The City of Savage has approximately 280 acres of city-managed park space.

That is 1/2 the size of Como! It can't be that hard to find

The 10th annual horseshoe hunt, sponsored by the Dan Patch Historical Society, is under way!

Clues are given out each week that lead to the location of a special horseshoe hidden somewhere on public property. Whoever finds the horseshoe wins $100 and an extra $100 if they have a registered 2005 Dan Patch Days button. The winner of the horseshoe hunt will also ride with their family in the Dan Patch Days carriage in the parade

on June 26.

Each week, clues for the horseshoe hunt will be available on the Savage Pacer’s Web site at www.savagepacer.com on Friday mornings and weekly in the printed version of the Pacer when it comes out on Saturdays. Clues also will be posted weekly at the Savage Library and Savage City Hall.

Anyone who thinks they’ve found the horseshoe should contact Jens at the Razor’s Edge, 12385 Ottawa Ave., in downtown Savage. The phone number is (952) 890-5260.

For more information on Dan Patch Days visit the Web site at www.danpatchdays.org.

Well that sucks huge donkey dick since I'd have to pay them $1000.00 to let my wife not go in the parade.  I'd loose $900.00 if I found the sucker!

I don't know where I was truly going other than to point out that she would never ever ride in any parade for any reason.  If they said that your family HAD to ride in it I would have to forfeit the prize.  ;-)  Just a little yolk that was written wrong is all.

Is this thing a real horseshoe? I'm guessin a metal detector may be useful then, unless they're smart and hide it in a metal object...

save my gas money for the oakdale hunt, I believe last year the prize was 1500 bucks, cash. You don't have to register anything, you don't have to be stuck in a parade, just plain and simple. Unless they changed the rules this year...

Well I'm probably going to Savage tomorrow. I need to finish my Cleary Lake multi, find the Hidden Valley cache, and pick up the horseshoe. Rain or no rain.

The "park" is huge, but the "available" non-woods, non-trails area is not I got a waypoint, hope to find a becent aerial photo. I drew a map of the facilities. The bummer is that a group of 30+ people were having a picnic in the shelter, wher there is a cool fireplace

Ian, I was out there this morning myself.  I was leaving as the picnic party was just getting there.  Things fit nicely in the small area, being that there is what I assume is the river, and the fireplace there.  I wasn't sure if we were looking for an actual horseshoe, what size it was, etc.  I checked out some obvious spots, but didn't see anything.
