I've known about the Print Screen (Prt Scr) button taking a full screenshot and saving it in the clipboard for ages (and with Ubuntu it pop ups a handy "save screenshot" window as well).

I never knew that you could hold down the Alt button at the same time and get a screenshot of just the currently highlighted window!

explains the diffence...heh

I've used the print screen/microsoft paint deal too, like Mikey mentioned...

I dont think i've ever used ALT with it though...

Here's a good one for ya kitch. How do I get creditors to stop calling me regarding my brother's student loans?

I didn't cosign anything for him, and I don't even know how they got my home phone number.
Tue, 09/11/2007 - 1:39 PM Permalink
OT

You didn't co-sign anything, but he must have consolidated his loans and used you as a refence. That's their sneaky was of getting around the co-sign thing but still having a contact if someone is in arrears on a loan.

no....I can find family history on just about anybody...

its not really all that hard...

but to answer your question...

Just tell them to stop...they are breaking the law...

if not...tell them...you will file formal complaints with the FTC and make an A.G. complaint.

normally I'd play games with them for the fun of it...I'd say call here and there...give them sexlines etc...
Tue, 09/11/2007 - 1:56 PM Permalink

Does that law pertain to money that was loaned by the government though?
Tue, 09/11/2007 - 2:24 PM Permalink
KITCH

yes...2 reason's ...

one...its a state issue...

two...its not his loan...can't bug a 3rd party more than once if told not to bother you.

hard part....gotta prove it was intentional...

Thanks dude - And I like St. Pauli Girl beer already. I think it's a bit more $ than my Icehouse though. But should be worth it. My Icehouse is 5.5% but I think it's like 130 calories per serving or something like that.

Did you find anything on mixed drinks? I think my 7/7 might be OK if I used diet 7 but still think the Seagrams might be a bit high in sugars and stuff.

I heard that Gin was low cal. I would think that vodka would be since it's from potatoes instead of sugar like rum but who knows.

well...now this is a whole different twist on all of this...

 http://www.diet-blog.com/archives/2006/05/23/diet_alcohol_get_drunk_quickly.php

The stomach had emptied half of its contents in 15.3 minutes after the diet drink and 21.1 minutes with the sugar-sweetened drink. The peak blood alcohol concentration was significantly higher with the diet drink than with the regular drink. The blood alcohol concentration was also higher with the artificial sweetener than with the sugar-sweetened drink.

ok heres a real one for you I bought a fuel pump for my Tahoe and one of the lines on it broke off after it was in should that be covered under worinty??? please say yes then the other one well I was taking the tank out to get it to checker broke off!! someone shoot help or find me!!!
Sat, 09/15/2007 - 3:31 PM Permalink
zephyrus

I doubt that the fuel line would be covered under warranty, as you were just working in the area of it and they could assume that you had done something that may have aided to it's destruction. I am not saying they won't cover it, but I don't assume that they will.

I not sure that I understood the second part, another fuel line broke off as you were taking the tank out, to get it over to Checker? That I am very confident will not be covered by any warranty, as it was not a component failure, but a mechanical failure (as in the mechanic broke it somehow).

Is the line on the tank a hard line? I am picturing one of the 3-4 inch long metal tubes that most likely come out in a 90 degree bend out of the top of the tank. If so, is it attached to a plate that could be replaced, or is it part of the entire tank - meaning the whole tank is shot. If so, even after a thorough cleaning of the tank DO NOT try and weld it... I am sure you wouldn't have anyway, but it has to be said nonetheless...

Something you may be able to do to fix either one, if there is enough of the broken line attached to either component, is to find a bulk piece of flexible fuel hose, and clamp it in to bridge the other lines to it.

All I can think of to help ya without seeing it.

Hey Kitch.. what is the secret recipe for booya? It can have different kinds of meat and veggies in it but the real foundation is the spice combination and no one is talking... none of the churches or fire houses will give theirs out (my rather outstanding batch was from a Lutheran church in South St Paul)...it only comes out once a year and I can't wait another whole year! Help!

I would love to get a good booya recipe. I haven't had booya since 1976 - too long!!!

Does one really need the ox tails in it?

And I don't want to make 25 gallons of it - just a good soup pot full.

I would think booya would be big up here, but I've never seen it - just pasties. (a meal in a pastry, invited by Cornish miners, pronounced with a short a, unlike the "apparel" most people think of)

Booyah

1 lb. butter

25 lbs. chicken, cut in pieces and browned

5 lbs. beef, cubed and browned

5 lbs. onions browned with meat

5 lbs. celery, diced

5 lbs. carrots, diced

3 pecks potatoes, peeled and diced

5 lbs. shredded cabbage

5 lbs. fresh tomatoes, diced

1 cup salt

4 teaspoons pepper

1 cup chopped parsley

The following may be added if desired:

5 No. 2 cans whole kernel corn or equivalent of fresh cooked corn,

2 lbs. dried split peas, soaked overnight and cooked until tender,

2 lbs. dried navy beans, soaked overnight and cooked until tender.

Brown meat, add seasoning and enough hot water to cook until tender.

Debone cooked chicken and cut into cubes. Place all the meat in a

large pot. Add vegetables in the order given according to the length

of time for cooking each, with enough additional boiling water for

cooking the mixture. Watch the mixture carefully to prevent sticking

and burning. Add more water as needed.

Makes 25 gallons

-------------------------

Backyard Booya

5 lbs. meaty soup bones

2 lbs. oxtails

5 lbs. stewing chicken

4 lbs. meaty neck bones (beef)

2 lbs. carrots, sliced

6 large onions, cut up

Large stalk celery, cut up

6 large potatoes, diced

1 large cabbage, cut up

1 can whole kernel corn

1 can peas, drained

1 can green lima beans

1 can cut green beans

1 can cut yellow beans

3 cans tomatoes

Cook the soup bones just until meat is tender. Using a large

canning kettle add beef broth and fill with water, so it is 3/4

full. Add the rest of the uncooked meat and chicken.

Cook until meat falls off bones. Bone all meat and remove chicken

skin. (Discard skin).

Cut meat in pieces. Place broth on stove to simmer. Add onions,

celery, carrots, cabbage and potatoes. Cook for 2 hours. Add all

canned vegetables. Bring to a slow boil, stirring constantly.

Add all the meat. Cook slowly for another 2 hours. In a square

piece of cheesecloth put about 6 cloves of garlic, a good handful

of marjoram and bay leaves. Tie and put in with the vegetables.

Salt and pepper to taste. Paprika and other spices may be added,

if desired.

KITCH

but..if it was me making it up against the die hards of ssp...

I'd do this one...

but I'd SMOKE MY MEAT and use brisket instead to give it MY TWIST TO WIN!!!

Ingredients:

3 1/4 pounds beef rump or chuck roast

4 tablespoons cooking oil

2 slices bacon; diced

3 pounds onions; thinly sliced

1 cup beef broth; (canned is ok)

1 pint beer; more if needed later

2 teaspoons sugar

2 tablespoons parsley; chopped

1 bay leaf

1/2 teaspoon thyme

2 teaspoons salt

5 grinds pepper

2 tablespoons cornstarch

3 tablespoons tarragon vinegar*

8 medium potatoes; boiled, halved, peeled

1/4 cup chopped parsley for garnish

Turn this recipe into a puzzle! [click]

Directions:

Trim meat and cut into 3/4x2x4 inch pieces; brown in oil. Reduce heat and cook bacon until barely crisp and not too brown. Saute onions until limp and golden. Add broth, beer, sugar, and seasonings, up to the cornstarch.

Simmer, covered, 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours until meat is tender (rump takes longer.) Add more beer, if needed during cooking. Degrease the stew and check seasonings. Mix cornstarch and vinegar and add to the stew. Cook 10 minutes until thickened. Add potatoes, garnish with parsley.

  • 1/8 teaspoon dried tarragon and 3 tablespoons cider vinegar is an acceptable substitute if you don't have tarragon vinegar available.

Makes 3 1/2 gallons of hearty stew for a family or neighborhood party.
