Anybody got any ideas of what the medallion could be in. Maybe the inside of a book binding?

hey the last 7 years the MEd has been in something white so it blends into the snow... i think this year it could be naked... colorful things will get picked up quickly

and they want this to go the distance... you know how many people would buy the paper and hit this website if it went to clue 12? we're already at 8000+ posts for

6 clues... last year only 9000+ posts for all the clues and the aftermath... this thing is getting HUGE

Fri, 01/29/1999 - 7:26 PM Permalink

Mushie- are you referring to L--------?

Fri, 01/29/1999 - 7:28 PM Permalink

the capitol is where 35e and 94 meet. the numbers 95 and 4. the saint paul tec college is studing the new, and the history museum is studying the old. I have a lot of

other theories about that area I was out there today and there were a few people out looking.

Fri, 01/29/1999 - 7:28 PM Permalink
Barton Fink

Longfellow's been brought up before... works for that clue but im havin a tough time with the other clues fitting the unsaid park

OK ICONOCLAST IS SOMEONE WHO PUTS DOWN RELIGIOUS FIGURES/IMAGES. WHAT BETTER THEN THE DEVIL. AND DEVILS DEN IS

IN NEWELL PARK BUT IS VERY HARD TO SEE AND IS NOT SMALL BUT NOT BIG. IT TOOK ME 10 MINUTES TO GET THERE MAYBE EVEN

MORE. THE SIGN IS VERY SMALL AND THE PATH IS COVERED WITH SNOW. YOU CAN SEE THE KS95 TOWER FROM THERE.

hey Dingo man....am talking to my sister on the phone and just read your message about your dad and we are cracking up!!! Sounds like he looked for the medallion

before there even was a treasure hunt going on! Hahahaha!! Just kidding....last year my sister and I walked over the dang thing and shoveled right next to it! I was

there when it was found!! Dang!!! So Close!!!!! I was right next to it!!! With a dad like yours dingo...we will have to say a prayer for YOU too!! LOL!!

I'm not buying everyone's theory on the 'yearning for something worth yearning' bit. I don't think this has anything to do with a school or a library. It is a lefthanded

reference to something totally different. We need to think of something that is yearned for. I can't think of anything. How is the word yearn used in everyday life?

Anyone with me here. I think this is big.

Barton, look to clues from 1995. Some huge similarities to this years. Would lead one to believe its at the same park.

well as soon as the clue comes out if it even refers one little bit to newell im there. Ive been in and around every part of newell today. WOW! much bigger then i

though. and like i said devils den took a while and nothing was touched there. Maybe i was the first and only one there. Have fun trying to find it cause i think that it is

there

Is there anyone here with any real concrete ideas

Fri, 01/29/1999 - 7:38 PM Permalink

Hey Rock! Look up the word devil...he is an evil spirit the ruler of hell...a temptor...an iconoclast is one who seeks to overthrow traditional or popular ideas!! Stick

with THAT not the destroyer of religious images. No Fever and Barton ... it is NOT Longfellow...sorry .... clues point to a park where it has never been!!!

Fri, 01/29/1999 - 7:38 PM Permalink
sharon w

An iconoclast is an "attacker of established ideas and usages" , says nothing in the dictionary about being against religion specifically. Although an icon is a "religious

image painted on a panel". I think you are thinking too hard on that one.

Actually...Websters on-line dictionary does refer to an Iconoclast as one who destroys religious artifacts and beliefs...

The Rock-is Devils Den a small forest type place in one corner of Newell?

hey Nick East....you are right...that is a BIG clue but you are wrong about it not being related to LEARNING.... it IS!!

Fri, 01/29/1999 - 7:44 PM Permalink
Nick East

Didn't anyone have anything to say bout my yearning idea? What do we yearn for??

Fri, 01/29/1999 - 7:45 PM Permalink
Fever has begun

Go back to the beginning of the water cooler-you can get clues for any previous year. clue # 7 from 95 says" Consider a place to learn as you try to discern-

blah, blah, blah." Sounds like clue # 5 from this year. That would make much sense of clue # 4, "studying the past and value in the new."

Fri, 01/29/1999 - 7:45 PM Permalink
Nick East

MushieW---I think the key is YEARNING!!! This is a big year, and they are not going to be that obvious. Get it.

Fri, 01/29/1999 - 7:46 PM Permalink

okay well then the meaning has changed since my dictionary was published..in 1976. But I still think it is a stretch to then go to the devil, which isn't even someone

you know exists.
