It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.
As far as clue #2 goes, I honestly believe this is the same as last year's "Rosebud" clue which basically said nothing other than that there was sledding nearby. This does little more than eliminate the small, flat parks (and I was so hoping for Swede Hallow Park), but I think they have no interest in giving too many specific clues too early as they have rarely done so in the past.
I don't know, I just saw in the clue it said something about a "Poular outdoor activity" and the last word was "action" and that is a part of a gun, I just can't find anything else in the clue
Allison Wonderland, where do you get Fairway, Maryland and Green, Idaho? There are no streets named Fairway or Green around by Phalen. Also, looked up the states of Maryland and Idaho and there are not cities named Fairway and Green. Please elaborate. If you're right,"Damn, you're good!!!" Pardon my French.
Yes, I'm now convinced ittiz at Phalen. I just threw a copy of the clues in front of my fellow hunter, and he's the one that threw Action and Scene together!!!!
MJ, what about the Ford Pkwy theory. "Won't be caught" and "wrong scene" being the Ford Theatre where Lincoln was killed. That's why people are thinking Highland.
I had the same thought about Grumpy Old Men, which was filmed on Hyacinth Street right by Phalen. The only street name over there which refers to green is Ivy. Otherwise there is Orange, Hawthorne, and Wheelock, which all run east west. North-south there is Cypress, Earl, Frank, Mendota, and even Arcade (Hwy 61).
Mirror Step. That's the one thing I can't figure out for sure. Perhaps there's something close by? Do the kids slide down the hills towards the lake? I'm not very far from Phalen right now, and am thinking of driving by. Does anyone have any ideas???
Green is the one who thought Ford, and I felt she had a good idea, however, WHEELOCK sounds familiar too. But the scene, and action cannot be mistaken.
That just adds to the theory of not being caught by having the police station close by - stay off the fairway and greens - and Ford Pkwy. I thought of Highland right away with the golf course and Ford Pkwy. being so close.
Maybe they are swinging the look to a certain area of town and then after clue 8 or 9 the scene has a totally new look when they get to narrowing down the search.
Step, caught your message before I logged out. Will bee back in a while. Need to catch supper, (my dinner buyer just arrived) and will take a drive by Phalen with my fellow hunter too. Will log in later!!
Sorry, but I was gone for a while. For those who inquired, there is a city called Fairway in Maryland and a city called Green in Idaho, at least according to the map CD I was using. Thus not disturbing the fairway or green may mean staying between Idaho and Maryland, roughly the borders of the St. Paul side of Phalen.
I think Allison might be right

I there any park that has a gun store or anything around it?
Crazy Hunta'
What is with the gun store?

Don't go to far into it, it is way to early to be reading deeply into these two clues.
know
Allison--what do you mean by fairway, maryland and green, idaho???

Okay, okay . . . . .
Here's an idea from a fellow "hunter" . . . . . .
Just a thought. Take "scene" from clue #1, and add it to "action" from clue #2, and you have something related to film/arts.
This hunter has said that parts of Grumpy(ier) Old Men was filmed near/at Phalen Park!!!!!
Something to think about!!!!!!
I thought it was filmed out in Lake Minnetonka.
what do you people think about Battle Creek---even though phalen sounds good.
treasure digger---nope. right by lake phalen!!
Digger, Grumpy(ier) Old Men was filmed throughout Minnesota!!! Stillwater, Center City, Wabasha, Phalen Area! Just to name a few!
Step, why Battle Creek.
I just love my fellow Hunter!!!!!!!
Well, just bacause of the ski jump...."flying downhill"????
I know, it's probably not right.
Who's your fellow hunter?
MJ--are you thinking Phalen????
There's no golf course by Battle Creek.
The bestest guy I know, in the WORLD!!!! And a VIKING NUT!!!
I know, but do you really think they would limit the search to 3 parks on the first clue?? Prob not.
Maybe there is no course at all?
Yes, I'm now convinced ittiz at Phalen. I just threw a copy of the clues in front of my fellow hunter, and he's the one that threw Action and Scene together!!!!
I doubt that. They like teasing us hunters by not telling us which one exactly but limiting the hunt to just a few.
MJ---where would "flying downhill" come into play---there is no skiing or sledding at phalen....
The only thing I'm wondering about, Phalen doesn't have any sliding hills does it? Do kids slide on hills on the golf course???
But with the prize at ten grand...kinda fishy to me.....

MJ--there really are no good hills at the park or the course....
maybe flying downhill means something else....
Mirror Step. That's the one thing I can't figure out for sure. Perhaps there's something close by? Do the kids slide down the hills towards the lake? I'm not very far from Phalen right now, and am thinking of driving by. Does anyone have any ideas???
Actually, there is a hill off of Hwy 61 at Phalen which many people use to slide down.
Green is the one who thought Ford, and I felt she had a good idea, however, WHEELOCK sounds familiar too. But the scene, and action cannot be mistaken.
Treasure Digger--Also, don't get caught and wrong scene maybe something different...
there is a police station on the grounds of highland park....
I've got to check out for a short while. I'll be back around 5 PM.
What about the carnival theme, "No time for cold feet"? Does this indicate anything to do with hockey rinks like the one's at Como?
MJ--I live right by Phalen so ask me if u have any questions....
Are people going to be out diggin tonight or just driven around?
I think I will do both! I will break out my Park books and dive into this mysterious cold world for the next two weeks.
I here it is going to be rainy this week! this should only stand to weed out the the non committed persons.
Keep your eye open for the black Beetle
Gotta run for now. Will scope things out and report back!!!

MJ--I'll see ya!!!

The hill that people slide down empties down by Hwy 61. I also live approx 6 blocks from Phalen, so I know the area well.
Great idea allison---that makes one think VERY hard...hmmmmmm
Allison--MJ made a great point also....
the words "scene" and "action" could refer to grumpy old men which was filmed by phalen....
Clue 2 could also easily mean that we are to stay away from parks with sledding hills, again making Phalen more likely.
Daisy--Right. I really think it's phalen this year
