I wouldn't deny that Rice is a smaller park, but the key point was that the treasure has never been hidden in Rice Park, whereas it has been in Irvine. The real contest then was between Irvine and Mears as both of them have hosted the Medallion once. And I think we concluded, at least "officially" that they were the same size.
From looking at the clues and the rhyme scheme, I'd say it's quite possible we've had the same clue writer since 1994. Since then the treasure has been at:
Highland
Battle Creek
Harriet Island
Como
Cherokee
Conway
Newell
Como
I still suspect the cluewriter is from the Como Park area and has a preference for the west side over the east side. Since they've been cluewriter they've gone to the east side twice, (roughly) downtown twice, and the northwest three times. It's been southwest only once and that was their first year. I think they're going to feel the lure of going back to that part of the city. But I don't think they're going to go back to Highland. I think they're going to try a park they themselves have not done before this time. It's hard to come up with fresh ideas for clues for the same park you've already done. With Como, it's big enough that thye could just do a completely different part of the park. So what else is down there? Hidden Falls. It was there in 93, but I think that was a different cluewriter. And there are a lot of obscure places one could hide the medallion if it turned out there wasn't going to be a lot of snow. And I can see it being a hard place to search which might result in a longer hunt. And now that I see it's only been there twice before, I'd say that's my official pre-hunt guess.
Yeah Allison, I've been trying to analyze the clues, and I've been going through the clues starting with 1990. And it seems like 1994 there was a new clue writer.
I've already done through all the clues back to 1990 and tried to classify them. I've got labels like "landmark within park, landmark outside/adjacent park, medallion container, St Paul boundary reference". I would just need to rework my classifications possibly a bit. I can throw out the 1990-1993 hunts though afterwards.
Another thing I noticed is we can finally put the golf course debate to rest. They mentioned golf course in each of the last three years, two years it was in a park without a course and one year it was in a park that did have one. So clearly the mention of avoiding golf courses is meant to niether suggest nor deny that a golf course is part of the park, just that you should stay off of them wherever you search.

Allison, I did have a "street reference" label, as well as "park reference" label for then they allude to the name of the park. The big thing for me is distinguishing landmarks. I've distinguished so far by "landmarks within park" and "landmarks outside/adjacent park". But I'm wondering if I want to make some category for the clues where they refer trees or park benches or playgrounds, as opposed to a unique landmark within a park
