"Those of you that did know him personally you shaped his life," said Nancy Nelson, Bill's wife. "And those of you Billy never met he considered you a treasured friend ... Billy lived in constant gratitude to you."

nice quote...

There was someone else we saw on Wednesday as well. I could and still can only think of his first name. Blond guy going gray - Alan ??????.

Ares and Sue - I'm guessing you're both exhausted today.

How do I thank you all for your support, prayers, and love? You have no idea how much it touched me to see your familiar faces at both the visitation and the memorial service. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the most beautiful flower arrangement I have ever seen. CM seemed surprised when he introduced himself to my Mom and she knew instantly who he was and all about him.... I told him of course she did... you are really and truly my friends... and a big part of my life. You sure came through for me! Those of you who couldn't be there in person but were kind enough to be there in spirit too. As for how we are doing today... well just kind of running on empty, though we have one more memorial lunch at WCCO with all of the people who were unable to attend due to putting the pm shows together. I just don't even know how to describe how much your friendship and support has meant to me. Yesterday I talked a little bit about what my father taught me about gratitude. Don't take a single act of kindness or a second spent in the company of friends for granted. I am so very grateful for all of you.

Terry... Alan Lotsberg (sp?) He played Willie Ketchum on a children's show called Clancy and Willie (Carmen the nurse was there too) John Gallus who played Clancy passed away a year ago but both his kids attended. I think I hold the record for most appearances on that show... cuz every time you were on you got a goodie bag.

I thought I should mention this - Mrs. Bear and I went to the visitation, and after the fact, Mrs. Bear said "Nancy was just so nice, I'd never met her before in my life and I felt like I was so welcome and I knew her forever. What kind people these must be to be able to be so generous at the funeral of a loved one."

I was really emotional after the service. Actually, I was really bent out of shape, because I was freaking out that I was at my own funeral, that the common theme of it was how much he was really truly in love with Nancy, and as the guy who's starting out a marriage hopefully half as good, it was hard to listen to. As I left the reception, I got lost, and I turned around and almost walked into Amelia Santanello and Teri Gruca. I asked them "How do I get out of here?" and they told me. Figuring I never had the opportunity again, I said "Amelia? You're one of the most gorgeous women I've ever seen. Please, please please stop with the puffy shirts!" She looked taken aback, said "Um, okay..." and I said ok, bye and left.

my Mom and she knew instantly who he was and all about him....

Nancy was truly a saint. Being recently widowed, I planned on shelling out some advice and supporting words for Nancy, but when I actually met her, she ended up making me cry and was consoling me before I knew what happened. At her husbands funeral no less!!

I was blown away to say the least. Very impressive family you have Sue.

You already know I'm a big fan of your fathers but I'm now a fan of Nancy and the girls as well.

Of course I've always been a huge fan of you & ares.

Good fricken people I say!

BTW - Thanks for the ride

Willie & Carmen at the same place?!?

Damn!

I was on that show many times too. I think I can find a picture on my bros site somewhere. That would have been way cool to see them.

Willie's upside down chin guy was hilarious!

I remember posting this before because I remember the comment about it looking like I'm lighting up a bowl while Clancy & Willie are showing us something.

Notice the name on the door next to me. HAHA! And yes, I am out of my closet :sheepish: :sheepish:

Just as Willie was if I remember correctly

Check out the hottie in the mini-skirt behind us kids! :pbpt:

How fun to see those old pics, CM!

I wonder how many of us in the Cooler were on WCCO at some point in our childhood?

I was on Arly Haberly's Around the Town show when I was five years old. I am quite sure it was on WCCO. Our church choir learned Christmas carols in English and the language of origin (Silent Night in English and German, for example) and we were invited to sing on TV. I sang the Swedish solo on When Christmas Morn Is Dawning. I remember that it was fun and exciting, and I was not the least bit nervous, although I was puzzled as to why all the adults kept asking me if I was nervous. Sure would be fun to have a photo of that day.

I was also on Popeye and Pete - can't remember which channel that was on. We were late getting there because the neighbor girl got carsick on the way over there. All of our parents were sure we'd been in an accident or something, when actually we were in a bathroom somewhere getting the puke off everyone's clothes. Pete pulled my ponytail - that was cool.

I was on the air on WCOW, that became KDWB, that broadcast from SSP years ago. My friends and I would walk down to watch them broadcast and occasionally they'd put us on the air. One of my sons was on the Steve and Sharon show at KSTP with his pet mice.

Does anyone remember Jimmy Valentine's, Jimmy's Junior Jamboree? I always wanted to be on that, but I had no talent.

That's it!! Thanks. It was driving me nutz. It was almost as if I could spit his name out, but then couldn't. I would love to have met nurse Carmen.

The last time we were at the Old Log Theater was with Santa Dave to see the Axel and his Dog production.

Brad... thank you so much for taking those pictures. That day just seems like a blur... it is nice to be able to reflect on it (and my amazing friends who sent those beautiful flowers and were with me in body or spirit) Wow... it still just doesn't seem real. I picked up the phone to call him yesterday...

Our good friend Bill died just before 6 this morning. :crying: Bill's wife is going to call with funeral arrangements. Suit and ties will be forbidden at the service. Minnesota Vikings apparel preferred.

It's a sad day today. But I'm sure that Bill will be arriving at the gates driving a brand new state-of-the-art Winnebago with 50 yard line tickets in hand.
