In other news, color me annoyed. Mrs. Frosti calls me this morning. She said that animal control paid us a visit because somebody complained that "we are letting our dog run wild in the neighborhood." Ha. While I admit he has gotten away twice since we moved here in June (honest Officer, I turned my back and he was just gone!) I hardly think this constitutes "running wild." Especially since there are a few dogs that really do run wild in the neighborhood. Case in point, the chocolate lab that craps in my yard almost every day.
But in reality, I'm annoyed with myself. When we decided to move to this house we knew it didn't have a fence. Mrs. Frosti and I were in agreement that we would install Invisible Fencing to contain the hound. Once we moved in, she talked me out of it. First in the summer, she used the "He's being so good, he never even tries to run away." arguement. We had lots of other stuff to spend time and money on then, so I let it go. Then, after the second time he got away I started planning to install it again for the immediate weekend. I knew it wouldn't be much longer before the ground froze and I wouldn't be able to do anything until next spring. This time it was the "I'd rather not spend the money right now." arguement.
So I listened, and now the next 6 months are going to be a PITA with the dog. Next spring, I'm just going to the store, buying the I.F. and installing it. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.
Well, that will be fun. I think we need to brew up some "Fencing Ale" for the occasion. Something light and easily quaffable, but with some fun hopping. :)Â
<edit> Oh, and what kind of lilly-livered no good neighbor calls animal control when they know where the animal in question comes from and can just go tell the owners that that they are annoyed with the situation and would they please handle it. Always lots of time for escalation later.

Yeah, I guess so. But, if it was annoying them that the dog was out (the few times he was) I don't mind that they called. I wish they would have talked to me first, but I'm in the wrong on this one.
Fencing beer, that's a grand idea. Barricade brew! Palisade pilsner! Fencepost porter! Impediment IPA! Hadrian's Hefeweisen! Incarceration Krausen!
If you didn't get so much snow I'd suggest laying the IF on top of the ground. That's what a neighbor of mine does, she's renting adn has a small house dog who only needs a small space.
I'm not sure that'd work in your part of the freezer.
Yeah, I can see mowing as being problematic with a wire on the ground. I accidently ran over plugged in extension cords while mowing lawn as a kid. Great fun and excitement. Heh.
Yay, hockey tonight! I'm leaving work early and road tripping to St. Cloud with my brother and a couple of his punk friends to see the Gopher/Huskie game. Should be a hoot.
Gophers beat St Cloud 2-1 in overtime. It was a hard fought game, but both teams did not play their best. However, the Gophers seem to have a will to win, because they really turned it on in the overtime. They have a tendency to be able to turn it on when they need to, which can be very fun to watch.
There was no snow and therefore good driving both ways. I had two Newcastles before the game with dinner and 2 Killians afterward.
I bought a mixed 12 from Flying Dog Brewery - tried the Scottish Porter last night (very interesting - blending 2 of my favorite singles, as it were) and their Tire Bite Golden Ale (okay, nothing special). They are the brewery that has the Ralph Steadman (of Hunter S. Thompson fame/infamy) artwork on their bottle labels and packaging. I'll save you one of the Scottish Porters, Frosti!
You mean a "mixed litter" right? The Scottish Porter must be a new one, I haven't heard of it. I'm surprised they don't have a cutsey dog related name for it like their other beers. I was also surprised that they have their own record label.
OK! I now have $35 worth of credit at Barnes & Noble in the form of a $25 gift card from my leader and a $10 gift card from my previous leader. What should I buy??
I'm getting Hop High by Crooked Stillfor everyone on my cd list this year. Avatar and I saw them at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival back in July. They're fantastic.
OTOH, I don't see them on the B&N website. I ordered direct from the website.
Ah, you lucky person. I just make an amazon wish list and let everyone shop there - they get to choose which of my several hundred selections to buy, and I get something I want.
I have an amazon wish list too. But these cards are from work people and unsolicited, so I can't complain that they're not following the approved process.
Arr, matey - I have a feeling we're going to be wired, alright. I was thinking I should bring one or two of the monster bottles I bought over, so we don't try drinking them all that night.
I tried to find your wishlist, but it doesn't pop up under any of your psuedonyms or monikers - that I know, anyway.
that goes double for me. (the weekend part, not the very beery part)

that the way I feel when I walk thru my yard and I haven't picked up after my dog.
heh

Best thing ever, we love it, the dogs love it, the townie kids love it.
Bobb doesn't even want to hear the beep, I'm sure we could take out the battery.
Pete, (RIP,) used to challenge it every day, She was half blind, and would just walk until she heard the beep, then turn.

Aww.

I could lay it on top, but that just seems silly. Then I'd have this bare wire to worry about.
Cute pups, davis!
Yeah, I can see mowing as being problematic with a wire on the ground. I accidently ran over plugged in extension cords while mowing lawn as a kid. Great fun and excitement. Heh.
I know you can also put the "IF" in parts of your house....like a line around the kitchen to keep them out.
Â
But I would advise against that personally, since it must put out a hell of an electric field, which messes up human systems bunches.
Yeah. Having it in the house doesn't help me much.
Unless you can put a collar on... nevermind.Â
They have violent wands and tens units for that sort of thing, one need not resort to invisible fencing and dogcollars.
Unless, of course, one chooses to...
ZZZAPPP!
But I would advise against that personally, since it must put out a hell of an electric field, which messes up human systems bunches.
This is coming from a guy named "sparky," note well.
Yes, I have many messed up systems. Especially upstairs.
Heh.
Better upstairs than downstairs. ;-)
would you need to worry about a person with a "pacemaker" visiting???
You'd hate to see "gramps" keel over in the front yard.

Last time I went to st. cloud for a hockey game........a 1991 halloween blizzard.
Must have been fun getting back from that one!
Have fun! And watch the weather dude - supposed to snow.
Here's my favorite Renaissance act ever. http://www.dedbob.com/main.htm

This site is for those of you who wondered what cartoon characters skeletons look like.Â
Pretty cool. Too bad he doesn't do just skulls, eh Dock?

Woo! Sounds like a good time.

Interesting. I'd like to see a Ralph Steadman drawn music video sometime. :)

BEER! Oh wait, I don't think B&N carries that...
Exactly. If they KNEW me, they'd give me a Northern Brewer gift certificate. Of course, that would probably be looked down upon by upper management.
Well, you know how I feel about upper management.Â
Wait, aren't YOU management??
Upper even.
Hypocrite!

found it!!! heh
Ha!
I think I'm going to get some CDs. The question is, which ones...
I'm getting Hop High by Crooked Stillfor everyone on my cd list this year. Avatar and I saw them at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival back in July. They're fantastic.
OTOH, I don't see them on the B&N website. I ordered direct from the website.

OK, this is getting silly. I just got another $20 Borders gift card. More media!
I'll take it off your hands if you'd like.
Ah, you lucky person. I just make an amazon wish list and let everyone shop there - they get to choose which of my several hundred selections to buy, and I get something I want.
I have an amazon wish list too. But these cards are from work people and unsolicited, so I can't complain that they're not following the approved process.
I stopped off at Town Hall last night and picked up a growler of their Black Snow Coffee Porter. For the wiring project, dontcha know.
Arr, matey - I have a feeling we're going to be wired, alright. I was thinking I should bring one or two of the monster bottles I bought over, so we don't try drinking them all that night.
