It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

Man, folks shure drive MEAN around Phalen! Don't they know folks are reconoitering for The Hunt???
TO *my* unknowing eye, there doesn't seem to be much park there... Lots o'golf course and lake, but not much park park...
And can I tell you?
Coming home I *thought* I was heading east on 94 - drove all over St. Paul!!! - until I hit Mpls!!! ROFLOLCOOSBAG!!!
And I'm thinking *I'm* gonna find the Med!!! I'm laughing so hard over this concept, tears are running down my face!!! I mean, I can't find my way home, but I'm gonna find this small blue plastic puck buried in snow? I don't think so!!!!
And it looks like it would bee way too easy for folks to stumble into Keller... Because one park runs rite into the next. And THAT'S in Maplewood!!!! No go there!!!
Just got back from the big 3 (Ph, Co and Hi), Don't count out P & H as there is enough parking and alot of ground to hide the Med.
The only reason I drove through Co was to witness the excavation of the frog pond, and guess what, for the 1st time in 19 years of searching there was not a soul digging there.
I think that we all have the 1st clue blues. I reserve the right to change my mind, but Hi is my choice at this point.
Just back from our first day drive-around. Checked out Phalen and Highland Park. Seems like a few medallion searchers are out wandering around Phalen, especially around the small island where the Ice Castle was built a few years ago.
Nobody's out at Highland. There is a fair amount of space around the disk golf course where they could hide it.
I had to do a bit of digging just in case I stumbled upon the right spot. Anyone know the earliest the medallion has ever been found?
There is no diversion there, they will not hide it in a park that it was hidden in within the last 3 years. They never have and I don't see why they would start now. Plus there a lot of activities going on at Co this year they won't risk a fluke of someone kicking it up.
Just a thought. It's the 150 anniversary so my little brain was thinking. I looked back at the previous hiding places and saw that 15 years ago it was hidden a Newell and hasn't been there since. Maybe? Just doing the number thing
The update to Greg is done. I told him about the rehash bash when this is over. February 7, probably at 11:30am...site to be announced.
I think I remembered everyone that was there. If once it's up on the website, if there were any buddies I left out, please let me know...we will want to correct it.
It still could be hide in a park it was hidden in only some 3 years ago... in the 50's - 60's it was some 20 years apart; 70's - 80's the gap closed to like 11 years; 90's it closed down to like 6 years... Well, who says 3 years is out of line for a hunt that *makes* THE rules and follows non!!!!!!!
You have a point that they might sometime hide it in the park that it has been hidden in, within the last 3 years, but Co has so much going on this year I am going to say through my experience that it usually is not in a park where things are "happening".
Newell is small but has parking. There were hundreds of people out there the last time it was hidden there and parking was not a problem. But there is no golf course there to stay off of. I believe it will be Highland or Phalen. Como is too busy this year.
Yes Newell is smaller, but it might actually be at a smaller park to throw us all off. Knowing that the turnout will point people to a larger park. And the clue could be telling us there is no golf course at the park.
Newell is pretty small. Homes are located on three sides of the park. After the last time it was there neighbors were upset because of the damage the park sustained. I don't think it's big enough for the crowd that will be out for $10,000 this year.
Phalen, Highland are the frontrunners in my opinion...(on day one)...
KKK-ZZZ CAT WOMEN Do you think your cat could sniff it out??? For sure no-one would stay around us....we'd have the park to ourselves. I was waiting on your call.
The Cooler Crew includes everyone who posts in any of the Water Coolers. *Some* of the Cooler Crew also meet in real time and these meetings are called Shoot the Breeze Live (STBL).
Everyone* is invited and welcome to attend STBL events. It is so much fun to meet, put a face with the online names, and laugh, talk, eat, drink, just plain have fun and get to know each other.
The meetings are always advertised at www.coolercrew.com, which is *your* website location for Water Cooler news and information.
The webmaster (whom weve NOT met yet) is a guy from Milwaukee who volunteered to design and implement the site, and who has been working diligently to get as many clues from past years on the site. Several Coolerheads have helped by researching and typing clues.
Mom Press/Mom Planet printed up t-shirts that say Coolerheads Prevail and announced that they were available at the Pioneer Press building. Unfortunately, they have run out of shirts, but were hoping theyll find the rest of their supply and announce that they are once again available.
Mom considers all of her Coolerhead children to be members of the Cooler Crew, so Id encourage you to take advantage of the information on *your* http://www.coolercrew.com> Water Cooler Website.
It works! Great post there Eags! Hope everyone takes advantage of it and bookmarks it for future use. It is being updated on a regular basis so check back often.
I think that second stanza means something... Yup. Only got one on the first clue last year... Now, if it will only come to me in a devine revelation as I sleep (sometime *after* 11:30...)!
Man, folks shure drive MEAN around Phalen! Don't they know folks are reconoitering for The Hunt???
SHEESH!!!

Ittiz!!!! Join us sometime in "Shoot The Breeze With The Cooler Crew" Ittiz an untopied Cooler here.
Hey Green, did you get a little bit lost...???? LOL!!
PS: Phalen has a lot of area to hide a wee lil Med... lot of area!!!!
We're all going to get run over by the speeding traffic there!!!
They *were* cutting trees on the golf course part... And the tire tracks Wright's looking for are there...
'Member? They cut trees at Chair-O-Key last year!!!
You did find the right lake , it sounds like... remember, not in the golf course... and that is where the trees are being trimmed...
Let's hope they did not hide the Med on the roadway Green!!!!!
And it looks like it would bee way too easy for folks to stumble into Keller... Because one park runs rite into the next. And THAT'S in Maplewood!!!! No go there!!!
Anyone cruise Highland Park to see what's going on there???
Right O. It did say St Paul!!!!!
Didn't you SLOG Radar???? You BAD BOY!!!
Yup. Allie did. Seems like not much is plowed down there. Ittiz an eastern park... Just not northeast like I thought it would bee...
Battle Creek's more eastern, tho... Man, the next 6 hours are gonna bee LONG ones!!! LOL!!!
Did not mean that way Green... meant like if anyone was out there with shovels...
All that was at Phalen was dog walkers, skiers, fisherman...
Six hours.. I'll be in bed in some 4... got work tomorrow... ouch... will get clue 2 in the morn and noodle all day at work...

Anyone thinking Como...?
Clue 1 does *narrow* it down some... at least it's in St Paul...
Think if it were Ramsey County???
No Co, the slide is going to take up too much room and parking. The army has takin over the park.
Nice *diversion* at Como!!!!

I my memory suits me right it would have to be the 6th clue and that was in 1995 when the three old ladies were shooting the breeze and kicked up.
It still could be hide in a park it was hidden in only some 3 years ago... in the 50's - 60's it was some 20 years apart; 70's - 80's the gap closed to like 11 years; 90's it closed down to like 6 years... Well, Bee must'a found The Med and packed up his tent and gone home if no one was digging in The Frog Pond!
You have a point that they might sometime hide it in the park that it has been hidden in, within the last 3 years, but Co has so much going on this year I am going to say through my experience that it usually is not in a park where things are "happening".
I'm with you, 'Hound!!!
Unless it *was* in The Frog Pond and Bee's gloating!
Newell was mentioned... Isn't that a titch too small?????? Gonna bee LOTS o'Diggers out there!!!
Hound... my mind is still looking... no doors are closed... nor parks.
Radar, I'll bet you a roll o'quarters ittiz NOT in Como!!! 'Hound's rite - way too much going on there.

A roll of *Quarters*... That is Very inviting Green.... By which clue will I have to bet with you?????
Eags - The link doesn't work.
Now, Radar!
I checked last year's clues at the Web site... And there was only *one* stanza to the first clue. All it told us was it was in a St. Paul park.
This year we've *two* stanzas......
Sorry folks, had a little trouble remembering my HTML code. The link is fixed now.
Well Green, A roll is a Roll... I'll bet with you. I too am suspicious of Como, but not ruling it out yet only due to activity...
Got a deal!!!!!
It works! Great post there Eags! Hope everyone takes advantage of it and bookmarks it for future use. It is being updated on a regular basis so check back often.
Nicely Said Eags.....
I think that second stanza means something... Yup. Only got one on the first clue last year... Now, if it will only come to me in a devine revelation as I sleep (sometime *after* 11:30...)!
