Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.
Frosti
Yesterday was Neil Diamond's birthday, if that helps anyone out.
sprydoggy, i don't have a top 3 list. given the "not just any fool" in last nites clue, i'm convinced its at one of the places steve talks about in the back of the guide, but doesn't have a map of! must be 20 or so of them. and they're small enough that they would be putting off something explicitly revealing about the location.
I will be going out probably around 1 or 2 I plan on hitting Mounds again breifly (in the daylight hours) Merriam, Phalen (maybe I will actually get out of my car today) and Rice
Slim, I thnk we can keep reinforcing each other. Our thinking is alike. But what bugs me is I missed the anagram. Do you use a website type thing for deciphering anagrams?
Lisa's--you think Rice, huh? What about the ice sculptures? Do they let people go digging around in there? Otherwise, I'm with you on the other 3...I'm going out around 1ish to scope...it's so much easier in the daylight to check out the landmarks, etc
Where are you coming from? Merriam is a little tricky to get to. It's on 94 and Prior, but there is no Prior exit, so you may need to take Snelling or Cretin to Marshall and then take that to Prior.
Lisa, there are 3 streets A B & C that are on the north end of BC. They are very small- you probably have to know the area or use a Hudson Street map to see them. ABC is a tv network- in the air are the street signs, on the air with the broadcasts. They are not too far from Point Douglas Rd. (point-tip- get it).
The song goes something like this........"she's just a diamond in the rough........" For some reason Elton John and the Lady Dianne tribute song is also sticking in my mind, but I just cannot remember- drat!
Also, "Diamond in the Rough" was a song written by Neil Diamond. It's also the name of an album by John Prine. And there's a song by Shawn Colvin called Diamond in the Rough. I don't think it's a cover.
Dale Jarret ya swing by my ouse and pick me up we follow my map.... Haha No No No jsut kidding I am going to head over there now I have no idea how to get there I am going to get in the car and drive till I find a park when I do find a park i will call it Merriam
I though I read something from Green about not posting telephone numbers or email (or did he say erase it right away?) I am not sure I know how to do that
I agree with Terry that this clue is talking about what it is hidden in and isn't a park clue. But if that's the case, that would probably mean that time and tide must have some real significance. It could be the Longfellow thing, but that strikes me as such a longshot way of trying to refer to the school.
Well I was having some trouble with my asthma, but that seems to have subsided now, so I think I'm going to head out and do some searching in the daylight. Maybe I'll see some of you out there.
I still kinda like that matchbox idea myself...but that may be too big of a box--maybe it's hidden in a matchbook, and hidden in yet something else--yarn (knit your brow).....
That time and tide thing has been floating around in my noodlin' noggin for a couple of days. What is it that both time and tide do? Both lead to change. Tide changes landscape and time changes all sorts of stuff...like from a different era.
That would lead me to think about what has changed in this park the medallion is hidden in...either because of water or time. Something from a different era?
Alert, Alert-just got back from Merriam, 1 spotter who was very noticeable, didn't put much effort into shoveling, was a dead give away. Interesting I think!!!
No, nothing about the size of the park. The ones I'm looking at are smaller ones, but even if it was in a big one, the way they have defined the area by the clues is going to limit it to a rather small part of that big park anyway, so I really don't see it making any difference.
That's actually a decent thought Terry. Will have to think about that one. I thought I saw a spotter last night at Merriam too but it could have just been someone scouting it out. Or in your case someone who just wasn't confident of where to dig.
I think just about anything is possible. The deal with this year's clues thus far is that by skewing the way you think about any given clue - and often without stretching - could put you in any number of parks.
Yesterday was Neil Diamond's birthday, if that helps anyone out.
yes fox, i know where you are looking, off the happy, in the flowers...slightly SW of there.
dave s.,
about the "diamond in the rough" being a fix up house... they are tearing down houses around Jimmy Lee

How do I get to Merriam Park?
A, B, C St are next To BC
I will be going out probably around 1 or 2 I plan on hitting Mounds again breifly (in the daylight hours) Merriam, Phalen (maybe I will actually get out of my car today) and Rice

Merriam is my top by far. Then maybe Belvedere, just because I haven't been there yet to dismiss it. And then, maybe Indian Mounds.
Slim, I thnk we can keep reinforcing each other. Our thinking is alike. But what bugs me is I missed the anagram. Do you use a website type thing for deciphering anagrams?
delete lisa... TMI, let me get there first!
how about email fox?

GreyHoundGirl- A, B, and C, street are on the very end of White Bear Ave. They are extremely small- but it is about a block from Bc.
point douglas is up by mounds to I think ..
last night people were thinking that it would be in a Diamond box of matches
ZPoint Douglas runs right into BC, but it is next to Mounds Too- same with Burns Ave.
get it fox?
AW - I am thinking that this clue is what its in or its talking about finding a smaller park amongst the many
Well I was having some trouble with my asthma, but that seems to have subsided now, so I think I'm going to head out and do some searching in the daylight. Maybe I'll see some of you out there.
Allison is there anything leading you to believe if the park is going to be an average park or very large park.

I was just htinking Diamond in the rough find the smaller park or the more unknown park...I don't know just noodling...
