Yeah that's upstream from Hidden Falls.. I believe it may be part of Mississippi Blvd.. But if you thought the mosh pit was bad, that place would make the mosh pit look extremely tame.
There were two landings the Upper Landing & Lower Landing in St Paul, but the Upper Landing was not in use at the turn of the century.
The Lower Landing now called "Lamberts Landing" is located at Warner Rd at the foot of Sibley St.Â
It has also been known as the Pigs Eye Landing, Jackson St Landing, Robert's Landing, and the Lower Landing. It was officially named Lamberts Landing in 1937
The Upper landing at Chestnut St and Shepard Rd was the dock known as the "Irvine Upper Landing" or just "Upper Landing" owned by John R. Irvine. The Upper Landing didn't do as well as the "Lower Landing" and was turned into a residential housing area around the 1860's. Today it is seeing new buildings and townhouse.
Would be something if the medallion was down off Warner Road again. My Mom and her friend hunted there in 1959...not at the landing, but near where the medallion was actually found that year.
Whew! Finally caught up -- or close to anyway....won't be able to hang around much more tonight (no nap tonight) - so hoping I'll have a direction to noodle in!
USGS Topographical maps list it. I'll get ya a link, that's about the sum total of my knowledge of them, other than I've walked down in that valley/gorge once this summer.
lamberts landing.. is that the riverfront walkway between downtown and IM? There's a spot or two there that could possibly be considered a park..

Ah, Jusme... Ah... THANKS!!!
Evil, I wonder if that's where Upper and Lower Afton Roads got their names?

Green, I'm not sure. I think the "Upper Landing" is close to where the Science Museum is today.

KC0GRN, where did you get that info on "Shadow Falls".Â
<bum-bum>
the clue should give us a landmark in the park
Perfect!
I just keep thinking of how we expected so much from each new clue last year and were usually let down.
USGS Topographical maps list it. I'll get ya a link, that's about the sum total of my knowledge of them, other than I've walked down in that valley/gorge once this summer.
Goodbye scary clown.
But all these baby steps do eventually get us out in the right park.
At least a good deal of the time.Â
I won't mention the times we were out in left field in the wrong park.Â
I had a lot of "huh?" moments last year.

CLUE ME IN
That's the fun -- the anticipation of the thing that's finally going to MEAN something (for yourself, anyway....when it "clicks").Â
I think it finally clicked for me on the 11th clue! lol

Shadow Falls. It's a larger gorge that Mississppi River Blvd is routed around.
hey, shovel---great to see your pics again!
Thanks, KC0GRN! You rock.
The name reminds me of the novel "Shadow Prey" by what's-his-face (the local writer of the dective novels).

Thanks, OT! All I needed was to be puzzling over some author's name all night.
