THANKS, McLucky!  That would be Cooler.  While I'd enjoy having Kitch/Ian/Master help/teach me, you could really answer my specific questions.

I'm ssssllllooowwwllllyyy getting over this cold.  *Think* I'm in the end stages...  Man, I HOPE.  Have had this cold 2+ weeks, with a sore throat for a week prior.  And a sinus infection/flu before THAT!  Been sick since about Jan 18...

Actually, starting about noon Fri, then Sat & Sun are the days I've felt the worst with this cold...  Before that it was just a nuisance.  Today took TWO vitamin Cs; and a multi-vitamin.

My Mother is in her 70's, handicapped because of severe arthritis, has paid for Lifeline for years...and they have always done right by her, and have always called us the minute anything went on.

Today, she was having persistent chest pain. Called Lifeline. They sent the paramedics and took her to United about 3:30 this afternoon. She is okay. They did an EKG, ran some tests, her blood pressure is fine and they are keeping her overnight for observation and to have a heart specialist check things out again tomorrow.

Here is the vent...

Lifeline never called any of her family. Not me, not Inks, not my sisters. She laid down there in the ER wondering where the heck her family was and kept watching as anyone came or went.

We went to get her groceries tonight. Took them over there and found she was gone...but didn't know where. First thought she was visiting somewhere, but then realized both her wheelcheer and walker were still there.

Headed home sure we would have a message from Lifeline but no. Just a call from my Mom saying "I hope you know where I am"...but we didn't and she didn't say.

Found on the caller ID that my sister had called without leaving a message. I called her and found all this out...but she was thinking Mom was at Regions. The good news was we found out she's okay and have since heard from her twice once they got her a room.

I am so P!$$ED!!!!!!!!

Lifeline will hear from me tomorrow. Why they didn't call family is beyond me. What if she had a heartattack? What if she had died? When would we be notified? She pays a good amount for that service each month. They will be owing her some free time on that account. There is no excuse. None. A$$HOLE$!!!!!!

Not acceptable!  So happy it had a happy ending and am very curious what their response is tomorrow.

You have to love you're mother's phone message though.  ;)  Sounds like something my mom would have left.

Before I found that my sister had called, I called my Mom's apartment and left a message saying "No, I don't know where you are so it would be good if you let us know."

Just heard from her again. She needs her rollator walker down there so I'll be getting up really early to get that and bring it down to her. I'm also to grab a coat so she has one if they let her go home tomorrow.

Damn Terry- that's an amazing screw up! Why couldnt you talk to Lifeline tonight?  I can't believe she had to be down there alone! I hope you completely give them hell tomorrow when you call them.

I really hope your mom will be doing better. BIG HUG!!!!!

I figure tomorrow I'll be able to talk to the bigger suits that wouldn't be around tonight. I think she pays something like $38 a month for the service. She's used it a few times...usually if she falls and a couple times when she's been sick. They have always called us immediately. This is a royal screw up and definately what could have been the worst time if she was indeed having heart trouble.

I'm ssoooo GLAD your Mom's otay!!!!  As otay as she can be, under the circumstances.  HOW ARE YOU????????

Ter, I've never prayed for those that deserve what's coming to them.  I pray they get more than what their actions deserve.  I never pray for intelligent/supposedly educated idiots.  Ya' did it - ya pay.

I pray for those that are needing of forgiveness.  the @$$-holes you're dealing with...  Forgiveness?

Like I've told you before...I normally clean the house when my wife is gone anyways...I figure that way I can clean it MY way...such as I perfer to use pinesol vs. ammonia (SP?)...I can't stand the smell of it...

Terry, I KNOW you will get some results out of that Lifeline company if it means you have to walk in there and shake stuff up personnally.  Hope things with your Mom are returning to normal, and she can come home soon.

Saddened also to hear about OUTTA!  I have no way to contact her or her family, but please anyone that does pass along our support.  *Anything* that we can do to help - please shoot me an email :).

So this is the "official" lifeline line of bull.

There were no people to be notified on her list. Only ones listed are "responders". Because this was a chest pain call, they consider that a 911 call and the paramedics are the "responders" so the other responders aren't called and because there were none of us that were to be "notified" that didn't happen either.

I did get that straightened out so now we are both "responders" and "to be notified".

I told them how unhappy I was with all this as we had always been notified previously. I also told them I thought this whole notified/responder thing was ridiculous and sounded like some dance routine to keep us from being angry. I then asked why in the world, after all these years that she has used their service, had no one ever told her she could have someone on the "notify" list or that there even was a "notify" list.

The reply...there's no way of going back and knowing what went wrong there.

I also told the woman that this isn't some old senile lady that didn't understand. If anyone had told her ever that there were two lists and to be sure we were called that we should be on both lists, that certainly would have happened.

I'm not done yet and neither is my Mom.

Speaking of Mom, she is still in the hospital. The heart specialist this morning ordered a stress test and said she could go home after that...probably this evening. But the hospital is so busy they couldn't get that stress test scheduled for today so she'll be in until they do the test tomorrow.

The heart specialist told her that everything looked good at this point, but the pain had definately been something caused by the heart. He said he knows that as it was the nitro glycerin that relieved the pain. He's going to put her on some heart medicine and if she ever has this again, he would want to do an angiagram.

We went to see her this evening. She seems in good spirits and looks good and says she feels good. That's all good.

Thanks for allowing my rants.

LL- That was another thing I asked about....where was the common sense. Wouldn't someone think the family might want to know?

The answer - the procedures are clearly laid out and there is no using common sense. They are to follow the procedures. I told her it was time to change those procedures to allow for common decency if not common sense.

OTiS - that's exactly what I kept thinking....BS!

Glad your mom's perkin' up and she's taking this all in stride.  Bet she's anxious to get home and really relax and get comfy.

Say, Digger?  You still job hunting?  And graphic arts, rite?  I think I've run across one or two - you want me to e-gram them to you?  (If I can find them again and you're interested.)
