Theresa Cross and her daughter Cassie were all smiles after finding the $1,000 medallion Monday morning.

Mora resident Theresa Cross had her daughter Cassie with her when she ended this year's Kanabec County treasure hunt by finding the $1,000 medallion at about 11:45 Monday morning.

The treasure was found in a tree at the Quamba Lake boat access.

Theresa has been looking for the treasure since last Monday when the hunt began. She also participated in the treasure hunt two years ago. Monday was the first time she looked for the treasure at Quamba Lake, but she had been to Ann and Knife lakes previously.

Cross is not sure yet what she will do with the $1,000 cash prize. Since she is in college and her daughter is in home school, the money may go to school expenses.

"But then a minivacation sounds good, too," Theresa said.

This year's clues which used titles to lead seekers to the treasure, were as follows.
