"I can see the palace from my West Side home. It was wonderful,'' said Jana Armstead, who came downtown to witness its demise. "I wouldn't miss this. This is St. Paul. ..."
Standing with her, in a chance meeting, was her friend Terry Knapp, who also stopped to witness the towers of ice fall and be hauled away by the truckload. Both are part of a team that hunts the annual Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt medallion.
"I hate to see it go, but there will be another,'' Knapp said.
Hey me2, you should post that pic you got of Karl running away. ;-)
so I'm researching cool stuff that we could get next year aside from cold weather wear cuz I'm a sucker for the blinking stuff. I came upon a site that does custom imprinting of light up stuff and custom blinking stuff. those medallion necklaces that the PP was giving away...this site I'm looking at has 2500 pieces priced at $1.93 a piece. that's almost 5 grand!! I thought it would be neat to have blinking blue cooler shaped pins like the vulcans had the blinking torches. still trying to find a decent price though.
Funny that Karl's name should come up today. I was just talking yesterday to my friend that works at the PP. She thinks the clue writer is someone in marketing - not the newsroom. Her take on Karl is that he's working with retirement in site and wouldn't be writing clues.
It'll be interesting down the line when we eventually find out.
okay...this is actually cool. we could get 1000 cooler shaped blue flashing led magnetic pins for $1250. say there's about 50 of us...we all pitch in 25 bucks, we easily make the amount. you probably wouldn't want to give them out in a parade after paying all that money, but it could provide hype and allow us to sell them the following year and also possibly pave the way of us being an authentic part of the winter carnival (cuz what winter carnival group DOESN'T have something cool to give out??). other option...this site also has celluloid buttons (regular plastic buttons) that you can print stuff on and it has one flashing light. 100 buttons 2 1/4" buttons is $240 (they also have different sizes). Again, say there's 50 of us...everybody pitches in 5 bucks. We might want more than 100, and they offer varying quantities.
I just wish that you didn't have to buy like 6 million of everything to get a price break, but it's mostly for companies that don't mind blowing that much just to get some extra business...or crazy people that like blinky things...such as the PP has proved.
$150.00 Minimum Please estimate $15.00 per LED light. Pricing may include wiring, lights, sequencer, chip, design and custom sewing. Cost of garnment not included.
Each piece is custom created to your specifications.
Propane torches? That orange liquid that Menard's sells for melting snow quickly? I wonder if they make battery packs for the "Steam Buggy"?
That reminds me...I wonder if we could use our Steam Buggy to melt the ice dams on the edge of the roof? I'll have to read the instructions and see if it can be used outdoors with the proper grounding.
I think i got it all now.....
Anyone know why the one tower of the ice palace is still standing? I keep waiting for it to fall.
might not be... apparently the webcam isn't refreshign right now...

Very cool, Big G - can we get one of everything? The glasses are super cool.
I didn't check the prices on those, but they looked neat.
Shoot! I wanted that JOE!

:::us:::"It lights up!! COOL!" (run for the giveaway table at mad dash speed and grab all the glow sticks and necklaces)
does campbell's honestly think by giving us glow sticks we're going to run out and buy soup??
mental leap.....glow sticks=chicken noodle
joe to me :)
but i'm the only one talking so it's a sad pathetic joe
i'm off! see ya everyone!
p.s. slow to nil response on the march birthday thing...oh well. an early happy birthday to everyone anyway!
Personally, I think it would be way cooler if all the guys bought one of these to wear out hunting.
And of course, the girls can wear these ;-)
That's what caught my eye too! The jacket I mean. I'd be blind without my own specs.
OK.. CM where do we the jackets... I'd wear one :)

wow
That is soooo something I would do.... hmmmm
make yer own maybe? might be as cheap...
Personally while hunting I never liked flashy ;) I always prefered a bit of stealth.
Well not for hunting.... but more for freaking out otehr hunters :)
lol well there is the element of surprise I suppose...
all the same, I'm thinkin I'd rather spend more on tools for the hunt, still liking that hard object scanner they use at some airports now...
What we need is some way to transport alot of warm water to the locations........ mass snow melting :)
Anyone know any fire fighters ;)
Propane torches? That orange liquid that Menard's sells for melting snow quickly? I wonder if they make battery packs for the "Steam Buggy"?

I didn't even thing about torches.... I wouldnt want to burn anything but out in the open snow thats frozen over ;)
burning joe
I think that propane torches would get racked up there with Leaf Blower man and Spot light man though lol
No kidding!
Stay back! I've got a torch and I'm not afraid to use it!
Burn that shovel!
the snow....
the snow....
the snow is on fire
we don't need no water let the &%^*%#&*(%#$ burn
burn, ^&*(%$*^%&(^ burn.
at least if you had the flashing coat on...you would have a nice big area to dig by yourself.
Yeah i'm not thinking anyone wants to hang out with big flashy people in the woods :)... that are burning things.
might have to "volunteer" to keep 'em warm!
What number do I call, in order to sign up???
