It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.
Well... Christmas is almost here and all us avid treasure hunters know what that means!! THE HUNT WILL BEGIN VERY VERY SOON!! I'm starting to compile
all of the past 20 years worth of clues... pulling them out of the Winter Carvival storage box in the garage. I noticed quite a few treasure hunters i talked with last year
here and in the parks didnt have transportation. Well... heres a transportation special for anyone needing one this year. 83 plymouth reliant...(33,000) original miles.
Excellent condition inside and out... doesnt need a thing. Great starter with new battery and new tires. E-Mail me at werentany@aol.com!! First $1600.00 drives it

I see everyone is starting to get "medallion fever". Remember to visit the web site at www.wintercarnival.8m.com to place your guess as to where the medallion will
be hidden. I'll be using the results from this poll as a starting point for the location poll during the hunt. Happy Holidays!
Are you kidding? I don't pass a park without looking for things and reminiscing about hunting there. I make notes of any new construction, statues, play areas or
anything else that catches my eye.
We were out going past Tony Schmidt Park today in Arden Hills. What a charge to remember that hunt! That was the year we darn near froze to death. I think we
spent at least as much time in the car getting warmed up as we did out chopping through the snow cover.
I was 9 years old when it was at Tony Schmidt Park! But I can tell both of you that i've had dreams of finding the medallion, but i've never found it in Ramsey
It was frozen through the warmer months, but www.coolercrew.com is about to heat up again now that the weather's turned. All the clues from all the years will be
up before December 23. It may not be as pretty as what's up right now, but it'll be something we can all use to help our hunting efforts. I will post here again when it
Sorry Jakey! I'm alive! Just busy with the holidays and all......and you know life! I'm still in for the hunt! Getting really excited! E-mail me and we'll start planning!
To hunt or not to hunt, that is the question. Whether tis sillier in the mind to suffer the cold and snow of a Minnesota winter, or to throw down shovels in the face of
Boreas' treasure and by ignoring, lose it. To seek: to dig; No more; And by a dig to say we find the medallion and the four thousand wonderful dollars it makes us
heir to, 'tis a consumation devoutly to be wished. To seek, to dig; To dig: perchance to find: aye, there's the rub; For in those wee hours what hopes may linger when
we have overturned the last virgin snow must spur us on. There's the respect that makes the hunt of so long life. For who would bear the burns and bites of wind, the
clues read all wrong, the know-it-all hunter, the pangs of fruitless digs, the treasure's delay, the insolence of Joe, and the spurns that the successful hunter of the
unlucky takes, when he himself might his job keep by going to work? who would shovels bear, to grunt and sweat under a frosty sky, but that the hope of something
afterwards, the undiscovered item within whose bosom the medallion resides, intrigues the will, and makes us rather bear those ills we must than fly to a place where
we would know them not. Thus treasure does make hunters of us all, and the native view of Minnesotans is sicklied over the pale hope of warmth and enterprises of
great size and wealth, with this regard close their doors and hunt in the name of the coin.
Don't forget to get your carnival button - on sale now for $3.00 each or a family pack for $10.00. And for crying out loud...register it! Prize with the registered button.....$10,000!!!
Oh no, THIS is my year. You might say "all the planets are aligned" for my particular situation. Specifically, my work schedule is ideal --on it's own, not through any manipulation of mine. Also, I have a cooperative crew here who have been pretty much dead-on with clue interpretation for the past 3 years. Also, I calculate that the prime evening for searching will fall on my birthday this year. So, I've got that going for me...which is nice.
Hi, fellow hunters. I haven't been on-line for a month or so, but I just heard the award is $10,000 again this year. Thanks, Mom!!!! Just ordered my Treasure Hunters Guide - thanks, Steve. Hey, Freight-Train-Jim, are you on line yet? If so, e-mail me. I've been looking all over Apple Valley for the buttons. Mom, I'm really disappointed in the location of distribution. No SuperAmerica or Snyder Drug Store in Apple Valley has your buttons!!! Will try Rainbow Foods tomorrow. Heard also that the supply of buttons is being limited this year. Has anyone heard that rumor? Anyway, now that the hunt is only 4 weeks away, my excitement is surpassing last year's excitement and it hasn't even started. Hope everyone had a great New Year beginning and I'll be wearing my "Treasure Digger" button out there while digging so make sure you say "Hi" if you see me.
I haven't heard anything about them limiting buttons and can't imagine why. The buttons are a fundraiser for the group that puts on the Winter Carnival so I imagine they would want to sell as many as they can. And the only reason they offer more money if you have a button is to encourage sales of the buttons. Perhaps the distribution process has just gotten off to a slow start. I heard that the hunt will start the night of the 22nd, so it may actually only be 3 weeks until it starts.
Oh, and there's a good chance you'll be able to recognize me by the fact the only hat I seem to have that fits my head is my Renaissance Fair Cavalier hat, so I guess I'll be hunting in style.
A few weeks. I can get the photos anytime.

Starting? I thought medallion fever was a way of life!
So it isn't just me? My family will be glad to hear that there are others out there with the same addiction.

Everyone got your Hudson's or King's Atlas's ready?
Scribe- Did you get my message? Also, I got the St Paul Parks, A Treasure Hunter's Guide today. It's a great book, and should help considerably.

Wow. Mr. Allison, you are the true king of the cooler. Looking forward to your postings again this year. --Glenn
Why thank you. Only one word of warning though. This year, I'M GOING TO FIND IT! (hehe)
What? Are they hiding 2 medallions this year, because I am the one that's going to find it.
I'm finding it good morning all Y2K JOE!!!
I'll find it of this I have no doubt. The bigger question is will I know it and not throw it back!
Let the 2000 hunt begin!!!!!!!!!!!!

I usually find the medallion, and then put it back!
I think I'll keep it this year!

Grab your ice pick and warm up your hoe,
Clean off your rake and hope for light snow.
The dawn of the mellenium brings with it great cheer,
'Cause the Press is dishing out another TEN G's this year!
If adventure and sluething fit you to a T,
You'll probably bump into the Woman and Me.
We've hunted for years without any luck,
But this year we're gettin' that darn little puck!
Like Aaron last year and others hence past,
The thrill of the hunt will always last.
Good luck to all who take part in this game,
Maybe we'll all get ten minutes of fame.
