2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Another time...can't remember what year...there were clues that indicated high ground and everyone thought for sure it was Highland.

Was that the year it was at Cherokee or Mounds?

I know. She was just saying that the same guy that made the old highland tower made the pavilian at HI.

I'm leaning towards Battle Creek. It seems to me that they've always mentioned to stay off the golf course in the clues when they're worried about it.

The TRUE highest point in st paul (land only, not including buildings) is located at hillcrest golf course. one of the tees(not sure which).

The water tower is only open to the public 1 day out of the year sometime in October (?) and is designated the highest point (think when you are actually at the top of the water tower looking out)

Note: I learned that on the St. Paul City Channel :)

I cannot figure out what carnival hunter's pride is....I do think it is significant, but all I can think of is the button, but certainly that wouldn't apply. Is it saying we need to be bold to find medallion, thus diverting ONCE AGAIN back to Como? geez, i hope not

Im not sure whats going on with this golf course thing because no matter where it was hidden they would always say in clue one or two to stay off of the golf course. Maybe this year they decided to put it in the rules so they wouldnt have to waste a clue on it.

me2 the tower is the highest point including buildings. it depends on how you look at it. if all buildings were leveled, the highest point would be at hillcrest, otherwise the tower. i would love to get up there during the hunt... DAD!!!

It would certainly take ALOT of pride and stubborness to hunt Como again. And wouldn't the giant slide be perfect for these clues, as I am sure everyone is thinking 2 things---1.Will NOT be at Como again 2. The slide they are referring to would be TOO obvious to be the giant slide. Let's face it, Como is synonomous with the whole winter carnival, and where better to show your pride? But again, I sure hope not. They would soon have to call this the Como Park medallion hunt

Tue, 01/22/2002 - 12:01 AM Permalink
Terry

Not me. Nope. No gun here. You'd know better if you knew me.

I'm just asking about what any hunter's pride would be. Trying to tie something into the carnival hunter's pride.

Hillcrest behind the Library in Highland Pk? I thought of that earlier today but didn't know its name, I thought maybe it was just a ball field-WOW!

Merriam is high, good sledding, close to river, and lots knitted hats lying around, and is far and wide from prior locations

many parks still fit flat ones are less likely still no water?? or golf

if you "trip over the goods"--that is basically like tripping across the street to the mall (goods)?

Tue, 01/22/2002 - 12:04 AM Permalink
Terry

So if we're tripping over the goods, perhaps it is in a huge box of Tide!

Tue, 01/22/2002 - 12:04 AM Permalink
