Just caught up on the board. I don't think I will be able to do the AW Hunt  I have so much to do and I don't have time to become obsessed. On another note..The Popcorn ceilings.
I had to go to Florida and help my Mom with her broken Femur bone, and had a wonderful male friend stay with my teenage boys. My friend was about 25 at the time. He taught my boys a new way to test if the spaghetti was done by throwing the noodles up onto the ceiling. If they stuck they were done. Needless to say some noodles were still hanging there when I got home. I tried to take them done but was ruining the popcorn ceiling! So I just put a few coats of white paint over the broken off noodles. We lived in an apartment and I didn't want to be charged for a ruined ceiling. Anyways I still laugh when I think about this story.

It was posted on our double super secret Cooler message board this morning about the fire that you folks had last night. We're so sorry to hear that you're going through a rough time, and we're confident that you're going to come back better than ever. A restaurant like yours isn't so much a place to eat as a historical landmark.
The Cooler Crew is big on historical landmarks, in fact, we know where most of 'em are in St. Paul, and when we like one, we don't like seeing it go. So if you don't mind, we'd like you to let us know when the grand re-opening of Yarusso Bros. will be once you get through reconstruction. You were so kind and generous to the entire Cooler Crew during the medallion hunt this past year, we'd be honored if we could be your first customers when you reopen. So - got enough room for table of 150? We're big eaters. Keep the bar open too.
We were just talking about Yarussos at a party I was at last night. One of the guys there had a son who helped put out the fire from on top of the roof. He said that his partner swung his pick ax backwards to break a hole in the roof for ventilation and accidently hit the fireman next to him in the face with the pick side of the ax. It went right through his nose and cheek! Ouch!
Wifey needs time away something fierce, so I'm trying to plan a 3 day vacation out of town. So far, thoughts are NYC, Nashville, Vegas. Would appreciate suggestions if anybody has them...
3 Days would be drive to Black Hills and back - if you go before Memorial Day you can see all the tourist traps and won't have to worry about hotel space.
yah. i know. been there. did london from friday night to monday morning.
ok, so maybe there's a lot more to see there than 3 days will get you, but its possible. and its only an 8 hour flight across the pond.
and you can get air fare for about 600 bucks right now round trip per person from msp to lhr which is actually cheaper than lgw trip, which is almost always cheaper.
but since you don't want to go to europe, i'd do vegas.
ya know i keep telling sue that my goal with the iphone is to be making enough cash from it so that when someone asks me on friday afternoon what i'm doing for the weekend, i can say we're going to london.
or paris
or amsterdam.
or pretty much anywhere on the western end of europe.
Just saw an ad on TV for Deadwood, SD. Might be cool, to see what there is to see.
Some of those water park places in Wisconsin, have some nice resort accomodations. Most outside stuff is shut down this time of year, but probably get a good rate on a room?
Fresh seafood on Fishermans Warf and the some chocolate at Girridelis(SP) in San Francisco?
B&Bs in Stillwater fun times for sure.
Eagle's Nest (if they are open) or Stone Hearth Inn, Little Marias. Boat house room sits right on the shore of Lake Superior (bed and breakfast)...
Wherever you go, just remember the rule of "E"... If it ends in "E" it will cost extra
One of the retired guys that works part time at my work just got back from 3 weeks in Hawaii, and now they're in Florida for Spring Training. Must be nice.
The North Shore is very nice in the Spring time....Dad and I stayed at Bluefin Bay a few years ago and had a great time bumming in Grand Marais. Even took a drive up to Thunder Bay, although there didn't seem to be much there. The streets rolled up about 5:00pm....or we just didn't know where to look .
Wisconsin Dells wouldn't be a bad choice either, but I would wager that even in the resorts that have "spas" and the like, there will be lots of families with kids...in case that's not your thing.
Chicago or Mackinac Island could be fun too? Not sure how much it costs anymore, but I still remember taking the train to Chicago as a kid - that was really fun....Was a long time ago though!
Redbear, Bluefin Bay looks so cool. My friends who stayed there a lot (before they moved to Florida) loved it. Apparently there is an indoor/outdoor pool - would be so awesome to be in the outdoor pool watching the stars, or the northern lights, should one be so lucky!
Ittiz Eye told me about this place quite some time ago, when I was meeting a friend while in Northern California after a business trip:
Today is Square Root Day, a rare holiday that occurs when the day and the month are both the square root of the last two digits of the current year. Numerically, March 3, 2009, can be expressed as 3/3/09, or mathematically as √9 = 3, or 3² = 3 × 3 = 9.
But is it not a risk that you could lose the buyer by the higher bid?
Anyway - here goes my bid of $160
Let me know.......
....edit - I'm going $165
I'm so flippin' nervous!
Looks like their site is down. I can't get anything exept the front page.
Just saw this listed on Mpls. craigslist:
Found ipod nano (Battle Creek Park)

Found an ipod nano in a rugged part of Battle Creek Park on Feb 25. Will be happy to return it to the owner who can accurately describe it.
