Terry--that's why I was not on the Como bandwagon right away. I figured that the medallion wouldn't be across the street from everything else. But, at least I thought the clues were better this year.
I got the BIGGEST kick outta seeing you post(s) tonite!!! You really got me smiling!
Glad you're gonna make Sunday. If I forgot to tell you, The Re-Hash Bash izz a fam kind'a affair. Spouses and kids (even toddlers) are more than welcome! Come early, stay late and eat like you've not for a month. Bring a dish to share, your own plate/utensils and whatever you'd like to drink.
Compliments o'Trent and Jackie, Mom's gonna rent some kind'a heat thighys... Something like a tree with a hat on it?????????? If we get lucky and Hollywood shows up, we'll have a water balloon sling shot - that's fun!!!
So glad you decided to come. The Re-Hash Bash is open to all Diggers, for re-hashing this year's Hunt, closure, and just a good time with those of like obession. We'll have a great time!
Sounds like lots of folks are planning to attend the rehash bash! Good deal!!! I have yet to figure out what we're bringing to share - but I will figure it out eventually. Maybe some Dove ice cream bars! That would be fitting. Remember too, lawn chairs might be in order unless you wanna sit at icy benches to dine.
I, did not get a chance to introduce myself with all the commotion. But I will be at the bash, Sunday. really am dissapointed in the meannings of these clues. Am I the only one?
When my husband was a boyfriend he would write me cards and sign them Love, Me (you know how they change when you marry them and now you rarely get a card)
Admission for General Public is $8.00 and includes the After Party at Jitters (205 East Hennepin Avenue)
Cooler Crew... Please call Jackie and Trent at 612-676-2147 (their voice mail) and let them know if you'll be attending so that they can put you down on the guest list!!!
Ian, DDY, Inks and Ter, and Jake, they've got you down already.
Also!!! See the review of "The Curse" in the most recent City Pages!!!
Me,(here I go talkin to myself again!:) I really think the explanations can't possibly be asa simple as what mom press published,if so we'd still be in the wrong park!!
I really want to go to the curse but I kinda promised the hubby that we would do the $9 subway deal for dinner and watch, ooooh, Survivor and ER. kinda getting personal already on here but I feel like I know so many of you already. I know many of the Cooler Crew and sounds like, Camo Crew too will be there tonight.
Me, We're gonna have to miss it too.Our daughter has a b-ball game and I have clients after that.I got kinda backed up during the hunt, happens every year.
I think they can, and that they are as lame as they appear. I do think that the COMO clue, coupled with the east west thing, the trolley, and hints of the carousel, the softball fields, and the playground were enough to let people guess the general area it was to be found in. What I didn't like was that the clues were so vague that they could fit most anywhere. They weren't like the "trees in a line" clue or the "line of double division" where once you figured it out, you knew you had the right answer. Circular thinking, as it turned out, was used in a way that really could have applied to any park in America. East and west was a bit more useful, but still awfully versatile. Open spaces, riding around, and allusions to softball didn't narrow it down in any sort of definitive way either.
And then there were all the clues that referred to things that didn't exist! Where Beulah lane used to run, trolley tracks that are long gone, and the underpass of a bridge that's no longer there? I think those were unfair clues. And then there was clue 5. Going through the whole spiel about the bird of peace, and the box and being buried under the snow to make us THINK we knew what it was buried in and thus believe the rest of the clue was relevant to figuring out the park. That was just mean.
my daughter played with Jake Inge x girlfriends daughter at same daycare. and I caught up with the Camo crew and Scott and a couple of the guys names i can not recall at the moment-last year.(which ended way too soon). My neighbor knows Maureen and her brother (Cherokee Park winners)-- Also, went to high school with Greg Sax and Whale Time.

boy, allisonwonderland, would I have a earfull for you. I really had a twist with ideas for all of these clues!!! we need to hook up at the bash. You would not beleive what these clues could have and should have meant!! I wouldn't exactly know how to explain over the computer with all this typing and such. I need to learn to use that voice command system.
Ah, looks like Me2 has come to the point where she must learn the difference between being a lurker and poster. Posters aren't allowed to use the "Refresh" button. To get new messages you have to go to the post number after your name. Click on the one in blue that is underlined and it will give you that message plus any new messages that follow.
ok, ok. here we go...I am one of those who reads way too deep! BUT, keep in mind that I feel if you are to be a "riddler" then make it good. and...I also believe that St. paul is extremely historic so the game should be too.
clue #1 also --- game "ended too soon" at Newell so why not try it again?
Duel --- Battle Creek
Keep on your toes--hunt until June -- toes = 5 or 5th June = 6 or 6th hence between 5th and 6th st. (Mears or State Capitol)
Dig elsewhere and you'll search infinitum --- on and on, timeless --look for a clock or Mear in the dictionary menas Boundry (so if you are looking on and on then you want a park with a boundry).
What I would like to see personally is for the like the first or second clue to be something that sounds bizarre and makes no sense at first. Yet, if you get to the right spot, it suddenly clicks and you KNOW that's what they meant. Then the remaining clues would be to slowly narrow down the options as to where that spot might be.
For example, to use something I misinterpreted a couple of years ago:
Two theoretical places, taking up equal spaces Where snow and ice rule the land, Will show a sign of value at their bases And help put the treasure in your hand.
clue #2 ---no need to destroy as you deploy -- could be battle creek but--Mears park is kittycorner from the army reserve place and Sibley was a general in the army? hence- Sibley St. at Mears.
I hate this next part!!!--staying away from golf corses and statues--well then don't put it in a park with them in it somewhere! They did that last time it was at Como.
steer clear of all private ground -- Mears is a dog park which has private grounds for the dogs all over. Steer clear also could have been at Iris park with steering the car around the park and Como too driving around the lake and Battle Creek telling us to stay away from the playground while kids are out playing (I know this one is far fetched).
But what I'm saying is none of those interpretations have anything to do with the West Picnic Grounds at Como Park, so they couldn't possibly be the intended interpretations of these clues. And that is what I am arguing with, the idea that there are more explanations than what get printed officially.
better place to sleep dave?
Terry--that's why I was not on the Como bandwagon right away. I figured that the medallion wouldn't be across the street from everything else. But, at least I thought the clues were better this year.
Yes Ares--plus you can't see TV very well, which would have been good, and closer to fridge and leftover food in kitchen.
Well, good night, all.
night dave.
Night all...I'm heading for the bed too. SCDs!!!
What up ya'll, any body here? Damn, I missed Crappy! oh well.
well, i'm here j, but i was just about to head off to bed. you gotta work on your timing :)
I'm here and gone all in the same breath. I need to get down to the press to pick up that last clue. I know I'll just find it this year!!
See ya :)
HOTEL CALIFORNIA
Music by Don Felder & Joe Walsh
Words by Don Henley & Glenn Frey
On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy, and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway; I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself: this could be Heaven or this could be Hell
Then she lit up a candle And she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor, I thought I heard them say
"Welcome to the Hotel California such a lovely place (such a lovely place), such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California Any time of year (any time of year)
You can find it here You can find it here."
Her mind is Tiffany twisted; she's got the Mercedes bends
She's got a lot of pretty, pretty boys that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget
So I called up the Captain Please bring me my wine
He said "We haven't had that spirit here since 1969."
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night, just to hear them say
"Welcome to the Hotel California, such a lovely place (such a lovely place), such a lovely face."
They're livin' it up at the Hotel California What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise) Bring your alibis
Mirrors on the ceiling, pink champagne on ice
And she said "We are all just prisoners here, of our own device "
And in the master's chambers They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives But they just can't kill the beast
Last thing I remember, I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before.
"Relax," said the nightman," We are programmed to recieve
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."

Do you dig with any of us on here?

Time to do house and kid stuff.....
I'll check back in a little later.
For all of you going to the screening tonight have a great time! Kudo's to Trent and Jackie!:)
Besides, what else would be in these clues that they didn't say?
my daughter played with Jake Inge x girlfriends daughter at same daycare. and I caught up with the Camo crew and Scott and a couple of the guys names i can not recall at the moment-last year.(which ended way too soon). My neighbor knows Maureen and her brother (Cherokee Park winners)-- Also, went to high school with Greg Sax and Whale Time.
Allison,as we have dicussed I agree with you completely!
It felt good gettin that off your chest, didn't it?:)
Me,
St.Paul the world's largest small town........:)

But how many of those twists can actually be applied to where it really was?
thanks, i will figure this out eventually. been only able to watch for 2 years and now get to play.
ok, ok. here we go...I am one of those who reads way too deep! BUT, keep in mind that I feel if you are to be a "riddler" then make it good. and...I also believe that St. paul is extremely historic so the game should be too.
clue #1--- our beloved st. Paul ---- Galtier or the cathedral or the capitol bldg. or somewhere in St. Paul not Ramsey Co.
clue #1 also --- game "ended too soon" at Newell so why not try it again?

absolutely, yes, I agree
