thx, i'm almost ready to leave. (for a while anyway). you'll say you like the cable modem until all your neightbors decide they want it, too. come 7 in the evening when their kids are downloading all the mp3s and porn they can get their hands on, you'll beg for the speed of a 56k modem. i love my dsl, and you'll be prying it from my cold, dead hands to get it away from me. that's the one criteria i have for moving anywhere. gotta be within 15000 feet of a co.
I had cable modem at one time and had no problems with it (Awesome DL speeds). But I hear what you're saying. I connect pretty well with my DSL anyway and it's cheaper. Or at least is cheaper than what I was paying for my cable modem.
Well since tomorrow is the weekend, there may be some street parking around. I know there are spaces on Wabasha in front of Ecolab which is only two blocks away. Maybe there is some closer too. Otherwise there are ramps around, but you have to pay for them.
I used to live by Mears Park, there's almost always parking by there. AND then you get a chance to walk around downtown on your way to where you're going.
Unfortunately by Mears park its quite a walk to Rice Park for some people and personally, once done down there, I need to run off elsewhere and don't have time for a long walk back. Still, I can't think of anything less than two blocks away. Hmmm, where do people park when they go to the Ordway?
Hiyall - If it isn't the Winter Carnival, you can almost always get one of the spots around the perimeter of Rice Park. And I have gotten into those spaces during the carnival as well. I suppose it would depend on the time of day.
It would be so nice to work downtown. At least it seems like it would be nice...
Allison - we'll talk when I see ya. This is a small, small world.
The deal for tomorrow is that we have things going on from the time we do the interview clear through till after the parade. No time for a leisurely stroll through the downtown neighborhood. We'll be doing that for the parade anyways later.
Working downtown has good and bad points. One bad point is that you either have to take the bus, who spend your first hour each day working just to pay for the parking. And if you do take the bus, you can't leave work whenever you want. There is a lot of stuff around, and its all within walking distance, but it seems like it tends to cost more on average. All in all its ok I guess.
Yeah - I would have to work for one of those companies that pays for the parking, or I'd be out! Could never afford it otherwise. Taking the bus could be an option, cause it stops almost right outside my door.
But for now I work in Burnsville. Don't see that changing real soon.
I've worked in both downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. There are more people in DT Minneapolis and fewer dead spots. There's something fundamentally wrong with downtown St. Paul, though I don't know if anyone has figured it out yet. Maybe its a combination of the buildings not being tall enough to support a lot of people, not enough cheap/free parking, and their goal to create a lively retail scene there. You can't have the last one without at least one of the first two.
and my opinion of minneapolis is that its fine, as long as you don't have to go on the other side of the river. between there and golden valley and st. louis park, it can all rot for all its worth :)
Is anyone planning on bringing a gas grill tomorrow, or using the charcoal ones that are available? We have a gas one that would be available, if anyone would like to grill on it....
doh, get back from como, and get msg locationed change. oh well, little too much party'ed anyways. anywho, when is the parade tonight?? i might not make the parade tonight:(, my friend really needs me to do her a favor, so im torn. but ill be at the re-hash bash tommorow for sure!!
For those that don't know, the plan for the parade is to meet in the lobby of Mom Press at 5. Parade starts at 6. Check the front page of the Pioneer Planet for a map of the parade route. Ittiz like 4 blocks long.
So, if I show up at 5:00 in front of the Press Building, I can march? Hmmm...sounds too easy. I have a group I am supposed to bring to the parade, but they are all adults, so I am torn. Haven't been in a parade since High School--1984
Same here Ares - As you can see by my previous post :(
I gotta get out of here and go home already. See ya

Are you still at work?

:-)
Allison - I cannot believe it. My sister works for Ecolab.
Thanks for the parking info.
I think I've finally figured out what to bring to the rehash bash...something circular, something noodling, something nutty.
Tomorrow is a busy day. I suppose I should get my rear to bed here.
Goodnight and SCDs!!!

Who's your sister Terry?
Well Allison, you could always pay for it.
Parking in a ramp that is. :-)

I never wanted to work downtown. I used to do child care for folks that worked at various spots around there...and the parking costs were obnoxious!
"It would be so nice to work downtown. At least it seems like it would be nice..."
D.T. Minneapolis?
That's for Scribe.
I never worry about parking in St Paul. Parking in St. Paul is never a problem like it is in Minneapolis.
If I worked DT Mpls., I'd get lost everyday! No thank you!!!
Goodnight x 2!

No, no , NO Noooooo!
Not Minneapolis!!! I don't even go there, unless I absolutely have to!

My work is done here.:)
Good Luck in the parade tonight to all of you! See you from the curb!
Downtown Dave - You best be marching with us!!!! None of this from the curb stuff.

Scribe- I wish it were that simple. You got the field narrowed down yet? Your work is far from over ;)
anyone ever tell you scribe that you're a trouble maker? :)
and the line is:
terror, chaos, destruction. my work here is done. :) wait. nevermind. :)
So, if I show up at 5:00 in front of the Press Building, I can march? Hmmm...sounds too easy. I have a group I am supposed to bring to the parade, but they are all adults, so I am torn. Haven't been in a parade since High School--1984
