2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Yes, Scribe. But, unfortunately, I left it at home. Do you have a page # or a web site # I can go look at?

DARTHEAD:The treasure can by rules be in suburban Ramsey County-but the first clue does mention(as in most years),to look in a St. Paul park.

Not St. Paul Park though.

the last couple of years it has gone from big park to small park so if you follow that line of thinking, it would be a small park this year

It has a mural of the St.Paul Winter Carnival Ice Palace on the side of the rec building. It is considered on the river though it is two blocks away.It is directly down most of the seven hills and thus far from woods. It has a skating rink and broomball area as well as a playground and school a half block away.

Not saying for sure.....looks good for only the third clue and the next clue may take me somewhere else entirely......But I liked enough to go and take a first shot with the shovel, and traditionally I don't dig until at least the fifth or sixth clue.(Linwood excluded:)

SCRIBE:Long time no talk to.Well-here we are again seeking that medallion. The way the snow is melting now-I wonder if the spotting will be any easier. It's not supposed to snow again for awhile.

Last year you had some pretty keen insights on the location. An analytical mind you do possess.

Do you guys ever meet at a certain time at a park and hunt together. I would be interested in joining you.

The Sunday after the medallion hunt is over, the park that the medallion was found in is a Post-Dig Bash. The watercooler gang goes there as well as the finder (usually) and anyone else who wants to join in the fun. I've never been able to go, but would love to this year.

Randy,

you lining up anything other than down the hill and Ice "Palace"??

A bay has tides, and Bay St. borders Palace.

It's a shame how some of the inspirations i get aren't applicable.

Take the two lines mentioning 'time'.The first thought i hadwas century(Century Ave)-and "some time to kill"could be the recent demise,or 'killng' of th twentieth century.

Century Ave.isn't in St. Paul. It's barely in Ramsey County.Somebody here thought of 'winter, which is mentioned by word, and could be a reference to a time frame.

Is there a Winter Park somewhere?
