this clue doesn't do much for mr, except make me nervous we are looking in the wrong park.
Kicked off the island???? any body got a clue?? How about you Green, hiding in a grove sounds like battle creek. What was the story of the battle. I remember something about a hunting party being ambushed and then a retalatory strike. I think one of the groups hide in the woods in the battle creek area.
I still think Crosby but Green knows her med parks...so I can't rule her and BC out.

This clue is referring to Pigs Eye Parrant. He was kicked off the land at Fort Snelling for selling whiskey in 1838 which is the year he moved to St Paul  and settled on the present site of the city of St. Paul, then called Pigs Eye.

It's been a long time comin'
It's goin' to be a long time gone.
And it appears to be a long,
Appears to be a long,
Appears to be a long time,
Yes, a long, long, long, long time,
Before the dawn.

Turn, turn any corner.
Hear, you must hear what the people say,
You know there's something that's goin' on around here,
That surely, surely, surely won't stand the light of day.
And it appears to be a long, (yes it does)
Appears to be a long,
Appears to be a long time,
Such a long, long, time,
Before the dawn.

Speak out, you got to speak out against the madness
You got to speak your mind,
If you dare.
But don't, no don't no try to get yourself elected.
If you do you had better cut your hair.
And it appears to be a long, (yes it does)
Appears to be a long
Appears to be a long time,
Such a long, long, long, long time,
Before the dawn.

It's been a long time comin',
It's going to be a long time gone.
But you know, the darkest hour,
Is always, always just before the dawn.
And it appears to be a long,
Appears to be a long,
Appears to be a long time,
Such a long, long, long, long time before the dawn

Clue #7 has the words "grove" and "land" in it. There is Groveland Park in Mounds View which is in Ramsey County but it is a very small park.

Why does Clue #4 using the work "kings" rather than "a king" - just feel this has to mean something.

Clue #6 "Young woman or man" - is there something specifically for 'young adults' in one of the parks? -

Still can't figure out that glove reference.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Wooden Ships Lyrics
(UPS) EARTH  JULY 1975

Black sails knifing through the pitchblende night
Away from the radioactive landmass madness
From the silver-suited people searching out
Uncontaminated food and shelter on the shores
No glowing metal on our ship of wood only
Free happy crazy people naked in the universe
WE SPEAK EARTH TALK
GO RIDE THE MUSIC
If you smile at me you know I will understand
Cause that is something everybody everywhere does
In the same language
I can see by your coat my friend that you're from the other side
There's just one thing I got to know
Can you tell me please who won
You must try some of my purple berries
I been eating them for six or seven weeks now
Haven't got sick once
Probably keep us both alive
Wooden ships on the watervery free and easy
Easy you know the way it's supposed to be
Silver people on the shoreline leave usbe
Very free and easy
Sail away where the mornin sun goes high
Sail away where the wind blows sweet and young birds fly
Take a sister by her hand
Lead her far from this barren land

Horror grips us as we watch you die
All we can do is echo your anguished cry and
Stare as all you human feelings die
We are leaving
You don't need us
Go and take a sister by her hand
Lead her far from this foreign land
Somewhere where we might laugh again
We are leaving
You don't need us
Sailing ships on the water very free and easy
Easy you know the way it's supposed to be
Silver people on the shoreline leave us be
Very free
And gone
NO C'MON
GO RIDE THE MUSIC
C'MON RIDE IT CHILD

Crosby Stills Nash Young - Lady Of The Island Lyrics

Holding you close undisturbed before the fire
The pressure in my chest when you breath in my ear
We both knew this would happen when you first appeared
My lady of the island

The browness of your body in the fire glow
Except the places where the sun refused to go
Our bodies were a perfect fit in afterglow
We lay, my lady of the island

Letting myself wander through the world inside your eyes
You know I'd like to stay here until every tear runs dry
Do do do do do do.....
My lady of the island

Wrapped around each other in the peeping sun
Beams of sunshine light the stage, the red light's on
I never want to finish what I've just begun with you
My lady of the island
Do do do do do do.......

I just read the latest clue... still points to Crosby for me.

"He staked his claim one year of fame": Thomas Crosby settled on part of what now comprises the parkland in 1858, the year Minnesota became a state.

"On land as rich as Midas": Seems to refer to the fertility of the land. Crosby grew several crops there.

"This land is my land, kicked off the island": Crosby was from England, the British isles. I don't know if he was kicked off or if he left of his own volition. The "this land is my land" part... hm... other than the famous Woody Guthrie tune, not sure what this is referring to... then, to a "grove that once did hide us." This part's got me stumped. A grove of trees? That once hid who? And what were "we" hiding from anyway? Reading this seems to suggest that our settler was kicked off an island and went to a "grove that once did hide us", to settle on rich land. Doesn't sound like Pig's Eye Parrant in any event.

mornin crueler... I am feeling a lil better. Will be out tonite : )

BTW... The hide us part, could be referring to the squatters that stayed around corsby/fort snelling.

According to the sign at the entrance to Crosby - they were kicked out of rum town and moved to the area now know as Macgroveland/highland

Fort Snelling was demoted to a supply depot. In 1858, the year Minnesota became a state, the fort was sold to a land developer and platted as a town site. Plans for the city of Fort Snelling were abandoned, however, with the outbreak of the Civil War.

I didn't notice that on the sign... then again, I didn't really take the time to actually read much on the sign... I was in too big of a hurry to get to the pond area.

I thought about the Groveland part too though. Just up the hill not far. That makes sense to me.
