I forgot that I didn't go down on #12 at Phalen and instead went right to the

then don't criticize. because i wasone of the faithful who spent hours at ma press the last two 12th clues just to get a paper, and while i wasn't there every night this year, i was there several. i don't recall anyone coming up and intriducing themselves as warmmilk. and i did look a little nuts. i was carrying around the cardboard guy.

I'm thinkin' we need to discuss this over drinks at a local pub called greatwaters....at least once a month for a year....

shooting the breeze live... the good ol' days. that i was never a part of but have quite the record of.

It was fun.  We'd go to McGovern's and play 500.  Something else I'm not good at, but really enjoy.

ares - does carrying cardboard make you look nuts?  ... or could it be something else?  just playing!  did you meet snodgrass down there?

I don't like going down to Mom Press unless I've taken vacation.  I'm one o'those folks that need a good 8 hours to function and I just can't stay up that late.  I'm very much ruled by the Sun, and during the winter I'm ready to toddle at 8:00PM or so.

I like going down; as always ittiz a fun time with The 'Crew.  But ittiz something I just can't do physically and still make it into work.  :(

I think that if it is a requirement to find the medallion that would just be depressing. However, you could have one medallion finder for each induction and then perhaps one or two other people that have somehow had a positive impact on treasure hunting in some capacity. It could be noodling, it could be publishing maps, it could even be helping mark trees in the woods. I just think it would be fun to put together. If people actually want to move forward with this we could have a breeze-shoot, I am definitely for that, lets figure a time and place. Perhaps the Re-hash would be a good opportunity to have some initial dialogue. Let me know.

There was the time when we celebrated Inks' burfday and the tornado came thru...  Downtown STP was w/o electricity, dark everywhere, the rain in heavy, dark sheets.  And McGovern's plate glass windows buckled and bent.  Was weird to sit there and watch them.  The only light we had that time were the candles on Inks' cake.

We did a costume Halloween party at McGovern's, too.  Mom came as a p.g. nun; Dad was a priest - was hysterical.  I went in my RenFest costume and bets were made as to when my pulchritude would pop out.  Never did, even though the guys kept tossing quarters down on the floor for me to pick up...

And then there was the time I learned how to put quarters between my legs and drop them in a cup on the floor.  THAT'S HARD!!!  And there was the time SUMBUDDY put a green rubber in my box o'smokes and I didn't find it until I got home...  And the time Eags and I bought the rubbers and filled them with water...

We've had a big group at Inks and Ter's well into the wee hours numerous times.  Once Eags and I walked around with tin foil on our heads so the aliens couldn't get into our brains...  And once I made the 12 hour chicken on the grill...  Lost my car...  Played cards...  And Pictionary with The 'Crew is A HOOT!!!  You should see Ter draw Asia!!!  And I found The Puck
in my coat pocket!!!  I've still got it!

I've never NOT had a fun time with 'Heads.

Green, thanks for the vote of confidence. I was positive about the park early on, but didn't dig anywhere near that tree until after the 10th clue. 3M is the one that deserves the props.

If someone can email me about the monthly events, I will attend those I can. I promise myself that I will keep up with this board, but inevitably I get too busy.

No user inform…

How exciting!  Nice to see you all here online.

I'm relatively new to medallion hunting, but I've spent my share of evenings standing down in line at the paper at 11:30 at night... And I have to say, the PP DOES reward the people who pick the paper up in person. And I'm not just talking about those nifty red headbands with the bulldog logo on them or the free chili samples... The people who stand in line to wait for the paper have an exclusive on the clue for awhile: the paper even delays posting the clue on TwinCities.com.   True, we all use our cell phones to call the clue in to our friends waiting in the parks and we post them here at the Water Cooler, but you can hardly blame the paper for that.

Anyway, thanks to THX and everyone else involved in making this discussion forum available to us, thanks to the Pioneer Press for sponsoring the hunt, thanks to the clue writer for keeping us captivated for a week or two every year... I would thank my mother and father and my first acting coach, but I understand it's time for a commercial break.

Isn't the showing at 12:30 me2? I plan on being there.

Thu, 02/03/2005 - 12:01 PM Permalink
me2

well just to be safe-I didnt want to say 12:30 and have it be 12.

Also: this is a unique family- like to talk and very positive for their life situation. They act as if from a farm in southern Minnesota- that 'trusting, happy, off the farm smile' -hmmm I dont know how to explain it, you need to meet them.

Heyward did get hurt at work at Coca Cola, he is considered disabled, and is currently living with technically no job- his wife is sooo petite and sweet. and that daughter is full of energy, but beautiful! I get the feeling they all live together, but not sure. It was unfortunate about the registered button in this particular case senario. Sounds like he and his wife, Kelly, will take the grocery money cause they need it. and Ryan and Coleen (mom) will take the trip somehow. Another family member was Sean, I didnt hear or see much of him at the press conference. The money I believe is split even between them.

-This is another great opportunity for the Cooler Crew to do something right.   You cant just say because they found the medallion that they should have to pay their own way to the NTFCF movie. This family literally cannot afford the luxury of attending this film- so
for anyone who wants to donate to their movie admission tickets please see me on Saturday
. Me2, Ares, Chris Digger, CM Wicked Nick & Coco
invited them as "Cooler Crew guests"-
and they accepted-that alone is cool. and we did it right in front of Carol Robertson haha

How cool is it to be a Cooler Crew guest!!!???
we should start doing that at other events :)
I want a Cooler Crew Guest Pass !!!

the guy did not want to get off the phone with me

he called me back

and he wants to talk with me again before sat

I felt like I was a bother to him but he was completely HIGH on the Cooler Crews acceptance of them and our graciousness
(which I hope I was speaking for everyone here)

I told him they didnt have to feel obligated to attend the movie or the Re-Hash if they had other things going on but he said they are hoping to attend both.
Also we talked about how to get out of a park with a medallion-they were so nervous.
Heyward was sooo excited to get a call from some man at the legislature at the state capitol-he isnt sure what that was leading to yet.

5 x $8 + $40 bucks right? that truly is nothing for so many of us pooled together

AND they will not only sign autographs in the guides but tell you what the medallion looks like, the great things that have happened to them this week, their excitement, their life!

Me2 paid for me to get into the movie because I (silly) thought it was an actual theatre where I could pay with a CC CC (hee) instead of a dude with a cashbox.  So I'll happily pay it forward and put me down for a 5 spot, me2, If I'm not at the movie on Saturday.

Doesn't that come out to 90 people, Me2?

With Red's $5, it would then be 80 people.

If my math is correct...  And I'm not guaranteeing it is!

Mr. Med Hunter

why do you guys think that the "north st. paul" one went missing.....

I was unaware of a missing medallion in N St. Paul. I have been hunting in NSP since they resurrected the hunt three years ago and it's always been turned in. Was the one missing in recent years? I know the Shoreview one went missing a few years back.
