The high bridge comes to mind as an arch, but it's obviously not a natural one. I drove around there yesterday, up Shepard Road and then back down the Lillydale/Harriet Island side. I still like Lillydale, although there were no kids on sleds.
In the discussions around the "Are fouled beyond measure" clue, I haven't seen this use of the word discussed. Grabbed this from a Harriet Island brochure: “But as sewage fouled the river, people turned away and the park languished into disuse.”
Perhaps that quote originated from a story I heard that at one time. There was a public bath off Harriett Island for the cities poor. If I remember correctly, it was shut down in the early 1930's. I really don't remember where I heard it, though.
there has been a lot of plans for that old building at Bruce Vento, by the parking lot - but they are deciding to tear it down... I was a student of someone in a group that wanted to use it as an Ojibwe Immersion School (one of the groups that wanted to use it...)
Very different hunt this year... very little snow and nice temps. With St. Paul schools being off this Friday - I hope it's not found early like BC 2006.
I know a lot of people are inferring this to be a natural arch, but I see this as two separate clues. I think the arch is more likely a long distance observance from where the puck is hidden.
The "Nature's work" is more of a reference to the exact park.
For example, Arch of High Bridge visible from many possible park locations and limiting to those only, and then the Nature's work puts you in the exact one of them.
It's fun to be noodling again! Hope to see you all out there soon. Good luck to you all!
I agree Gilby.... an arch did he spy -- like it's far away but seen from the treasure's location.
Nature's work high over a trail -- reminds me of the nature gobbles up man's silly frills from the Cherokee hunt - meaning the tree growing around the wire fence. Some natural feature that will make sense once we see it.
They create biopolymer which is seen in those products listed in that website. Could it be in a "mold" or in one of their products. Are closet rod holders made from it? lol
So its saying its in one of their products high over a trail? Nestled in a tree that is still reachable or a bush?
Maybe it's BC.
It could e a natural arch from trees or such.
With the sled reference, I would think a sledding hill nearby.
but what do I know, I'm only a boy...
But it is only in one box...if clue 1 was about in the county AND the city.
Sledding hills in Ramsey County - they list only 7, but this is not an official list.. One near Keller golf area somewhere
I can talk my way out of any park. Comes from too many times being in the right park in the wrong year.
Because I believe the in and out of the box refers to county and city limits, This has to be Phalen/Keller or BC.
Here are a few...take your pick!
The first two lines talk of an arch near the treasure that is over a trail and is natural.
Rainbow.
I'm out of here for tonight. I think I'll go dream of rainbows.
Sounds like something on a tombstone or obituary.
Now and then the plans of men
Are fouled beyond measure.
A recurring catastrophe like the flooding of lilydale, or upper landing or crosby pigs eye Bruce vento...
Gateway trail crosses between Keller and Phalen.
1st and 2nd parts of word spelled the same as in como.
Not usual at all.
da agony of da feet 2011 BC i read as no BC
no fail no Phalen
..plans of men can get fouled - could refer to the 2007 hunt where the medallion was ..found in 3 clues and they quickly needed to create a 2nd hunt.
..I think Ragsdale was the clue writer then.
..That first medallion was in Hidden Falls, could it be there again?
..Are there caves on that hillside at HF? That would be the natures work (arches) over the trail
..no real sledding hill but the entrance from River Rd is usually blocked in the winter and kids could sled down the drive.
..the medallion could be "wedged" between Crosby and HF.
These thought make sense to someone with a sinus infection!
gateway trail is runs along frost at a lower elevation
another interesting feature in that area is the keller lake dam
"An arch he did spy (with the treasure nearby) -
NatureÂ’s work high over a trail. "

OK, I'm stretching it I know.
