Thanks, Jordean...not familiar with that park; is it adjacent to Swede Hollow? It must be small, and clues point to a vast area, unless AA is connected to Swede Hollow?
Wow, I'm gone for 10 hours and everyone has changed their minds again and are now leaning toward AA and SH? This has been an amazing roller coaster ride to watch. I, of course, still like HF (can you tell when I pick a favorite I don't like to change my mind?). There still just doesn't seem to be enough from these clues to make me want to pick up a shovel and actually dig. Ugh!
I know, Kids! Highland has been tossed around, but everyone got all excited about SH this morning...something about clue 7 and a street called DeSoto running by SH
SSP, I was saying I don't really like Highland. I live 5-10 minutes away from it, and am fairly familiar with it,and the clues this year don't seem to fit it. So I'm not endorsing it too highly.
Your welcome SSP! I am not familiar with AA either. It was not listed in my Hudson map, so I pulled out the old Mpls/ St. Paul city map and that is how I found it. My Hudson doesn't have Swede Hollow in it either (and for this I paid $20.00?) lol so I do not know where SW is....
Ace... I would have thought there would be lots of people at AA??????? Think maybe they found it already? LOLOLOL :)
Same, Tiny; last year at this time, I had dug in like 3 parks by now; I haven't even put a shovel in my car yet! but I don't think it is buried this year....
Jordean--check Friends of the Park website; you can get a pretty good map up and zoom in for street names, etc. ; don't know the exact address as it is bookmarked on my computer...
At this point, there is going to be a lot of "Hey, what about XXXX park?", and explanation of how it could fit. I don't think we have anything solid until the next clue comes out.
know i was at harriet island last night & newell & phalen &mounds &highland park & even the fairgrounds (until i realized they werent in st paul...duh!). i like harriet island though! but it is kinda creepy down there in the dark!
clark & desoto street dont run all the way down to sh. but they are both at arlington & arkwright which is where my mom said it would be this year probably hoping since she lives across the street!
They just finished a major renovation of Harriet Island. Multi-million dollar project. So I'm inclined to think they would not want us digging up Harriet Island yet. All that grass is new.
I'm convinced that 'memory lane' is Buehla(spell?)Lane behind McMurray field. It was the old strolling path to Como that used to lead to a bridge and garden. The 'old way to travel'is the train tracks on the other side of McMurray field.McMurray is not defined as Como park but is 'linked' to it.It is not defined as a park.It is by definition a ball field and the whole thing is sunken and large. You can see all the other clues clearly from there also.
Right now I'm at the library, because its a better resource than my cruddy computer at home. I'm thinking of heading out in a bit though, go do some firsthand exploring and noodling, maybe meet up with some coolerheads out in the trenches
Med kids have gone through my guide and rethunk the clues,I still say McMurray field. It all seems to fit better than anywhere else. Not saying I could be wrong, but I'm really convinced.
I've taken Allison's theory into consideration but I can't seem to place all the clues there.Besides he had me at Valley for a coupla days........dat wascally wabbit!
Yeah AA,I don't like it........it seems like too much over thinking to me.I've made that mistake before, some of these clues are just 'DUH'.I keep thinking back to things like 'ought to hum here'......DUH! I think too much analysis is a bad thing sometimes.
I think for them to pinpoint a smaller park like that this early in the game is bad and wrong. If its a smaller park, they will be vague before pinpointing things. Is too early for that I guess.
Thanks, Jordean...not familiar with that park; is it adjacent to Swede Hollow? It must be small, and clues point to a vast area, unless AA is connected to Swede Hollow?
hey y'all...what's new today>?
Ace--think AA is not in the running? but is it connected to SH?
ssp, I think at this point, there are a LOT of parks still in the running.
Kids--why are you looking in Highland?
I was just out at Harriet Island...lots of random digging space.
no it is not connected to SH....

gggggrrrrrrrrrr.......this is so frustrating!

SH is by Metro State University
I thought that it was specifically stated that it was buried. correct me if I'm wrong
no it is not connected to SH....
Jordean--check Friends of the Park website; you can get a pretty good map up and zoom in for street names, etc. ; don't know the exact address as it is bookmarked on my computer...
swede hollow doesn't have much open space. I just don't see how it could fit
thanks SSP!
Izzy--it was the "DeSoto" street and clue 7 that was discussed this am; and some old stone circle, back part of park has Clark st. and other stuff.
alright..I'm kinda seeing how that could work...the river references seem to fit as well.
Later....
swede hollow is the kind of park where you would find a body while youre digging! I dont think it would be there. What about harriet island?
I was just out at harriet island. It seems to fit..there's just way too much open space to pinpoint it
At this point, there is going to be a lot of "Hey, what about XXXX park?", and explanation of how it could fit. I don't think we have anything solid until the next clue comes out.
If you can't noodle, why don't you guys go get yourselves in a Doc-U-Ment-A-Ree?
As dear Eags says, "I'm off like a prom dress!"
See you guys in the parks!
anything could happen still
Yeh, I'm old...I used to actually have a couple DeSotos
'56 and a '58
push-button transmission and power everything !
know i was at harriet island last night & newell & phalen &mounds &highland park & even the fairgrounds (until i realized they werent in st paul...duh!). i like harriet island though! but it is kinda creepy down there in the dark!
I suppose it would be. I was there most of the morning. not many people, but it's pretty dispursed yet. I can't settle on one park either
clark & desoto street dont run all the way down to sh. but they are both at arlington & arkwright which is where my mom said it would be this year probably hoping since she lives across the street!
I've got to get going again. Happy pondering to all! I'll see you out there!
If you have Yahoo Messenger go to "Treasure Hunt:1" for more of a realtime chat.
I will be in and out of there
They just finished a major renovation of Harriet Island. Multi-million dollar project. So I'm inclined to think they would not want us digging up Harriet Island yet. All that grass is new.
hey every one!!!!!!!!
Just have to throw this out there....'memory lane' Como, Perry Como???
this new treasure hunters guide is pretty cool
I'm convinced that 'memory lane' is Buehla(spell?)Lane behind McMurray field. It was the old strolling path to Como that used to lead to a bridge and garden. The 'old way to travel'is the train tracks on the other side of McMurray field.McMurray is not defined as Como park but is 'linked' to it.It is not defined as a park.It is by definition a ball field and the whole thing is sunken and large. You can see all the other clues clearly from there also.
Anyone out there? Bueller? Bueller?
Buehla,Buehla? I'm here med kids! Where are you now?
Right now I'm at the library, because its a better resource than my cruddy computer at home. I'm thinking of heading out in a bit though, go do some firsthand exploring and noodling, maybe meet up with some coolerheads out in the trenches
Med kids have gone through my guide and rethunk the clues,I still say McMurray field. It all seems to fit better than anywhere else. Not saying I could be wrong, but I'm really convinced.
I have a feeling tonight's clue will be a breakthrough one. But I've also had that feeling about the last two clues...
I've taken Allison's theory into consideration but I can't seem to place all the clues there.Besides he had me at Valley for a coupla days........dat wascally wabbit!
Allison's theory? About AA?
Yeah AA,I don't like it........it seems like too much over thinking to me.I've made that mistake before, some of these clues are just 'DUH'.I keep thinking back to things like 'ought to hum here'......DUH! I think too much analysis is a bad thing sometimes.
Lindorfer,you out there?
I think for them to pinpoint a smaller park like that this early in the game is bad and wrong. If its a smaller park, they will be vague before pinpointing things. Is too early for that I guess.
I believe it is 'NOT' a park, but 'linked' to a park. It's a large sunken ballfield. So they are both right and wrong.
