Good morning everyone! I've arrived at work nice and late. What's the buzz today. Scoped out a bunch of parks last night and quess what...the gates were left open at Phalen. Hmmmmm
There are several parks with merrygo round type things.. prosperity has one
LL I dug at several parks Beaver lake, come, valley, marydale, Iris phalen prospect, I uaually do a close drive bye and thing dig for 5 mns early in the hiunt to get in diggin shape..

Here are my thoughts, for what it's worth. Is it possible that the Medallion is Valley Park. I Know that VP is in Roseville, but the rules state that "The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt medallion is hidden on public land in Ramsey county. Here's why I think it's Valley Park.
1. In clue #2 thre therence to "circular" only refers to the fact that the medallion is round. The rest is just garbage to throw us off.
2. Clue #3 talks about East & West, just more more stuff to confuse people. The Important bit from this clue is the word "depressed". A valley is a depression.
3. The "man of steel" refernece in clue #5 is definitely a rereference to Superman. One of the actors who played Superman was Christopher Reeves. We know he "mettle", just look at all he has gone through, talk about courage! Christopher Lane, is located at the NW corner of Valley Park. Clue #5 also tells us NW that the medallion is hidden in a Dove Bar ice cream box. referring to the "peaceful bird" and "boxed" inside.
As for today's clue, I'm still figuring out how to make it work with Valley Park. I'm not too farmiliar with the Roseville area. Can anyone see how today's clue helps?
This time last year my husband was out at Newell digging. As a matter of fact, he was at Newell on Thursday morning with only about 4-5 other people digging. Not that that matters much since he didn't find it, but the clue writer(s)are definitely making this year a lot harder. Unfortunately, if they don't start becoming more clearer on their clues, we're still going to be guessing into next week and there just may (may) be a year it's not found. That would be a sad, sad day in medallion history. I want so much to be digging tomorrow with the confidence that I'm at least in the right park. Much sorrow is in this digger's thoughts.
I've been sloggin so much thoughts around that I'm at the point of thinking it just might be at the PP office, in the receptionist's desk, inside of a Dove soap box.
SUre Pryzmsphere, Not many big parks what do people make of this line A man of steel cannot be real But another has plenty of mettle Look for his name around our deal And you'll be in very fine fettle
looking for a statue of a courageous man, or a street name? any ideas, this seems to be the main helper for which park so far. At least i think.
Jazz, I thought steel = McKnight, which divides Battle Creek into its east and west portions. Man o'mettle - Larry Po, twice mayor o'St. Paul and writer for St. Paul Press-Dispatch, or whatever it was bock then.
Also, deal backwards is "lead" which a newspaper man would follow.
"The prize is at a place with lots of space" "Where riding around can be fun"
These 2 lines do not necessarily have to relate to eachother - it could be a play on words. But to answer your question New Daddy, with a space shuttle I would assume.
Joe!
does anyone know if any the parks still have those old metal merry go rounds anymore?
Thanks, green.; been busy with sick kids, so I am on and off Cooler and may have missed some postings.....
I used to LOVE those merry-go-rounds! Now they'd make me ill!

prolly thought too dangerous anymore

South, sorry to hear about the kids. Yes, I could see where that would keep you from being able to go thru 8XX posts!!!
Nensea, what time was this? The gates open at Phalen?
do you need a login and paasword?
Clue 1 clearly states that it's hidden in St. Paul proper, not greater Ramsey county

It'll be found, Digger, have no fear
Hey Duck- Valley is DT STP
I agree TD....still many possible answers...AHHHHHHHh
I've been sloggin so much thoughts around that I'm at the point of thinking it just might be at the PP office, in the receptionist's desk, inside of a Dove soap box.
Leah! According to the "freinds of the parks", www.friendsoftheparks.org/valleypark.htm, it's in Roseville.
Nansea, what time did you see the gates open at Phalen? What time did you drive by?
lol...that wouldn't surprise me!
The Valley I know of and went to is on Jackson & Uni next to Franklin Magnet
"The prize is at a place with lots of space" - lots of space = UNIVERSE = UNIVERSITY AVE
Green, I was there about 10:00 pm. It seems to me they usually close at dark.

mncheeta how do you ride around the universe??
Fumduck,
Have you read clue 1?
Fats
Valley Park is probably in Roseville
Valley Rec is in St Paul.
Fats! I see now the "Our beloved St.paul" I guess my name fits!
deal can also be dale?
"The prize is at a place with lots of space" "Where riding around can be fun"
These 2 lines do not necessarily have to relate to eachother - it could be a play on words. But to answer your question New Daddy, with a space shuttle I would assume.
What if the Medallion is actually on a lake "lots of space", where "riding around" would be the bike paths.
I read "lots of space" as not only in the terms of area, but also as "empty" space.
"off base" could mean "off the park" and on the lake.
Fats
Could "lots of space" be a parking lot?
Cheetah - I like your University/Lots of Space thing! Maybe the place where you ride around is just NEAR Univ. ave.
Maybe Valley still fits. Haven't gone over there yet.
They would never put it on a lake
Nensea, I seriously doubt it. They're usually plowed...
The parking lot thing is good too - so many good ideas!!
near a parking lot, prolly, not IN one
Snake,
Prove it.
Fats
Pretend the metal type statue clue is accurate, can anyone help me with some known statues in a large park?
green- I heard there are two merry go round at Battle Creak, one on the school playgroung, and one by the the rec center
