Posting this here because I can't create a new thread - TC (Johannes) is doing a 1 clue mini hunt for 5 tokens, each good for free entry into his hunt this summer. Here is the clue:
Guide your sledge to county’s edge, sterling and pristine—
A thing of beauty, civic duty; please, keep our lake clean!
A monstrous fright of pure delight takes refuge in the park;
Near shoreline oaken, find a token underneath some bark.
I went out to the back yard yesterday, and it's very icy and slippery! Had to find the small patches of bare grass to carefully step in. Hunting off any trails could be slippery!
They say we're going to get some very cold weather the weekend after this through the end of the hunt!
the pictures were the easy part. the hard part was that the pf and original pp forums had html code that wasn't necessary proper. made getting links right a pain. honestly the only thing missing here is the few hundred posts we had from the 2018 hunt, and unfortunately, all the attachments from ableminds. i never got my archive script set up to fetch attachments before they had to shut them off, and i never ran the script after the 2018 hunt to capture that stuff. alas.
I’m in. Rough start, I tell you. Spent all day Thursday in bed, sick as a dog. Outdoor hockey for the mite Friday night, today, and tomorrow. Getting ready to go. Tourney has been in Phalen, got my eye out.
yup, qm. took a small amount of work to migrate those in. for everyone who was a poster on one of the previous sites, i created an account with as much information as i harvested and just put in a bogus email address that i could change later as the fold migrated back to the forum.
good luck in phalen dave :)
as for me, i'm just happy that i don't have a place that auto corrects and puts capital letters in places for me. i feel like me again :)
WOW!Is this going to be as much fun as Ableminds was?Edit....Crap now I gotta relearn how to use this thing. I hope it is like learning to ride a bike with out all the scabs.
welcome back to the forum everyone. yeah its a little different from ableminds/peoplesforum/the original water cooler, and a lot more like a lot of forums that we've rejected in the past, and it was a bit of a hack job, but since ableminds died we needed to get something put together fast and this was the best i could do in the timeframe i had.
Is it possible to have like buttons here? I know it wasn't possible in other forums, but we have gotten so used to the FB format, I find I'm missing those.
I had them turned on but it was slowing down page loads to about 6 seconds each. I’m hoping I can turn it back on after the software gets upgraded or rework it so that it doesn’t affect the load time.
Maybe a stretch but first thing I thought of with upside down, fish/frog, and "pog" was the last season of Stranger Things. The kids find a monster they call the pollywog because they can't figure out what it is, it came from a place called "The Upside Down." There's also a MN connection in the season to the Science Museum. One of the main characters has a sweatshirt that says 'Science Museum of Minnesota' in one of the episodes and the museum made a replica of it that sold really well after the show aired. The main villain of the season from the upside down also has tornado appendages.
Clue 4: Don’t be snide, buy a ticket to ride – The journey’s bound to be a hoot Down by the junction, you hunters should function, To track down the precious loot
Clue 3: One day moons ago, the wind it did blow The sky, an upside down bog As a tornado twirled it soon unfurled A street full of fish and frog
Clue 2: This sounds less than clever, but this year we endeavor To hide the prize in scant flora. Surround with ice wall? We knew it would fall. Better to join the plethora
Clue 1: For the sake of a wall we’re in a grand stall So make use of your new found leisure In the midst of the shutdown, since work hours are cut down, Find a park to search for treasure
I may be here, but my brain isn't! Have been doing some google noodling, not coming up with many ideas. These clues seem so simple on the surface, but there must be deeper meanings to things, so it's confusing!
I am no longer paying attention to scrambled clues. They mess with my head. Clue 5 tonight. We might get some clarity - either that we are on a good track or in the frog pond.
And waiting for clues for 24 hours each goes against my grain - but it is the PPs game and not mine. Bummer Green Team - are you are facebook and who are you there if you are on FB?
I thought that was you...but wanted to make sure. those two words are a mystery to me thus far. I figure anything that doesn't make sense yet, may either be throw aways or will become clearer later.
Wouldn't it be sweet if treasure you'd meet?Your life bedecked in grand style!Search hip to hip on your hunting tripAnd your tactics could prove worthwhile
The others are listed following the link in the first post of this thread.
Interesting that you mention that. I had that thought quickly go throiugh my head too when I first read the clue. But then dismissed it because it seemed too far to stretch.
The tornado clue had me thinking Long Lake or Central. I'm thinking clues could fit both parks, and probably others too! Maybe tonight's clue will have more info?
French traders called the Indian settlement "Grand Village." -Grand has been used now in multiple clues.
"Now part of Long Lake Regional Park, Peter Hipp began farming 40 acres of land on the east side of Long Lake in the 1880's. Four generations of Hipps lived on the farm." -HIP TO HIP
"The Minneapolis Stockyards and Packing Company purchased a 900 acre site along the southeastern shores of Long Lake. The Stock Yards Land Syndicate bought 800 acres on the west side of the lake. The stockyards along with packing houses were completed in 1889 and could house 5,000 cattle, 10,000 hogs, 20,000 sheep, and 500 horses at its 30 acres on the southeastern location on Long Lake. By 1901, the stockyard and packing houses met their demise and over the next 10 years were dismantled and sold off."
The New Brighton Area Historical Society (NBAHS) logo at the right shows, top, clockwise, the Exchange Hotel in 1891, built to accommodate the cattlemen coming to the stockyards; the Bulwer Junction Depot, now the New Brighton History Center; the stockyards at the turn of the century; and the railroad, all of which helped put New Brighton on the map.
The New Brighton History Center is located in Long Lake Regional Park,
I think the next couple clues will either get us into the right park and out of the wrong one...or keep us all in different camps. Many times to early park turns out not to the be one the puck is hitched to...just saying.
I wonder about the whole Harriet/CoNo deception as well TV. It happened with BVNT/Bald Eagle too. At least the clues fit better at Bald Eagle than that whole French Immersion school junk during that mess.
LL works well as it sits. So does Central. Unfortunately, this wouldn't be the first time they blew good clues on the wrong park on purpose. <
Is there a way to have your top post removed when reviewing ones own post? It took me a bit to find the save button because it was below your post that was under my reviewed post. Try and review a test post and see what I mean.
The other issue is that I get the following display when I go in to attach something but decide not to use anything. Try that as well and see if it happens to you.
Lastly on a wish list is to see if you can enable the double space period. I've been backspacing after every sentence. Grrrr!

Is there a spot we could gather the clues each day that we can reference?

Forecast tells me this will not happen this year....
The Deed is Done, the hunt's begun.
Here's to another year of slogging.
Through ice and snow, where ever we go,
Many miles in parks we're logging.
The clues lead the way, the hunters will say,
With rhymes and history a plenty.
I'm hoping King Boreas provides weather glorious
And temperatures stay well above twenty.
Tonight's clue
Could someone post tonights clue - both scrambled and otherwise. I need to head for the sheets. It's been a long day.

Okay, here's an idea.
Okay, here's an idea. Junction could refer to Petticoat Junction, and hoot could refer to the train in the show called the Hootervillle Cannonball.
Now, how does that fit a park, I wonder? Not sure, but thought it was interesting!
