... and thx ahd his rubber chicken, towel, and rubbing alcohol. that and this weekend will consist of much work, and alcohol comsumption to accomplish the former task. you really wouldn't want me around :)
I think I only have one thing of value to contribute to the filming--I'm only three years into this with never much time to devote to the hunt (except last year when I took the week off from work to do so-only to have the medallion found before the week even started).
Anyway, this is what was significant(and probablly unique)for me:
I got a fortune cookie Saturday night which read:
"What's hidden in an empty box?"
YIKES!! Everyone else got one about sentimentality, honor or truth. It seemed blatant to me-especially since when the cookies were being handed out I asked for the one that would help me with the medallion. Not that it helped...Next year I think I'll consult my ouija, runestones, tarot and ummm the I Ching.
Actually I've only been doing this for three years mostly, with a limited participation four years ago, so like 3 and a half years. At Conway, I wasn't working at the time so I had plenty of time to get into that one. Since then I put other things on hold and endeavor to put as much time as I can into it. I wish I could have taken work off, but that wasn't really an option the last two years.
And oddly enough, I don't really have that many stories that involve myself. Mostly I know other people's stories. I suppose my most interesting story is last year because of the hunt I met a woman and we ended up starting a singles club together which has done pretty well. If it hadn't been for the Cooler, our club wouldn't exist.
I thought you'd been at this a long time. I don't feel so bad then. I better get a couple things done here before it is time to go. It is so hard to work on Friday (and monday, tuesday...). Maybe we could meet at the food court sometime for lunch?
Hey! Goodafternoon everyone! 5 days out and still withdrawls! Looking forward to a few warm drinks and a good steak grilled outside in February! aaahhhh.
Ok then, I go there sometimes for lunch anyway. I may be busy Monday, but any day after that would be fine. I don't know if you're in my Yahoo club, but if you are there's a picture of me on my profile. Or perhaps we'll meet at the Rehash Bash?
It wasn't actually gross, but the actress at one point was eating steaks like they were chocolate (inside joke). Just seeing her pack away so much so fast made me lose my appetite for it for a while.
Allison Wonderland --- I tried several months ago to join your sight. I tried when the hunt began and also this week. (I have no luck with confirmation emails) :( I am signed up already with Yahoo because I check out the auctions on auctionwatch.com and sometimes buy through Yahoo. So go figure. I am still very interested in your bock hunts. Hopefully soon--look how long it took me to finally get into the Cooler!
Sent the invite via Yahoo. It should go to the email you have listed on your Yahoo account. If that doesn't work I can try sending it directly to your mail.
I tried to do that yahoo deal last year and I couldn't get it to work either. The bock hunt looks fun-when is that anyway?
Cluemaster, I'm the one from SPC. What do you do here?
AW, I'd like to get to the bash. There are a couple things I have on deck that may not go away. My son would like to see the actual "site" as I think we were digging pretty close on Sunday afternoon. If not, then one day next week? Can I get your email if I click your name?
Wow! It's already 2:00 and I'm scheduled to be interviewed at 2:30 at Landmark. Gotta go and shower. At least I can park at work and walk across the street. See ya
My email is AllisonWondrland@yahoo.com (no e in Wondrland). If you go to my club, you should still be able to look at the posts, even if you're not a member. And if you look at a post from me, you should be able to bring up my profile by clicking on my name. When I see your email, I can also try sending you an invite, but I believe you have to be logged in as your Yahoo ID in order to join.
will try again. Thank you. sorry about the e. coinkedinke -- i was training my computer to recognize my voice lastnight for a voice program and I had to read it-- Alice in Wonderland. Thought of that when I read about the unbirthdays you were discussing earlier. your just always in our thoughts. :)
Oh, and for the upcoming hunts, first there is the Schell's Bock hunt. I haven't been to that one, but its in February and is a one day thing, but its all outdoors in a state park or something. Then there the Fitgers Bock Hunt up in Duluth, also a one day thing, but this one is indoors. I've been to that one and its fun on the whole, though the hunt itself is a bit silly. Then I'm going to do my own hunt, which, like the Fither's hunt, will be in March. I haven't decided yet if it will be before or after though. Jake Inge and Derick Davis also talked about doing hunts. Jake said he may use my site to post his clues. I might also try to do the "Tour de Parks" this year. It got a bit ambitious for me last year, and being a n Aquarius I'm much better at coming up with ideas than following through on them. But the Tour de Parks is a one day hunt/road rally type thing. Its one of those point to point hunts where each clue leads you to the next placeand the next clue. It would give everyone a chance to see several St. Paul parks and hopefully would be fun and exciting too.
sign me up! did you see yesterday when I was talking about who I knew? Jakes x girlfriends daughter went to the same daycare as my daughter. We run into eachother all the time--shopping, kinkos, winter carnival stuff.
did you ever read or hear of Kevin Bacons -- 7 degrees blah blah blah book? anyhow, that is soooo true here in St. Paul. I constantly meet people that already know someone else that I know or knew at some point in my life. "Could write a book"; sigh :) that saying goes with ... "all I'm saying is..."
If you want to hera a funny story, the woman I know from the St. Paul Co. is divorced. I met her after her divorce and never knew her husband. Last summer I started a singles group and in the fall this guy joined and I got to be friends with him somewhat. He was interested in a woman in the group which is how he got in it. Then about a month ago we were at an outing and for some reason it suddenly dawned on me that his Yahoo ID was probably his first initial and last name, and if so, it was the same last name as my other friend. So I asked him if he was related to her and he replied, "I used to be." It was her ex husband! Not often you get to know a divorced couple without first thinking of one of them as "the bad one" because you met the other one first.
They say on average, there's probably about 1000 people who you can say you "know" in that if you saw them on the street you could recognize them and greet them by name. Now each of those people also knows a thousand people. Without considering duplication, you've got about half the city covered already in terms of a "friend of a friend". Take it out to 6 degrees and you can probably draw a connection to most anyone on the planet.
No window for me-I haven't worked here long enough for a window. I do get to look out the window at the Cathedral at our montly meetings. I am in the south bldg.
too cool! so we already know eachother. :) we all will be like old friends at the rehash. Thanks for the story, I read it twice. by the way--I live on Alice St.
actually, where you by any chance downtown for the paper with a cousin on Sunday night and had two dingy girls waiting back at the park? I actually finally got through!!!!!! YAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! I feel free!!! I am now, officially-- a member of your websight!!! Yahoo-Wahoo!!! I saw your picture and you looked like a man that was down there that I talked with. We were at the front waiting and talking with Bud.
I only know a few people here (in and around my POD), but I'd be willing to wager that one of the few is the one to connect us. It is just the wayitis. I think I will be changing my name seasonally now that you mention it.
Ares, God of War is afraid of a scribe and her little ole pen?
Very good. Sorry that clue was so lame. What is this initiation? Or is this privileged information?
... and thx ahd his rubber chicken, towel, and rubbing alcohol. that and this weekend will consist of much work, and alcohol comsumption to accomplish the former task. you really wouldn't want me around :)
Only the initiated know the initiation and its 255 steps. Mwah ha ha ha.
Actually I work at Ecolab so you're not too far from me. They're also going to be doing filming for the documentary today at Landmark Center.
I think I only have one thing of value to contribute to the filming--I'm only three years into this with never much time to devote to the hunt (except last year when I took the week off from work to do so-only to have the medallion found before the week even started).

THE food court? In the Wells Fargo building or the World Trade Center maybe?
Hey! Goodafternoon everyone! 5 days out and still withdrawls! Looking forward to a few warm drinks and a good steak grilled outside in February! aaahhhh.
I don't think I'll be having any steak after watching Jackie and Trent's movie last night, hehe.
Wells Fargo. The world trade food court has dwindled to maybe one or two vendors. I haven't been out of this building during lunch for over a month.
Actually I have a friend who works at the St. Paul Co., but she works third shift I think so I'd bet you don't know her.
Ok then, I go there sometimes for lunch anyway. I may be busy Monday, but any day after that would be fine. I don't know if you're in my Yahoo club, but if you are there's a picture of me on my profile. Or perhaps we'll meet at the Rehash Bash?
eeeeewwweee. thanks for the pleasant thought. I didn't make it last night.
It wasn't actually gross, but the actress at one point was eating steaks like they were chocolate (inside joke). Just seeing her pack away so much so fast made me lose my appetite for it for a while.

Hmmm, maybe if you give me your Yahoo ID I can send you an invite and maybe that would make it easier?
and to think I was going to bring some Dove heart chocolates on Sunday. Well, maybe just stick with a hot drink and good company.
Hi AW - I work at SPC at night as you might know. What are the initials of your friend that works down there?
Yahoo is sarahandbeans
my email address is sarahandbeans@aol.com
thanks for trying :)
Her name is Janelle, last name S. I think she works at the help desk.
Downtown or Woodbury?
Sent the invite via Yahoo. It should go to the email you have listed on your Yahoo account. If that doesn't work I can try sending it directly to your mail.

oops. I'm not Janelle s. Sorry.
North, south or both?
Both - You there now?

Sounds like fun-I've always wanted to be driving around town crazy like in "It's a Mad Mad World!"
did you ever read or hear of Kevin Bacons -- 7 degrees blah blah blah book? anyhow, that is soooo true here in St. Paul. I constantly meet people that already know someone else that I know or knew at some point in my life. "Could write a book"; sigh :) that saying goes with ... "all I'm saying is..."
I wanted to go hear the Bacon brothers (kevin the actor and his brother) band. It seems like they were actually supposed to be pretty good.

Snow - You by a window? North or South?
Good story AW
Snow - Just asking cause I'll be the guy running late from the north entrance to Landmark in 10. See ya

Maybe come summertime you'll have to change your ID to "nowindowview", hehe
Well I already know my connection to nosnowflake. The person I know at SPC must know someone else there who knows her.
But now I wonder how I might know Me2?

If it was you---I was the one who could put my feet inside your boots with my boots on.
That noviewwindow thing is goin'on. I laughed when you told us you had no view. (note -not at you) :)
