I was able to post a comment just now. ty4 the props j I thought it was kinda cool too. Unfortunately I couldn't get it submitted in time for the news.
BTW - You might wanna change your post above me2 as you need a new roof as well.
What a goofball. Severe thunderstorm comes through with wind, hail and lightning. Where does Cluey go? On the oldest elevated highway bridge in St. Paul - 50 feet in the air - above a river no less!
The audio does not do that hailstorm justice - that kind of racket is deafening in a car. Does your camera have sound filters on it? I was amazed I could still hear your voice over the noise.
It was deafening in the car. The mic on my camera is a directional mic that was facing forward at the time so all it picked up was my voice and the hail hitting the windshield. The pellets that were hitting the roof were way loud.
I was reliving the drive today and my co-workers came to the conclusion that I need a chauffeur to drive so I can continue to do all the stuff I do while I'm driving.
I was video taping, with one hand while talking on the phone with the other while steering with my knees in a hailstorm over the most dangerous bridge in Minnesota. I need help. :eyeroll:
Yep, stormed for sure... Wierd where we were. Sun was shining from the west, but could see some pretty big clouds and what looked to be pretty nasty to the north... Watching some TV, then all of a sudden the wind picked up, rain fell, and the power started to flicker several times before finally off it went. Then the tornado sirens started. Grabbed the portable radio, and the news was going nuts. Apparently tornado touched down in Orono, near Stubs Bay road. No wonder things got wierd around the house, that was only about two miles from home, and it sure got my attention. Glad this went the other direction.
My oldest son was at a friends on Long Lake and saw the tornado come out of the wall cloud. It took out several trees in the friend's yard and a lot of trees at his neighbors.
He's a weather freak, so couldn't have happened to a better guy.
Went out for a bit on Sunday afternoon, drove around the corner 1/2-mile from home and trees were down all over the place. Read the news and the weather service indicated where the tornado touched down, and it was a whole lot closer than I thought. Whew... All is well (thanks kat)
Friday night we got absolutely no sleep. Besides lightning and downpours for four straight hours, we had the in-laws Sheltie dog staying over for the weekend. Nice dog, but she just wouldn't calm down - kept running from room to room and panting 100 miles an hour. I laid her at the end of the bed and tried to pin her down with my leg while trying to get back to sleep at the same time, but to no avail. I guess we got close to 5" of rain overnight.
Until 2:45 p.m.: Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin and Ramsey Counties
Really odd timing as we just had our annual tornado drill at 9am today. Now they're speaking over the standard announcement telling us that it's not a drill. haha
I find it humorous that several of us here at Dunwoody were standing in our conference room around 2:00 looking out the huge picture window (which is floor to ceiling and wall to wall glass) that faces downtown and the Basilica..
commenting on how hard the rain is coming down and watching all the water start to flood our sidewalks and streets... then saw it get really dark outside for a few seconds...
I go back to my desk about 2:20 to see an email alert from Kare11 - Tornado Warning.. A Tornado is spotted 35W and 26th Ave.. damage to the Mpls Convention Center is reported (which is like 6 blocks from us)... huh
Now we start to hear sirens going off... :pbpt:
I feel pretty safe being in a building that has been here since 1914.
when they mentioned the convention center on the news about an hour ago I thought they were talking about some other town somewhere - I've only heard of a tornado landing in Minneapolis one other time---back in the early 1980's near Chicago and Lake St.
Our poor employees. They've been in stairwells all day. They just released the 4th all clear. And that's in addition to the drill earlier today. Boy what a rush of steaming hot air once those stairwell doors were opened. All of our ramp drain covers blew off because of the downpour. Hwy 10 was closed up here for flooding for a bit too. Here and gone now
I woulda just went to the parking garage and stayed in my car with the radio or something. I don't think I'd like the stairwell at all considering what happened in 9/11
Two days of heavy dark blue/gray clouds broke yesterday evening at sundown - about 7:00. The sun hit the UNDERSIDE of the cloud blanket, making the lower clouds glow a surreal looking yellow....
I had the opposite. The big maple next door usually keeps it's leaves until after the snow flies. I never get to rake them until they are frozen to the ground or until spring when they are stuck to the ground. I was able to clean them all up this year.

i'm amused that when the sirens sounded (and were heard very well here on the 29th floor) everyone's reaction was to go look out a window.
