Vadnais Sports Center is a state-of-the-art sports complex featuring two NHL regulation hockey rinks and a 100,000 square-foot sports dome.

That was supposed to say "We like stretches, Neecie!"

And it's interesting that the fat bike races are called Fat Wednesday, and this tire clue comes out on a Wednesday. Hmmm...

A lot of the clues fit conveniently into Como...another herring? Like Keller too.

About Como, I was thinking loo = zoo?

too many of the clues fit como. too many of them fit harriet. too many fitting both reminds me of 2003 and makes me wish i had a good stiff drink in hand.

I think tire has more to do with a sign, a round-a-bout, or circular path in the park.

I am with you Ares....we can still make them fit several places. Party!!!

Yum, yum...

Good noodling everyone! I have nothing to add, but a good stiff drink sounds good.

I dreamt about domes last night - ancient ones on wheels (tires) running through trails that were mucky (mire). I don't like dreaming about clues especially when they are so out of whack.

good noodle over on facebook regarding the newly refurbished MN State Capitol being on the puck this year. Kinda like the "horizen's sketch" in clue 2 last year.

Dersky

I like that idea.
Wed, 01/25/2017 - 3:17 PM Permalink

Every noodle is good because no one knows what might be the correct translation of the clue and we won't know until it's found. Puts everyone on a level playing field and I like that part of the hunt.

His friends would turn on him. He would be ostracized by his crew.

What parks can you stand in and see the Capitol dome?
Wed, 01/25/2017 - 5:29 PM Permalink
Terry

If I remember correctly, Cherokee, IM, Upper Landing, maybe Harriet Island but that might sit too low and with downtown between the park and the capital.

Of course there is also the dome of the cathedral that can be seen from most of these parks. A lot has to do with how low you are standing and how clear the view is between you and either one of those structures.

queenmalley

I would think it would be the Capitol dome, due to the renovations were finally completed recently with much hype.

When nature calls and stalls

Sounds like port-a- potties to me.

And if the port-a-pot is closed, find another spot.

Hmm...loo, call of nature, pot, stalls
Wed, 01/25/2017 - 8:36 PM Permalink
Smore

nature calls stalls: reason, season: spot, pot:

yup! yup! They're closing the bathrooms!

Port-a-potty's at the park are a no brainer...Is this news? or alternative facts?
Wed, 01/25/2017 - 8:36 PM Permalink
queenmalley

like a "mire" lol
Wed, 01/25/2017 - 8:37 PM Permalink
Terry

The unscrambled clue will certainly be interesting.

I think we all look for the park with the port-a-potty's. That's an easy give away. Duh! Drove along the river road tonight. No port-a-potty's and the gates are closed at Hidden Falls. Not that I thought it was there...lol

This clue has me laughing with tears rolling. We have reached a new low in cluedom and it has gotten a bit stinky.

:sheepish: :pbpt: :goofy:

Like

another OO word...but different sound from "good" (uh) to cool and toodle-loo (oo).
Wed, 01/25/2017 - 8:45 PM Permalink
Terry

So now we are looking for loos that could perhaps be domed but they're locked so good luck to us. We'll end up in the mire but stay away from the gorse.
Wed, 01/25/2017 - 8:48 PM Permalink
Smore

Historic loos! I'm really thinking Harriet Island here....
Wed, 01/25/2017 - 8:54 PM Permalink
Terry

I will not be digging in a loo for a medallion. The diaper from Hidden Falls is one thing. This is bizarre.

I'm sitting laughing my butt off and trying to be quiet because Inks hit the sheets a bit ago, tears running and I tend to snort.
Wed, 01/25/2017 - 8:54 PM Permalink
Terry

But are they ancient?
Wed, 01/25/2017 - 8:55 PM Permalink
witchdoctor

If it's closed for the season that's pretty good reason

to find another spot

but without any stalls when nature calls

go around for the prized pot

my guess for clue 5
Wed, 01/25/2017 - 8:56 PM Permalink
Terry

Good guess. I bet you're close if not right on.

I've been laughing to myself so hard I couldn't even start without rolling on the floor. My funny bone has been tickled.

Thanks, Witch...sounds pretty good. I'm gonna say toodle-loo for the night.

Clue 5 unscrambled!

If it's closed for the season that's pretty good reason

to find another spot.

When nature calls, but without any stalls,

go around for the prized pot.

Witchdoctor you were very close! I am impressed.
Wed, 01/25/2017 - 9:07 PM Permalink
KITCH

the ride area is closed...for good reason....nature (animals) is in the stalls....and the merry go round.....

If I'm right...my new favorite clue of all time.

Good noodles, Kitch! I've been thinking/saying carousel all along, and there is lots that fits, but I've also heard that whole area is out of bounds.

From the hunt rules:

A new clue will appear daily through Thursday, February 2, 2017, unless the medallion is found prior to that date. Read the daily clues to search for the Pioneer Press medallion hidden on public land in Ramsey County. The medallion will not be hidden on the State Capitol grounds, at Como Zoo & Conservatory, under any skating surface, on a golf course, under or on any artificial turf surface or at any construction site.
Wed, 01/25/2017 - 9:20 PM Permalink
Eags

I'm thinking you can see the carousel, domes, etc., from the part of the park where the medallion can be found.
Wed, 01/25/2017 - 9:22 PM Permalink
Terry

I think that would be a safe bet. Maybe that means we wouldn't be deep into the woods.
