

That is one of my favorites - but my wife hates it... My absolute favorite is:

People, don't you understand? The child needs a helping hand

Or he'll grow to be an angry young man some day

Take a look at you and me, are we too blind to see?

Do we simply turn our heads and look the other way?

--Which is weird - because it is so much different than what I typically like to listen too (Loud and Fast)

Honestly Rob, Up until now, I thought the level thing was a coincidence. I think this is your tah dah moment. Good for you, in the kindest way that can be said.

On a cold and grey Chicago morning another little baby child is born...

Apologies for the off topic but Z man intrigued me.

Both my wife and I LOVE suspicious minds. Not for the topic, but we both remember the performance from the concert movie,as well as Elvis, Aloha from Hawaii, the first nationwide satellite broadcast of a TV sow. Via Telstar! That is how you put on a show.

And for the record, I have an awesome Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath collection.

I only made E-3. I can't decode that.

Last year they said "getting back to our genes" in the 1st clue.

It was hidden in a jeans pocket.

Then coincidently Mrs. Gene Swenson (Gene S = genes) found the medallion in Como park in 1965.

I feel like they gave away the park 1st clue last year.

Stitch and cast could very well be a hospital reference.

Old Gillette at Phalen, VA across river from HF.
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 8:36 PM Permalink
Terry

Could also be the old Mounds Park Hospital - now Cerenity.
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 8:41 PM Permalink
Brassmonkey

Yes terry, thanks forgot that one
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 8:48 PM Permalink
Terry

But if we are in and out of the box, IM doesn't fit.

Phalen and Battlecreek fit if clue one refers to city and county
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 8:49 PM Permalink
Brassmonkey

Yeah, agreed. Although it may just be an indication that we are out of Saint Paul altogether this year.

Who could measure the lust for treasure? Ok I hate scrambled clues, not my strong suit. :coolfrown:

I've given up making sense of this scramble.

When I saw the word foul, I was thinking baseball fields - in and out of the box?
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 8:54 PM Permalink
MrsMGhunter

Lol thanks! Made it a few years ago 😀
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 8:55 PM Permalink
Brassmonkey

Fouled could be a bird reference, need to see it in the clue.
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 8:56 PM Permalink
Brassmonkey

It sounds like they are saying that the medallion is secured and they took into account the warm weather.
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 8:57 PM Permalink
MrsMGhunter

Fouled is dirty and food in the clue- green doughnut mistake? Lol
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 8:57 PM Permalink
Terry

Lust? I had to go back to the scrambled wondering how I missed that word. I didn't it's not there.

I am usually better at scrambles, and this one should be easy, but something is off for me tonight.

I think it may have to do with being tired and knowing these get more difficult as the hunt goes on and we usually just end of waiting for the unscrambled version.

Brassmonkey

Now and again, the plans of men

are fouled beyond measure

but rest assured

wedged is our word

weÂ’ve well secured the treasure

Looks close, from the PP boards
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 9:01 PM Permalink
MrsMGhunter

Hmm, now I went back and looked you're right! I see someone else thought of my line too on the PP board, I'm loosing it lol think it's best to wait too, save the over thinkng when it makes sense

MrsMGhunter

Nice! now I'm really sticking with phalen for now! I'm thinking it references the whoops moment of the doughnut

Sun, 01/18/2015 - 9:03 PM Permalink
Brassmonkey

I don't think it's right, it's close.
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 9:06 PM Permalink
Terry

The layout of that isn't quite right.

Usually folks would say something like Rest assured, my word is good.

I like the result though - much better than anything I was getting.

Measure and treasure - assured, word, secured are rhyming words. Assured and secured likely the two.

wedged fits with golf course
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 9:06 PM Permalink

I'm deciding the best time to go out and start searching, beginning to get that itch. But must pace myself so I don't burn myself out lol. Clue 2...parks still up in the air obviously I must wait.

Pigs eye has the waste water facility right there.
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 9:18 PM Permalink

Being I don't work tomorrow, we will be doing some scouting parks, but this is wide open yet.
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 9:18 PM Permalink
zephyrus

why? - good time to get out... Even if just to drive around and get a "feel" for the parks... see whats new
Sun, 01/18/2015 - 9:18 PM Permalink
Terry

We did drive through Como this evening. Thought about heading over to Phalen, but decided against that until tomorrow.
