2021 Coon Rapids Snowflake Days Medallion Hunt

The medallion hunt will begin on Saturday, January 30th, 2021 and will continue throughout the Snowflake Days celebration until found.  Clues will be posted on this page daily.

Rules are:

1)  You must have a 2021 Snowflake Days button to claim the cash prize.

2)  The medallion will be hidden on City of Coon Rapids property.

3)  Any destruction of City property during your search will disqualify you from claiming the prize. 

4)  Clues will be posted on this website page by 8:00 a.m. daily beginning on Saturday, January 30th, 2021 through Saturday, February 14th, 2021 or until medallion is found.

5)  The lucky person who finds the medallion should email dianebuszta@yahoo.com or text message to 612-366-1834 immediately!  Announcement will be made on this page when medallion is found.

6)  All notifications regarding this medallion hunt will be posted on this page.

7)  Prize will be awarded to the winner on Sunday, February 14th, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Coon Rapids City Hall. 

8)  Finder of the 2021 medallion will receive a $1,000 prize!

Our obvious wish was to award a winner of the search;
So onward we go into this year and a grand idea did arise,

Each year a Snowflake Button is designed for our winter celebration,
They have become a collector item for some with its various creation;
For three dollars you can get one and we appreciate the support,
And this year’s design may give somewhat of a clue they report.

The mysterious place is located on city property of course,
Not in Kennedy Park but it could be a clue in the force;
If the rhymes have you lost where you do not give an iota,
You might think of this area and a part of it’s biota.

JFK boat in WWll was the PT109, and the plant form of an area's biota is called a Flora
NW intersection is 109th Ave and Flora St.

Gordon and Charlie were near here in the past,

A Canadian place for research shares the local places name,
And a current nurse is remembered in legend and fame.

​Right on the money replication referred to the old Target, circular mound referred to the old Ground Round which were businesses that used to be in the area. The last line is for CR legend Rachael Bona, Mn Gopher star and who's jersey # is retired in the new arena.

Then under the “O” shouts out our longtime friend John,
And over towards an entrance to fun a trail you can get on.

​Location of fireworks was moved from old Cook site to Anoka Ramsey property in 2019 , not far but caused the viewing by the bingo tent and Fire Chief John's calls to be less than spectacular, not John's calling but the fireworks viewing, when the fireworks come back it sounds like they plan to move them back to Cook. Entrance to Carnival on last line.

​Refers to the pave trail by the Splash Pad , flush (hydrant) power pole that lines up with hydrant is the huge cue, and it was right by a fire hydrant.

A round gold medallion you will find wrapped up in black;
You should not need much for tools, maybe just a rake,
Down the trail from the splash pad and your dog takes a break.

​Within ten feet of a tool of the namesake of the carnival fun,
