2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

I'll go back and look

is that better, lm?

we've got about a half dozen admins to support 200 developers. thankfully most of the developers are incredibly familiar with the hardware they're working on. the sa's only get called in for really big problems. (what's scary is that i've had them come to me for troubleshooting problems)

nite ll, lm. scds. mcl.

good question, ter. were they around in the other 11 months last year?

Thu, 01/31/2002 - 10:37 PM Permalink
Terry

Seems to me they popped in now and again...but nothing steady. I just thought they'd be around till after the parade anyways.

I should have gone to the paper when I had a chance!

Now that would be a good story!

Thu, 01/31/2002 - 10:43 PM Permalink
Terry

I know Shaggy was working already.

Or maybe this is part of their persona...to be here only during the hunt?

Did they say if they'd be coming to the parade?

Thu, 01/31/2002 - 10:44 PM Permalink
Terry

Now that would be an interesting story, Artemis!

well from what scribe was telling me, they are kinda shy. so i doubt they'll be at the parade. thought i'm sure they'd be a hit if they were.

Or maybe this is part of their persona...to be here only during the hunt?

that was my plan in 2000 too. didn't work :)

The best laid plans of mice and men, heh? LOL!!!

Artemis The Huntress

I don't recall if they said they were coming to the parade or not, I think it might have depended on Shaggys work schedule.

don't get me started, ter. scribe's made me promise to keep my dirty laundry out of here :)

Artemis The Huntress

I think the plan worked, you are still rumored to be a computer generated entity!

Thu, 01/31/2002 - 10:49 PM Permalink
Terry

Artemis - I was kinda thinking the same thing - or did they say they'd see us next year?

thankfully my bitter diatribes have long since been deleted as the discussion came up in the shoot the breeze thread :)

Thu, 01/31/2002 - 10:55 PM Permalink

That answers the question about being around a bit during the year. I guess we'll have to wait until Saturday night to see if they show for the parade.

I best get undercovers here. Tomorrow will be busy at work. I best be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

See yaz all tomorrow!

Goodnight, SCDs and MCL!

...So Ole died. And Lena called the local paper to publish the obituary. She told the newspaper lady "Ole died" and the newspaper lady asked "how do you want the obituary to read?" Lena said, "Oh, just say 'Ole died'." And the newspaper lady said, "But Lena, you can get the same price for 5 words as you get for 3!" And Lena said "Then put in "Ole Died, Boat for Sale."!"

cluemaster if you're on. i was talking to a buddy of mine who had a blazer. somewhere between 45 and 50000 miles he had to have his ball joints replaced. and he said 800 bucks is a decent price to pay for it. so maybe you didn't get screwed as bad as you originally thought.

Sven and Ole worked together, and both were laid off, so off they went to the Unemployment Office.

Asked his occupation, Ole said "Panty stitcher. I sew the elastic onto cotton panties."

The clerk looked up panty stitcher. Finding it classed as unskilled labor, she gave him $300 a week unemployment pay. Sven was asked his occupation.

"Diesel fitter" he replied. Since diesel fitters was a skilled job the clerk gave Sven $600 a week.

When Ole found out he was furious. He stormed back in to find out why his friend and coworker was collecting double his pay.

The clerk explained: panty stitchers were unskilled and diesel fitters were skilled labor.

"What skill?" yelled Ole. "I sew the elastic on, Sven pulls on it and says, "Yep, diesel fitter."

There was this over the road truck driver, and his route took him from New York to Los Angeles. It took him 6 months to complete his route. He had no wife, no girlfriend:( On one such trip, he heard about this brothel just outside Chicago. He heard it was the best anywhere. It had ben many moons since he last had contact with anything resembling a female, and when he passed that suburb of the Shy Town, he decided to stop at this "House of ill repute".
