Repack/downtime tonight
We're going to repack the database tonight -- another step in the process of speeding things back up around here. For safety's sake (and a number of other reasons) we're going to take the site down while we do the repack. It should take a few hours. Repacking is the database equivalent to defragmenting a hard drive. It should free up lots of space and memory on the server, and may give us a significant boost in performance.
We hope to start the repack sometime after 10 PM PST tonight, and the site will probably be down the better part of the rest of the night. We're not sure how long the repack will take, but it will be at least a couple hours, and probably more like a few. We hope to have the site back up before people strat logging in for the morning on Monday.

OK...I've been clued in a bit, and we're working on least delaying the time by a few hours, and possibly waiting a few days.
Personally, I'd rather get it over with tonight, but I think we can make it so we don't slam closed right when you folks get your clue. If no one is having any more problems accessing the site, maybe we can just wait until the hunt is over. Maybe.
I havn't had any problems for a couple of day's.
Lance, personally I don't think this hunt will go on much further. I would think it will be over in a few days. Maybe after tonight's clue, Ares and THX can give their opinions on when a good time may be.
I looked at the main thread here, and it looks like things slow down quite a lot a little after 1 PST. I think I'm just going to push it til then, when it seems most of you are asleep. Hopefully we can then still get done by the morning for the east coasters.
I think that would work. I think especially so tonight. Tomorrow is Monday, and a lot of people will have school and work tomorrow.

I just saw the last clue. I don't know the area at all, but that clue seemed pretty pointed.
Oh yeah. Enough to have hundreds of people looking through a grove of trees in the middle of the night. You'll have to see the video from it when the movie comes out.
