2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

New Daddy

Here is a breakdown of the exact resting place as givin in the last clue over the past 10 years

4 times it was X amount of paces(divisible by 5, from 20-90) in a specific direction from a landmark ie 90 paces SE of slide etc.

3 times it was where you would line up landmarks or between landmarks, ie line up street address with line of trees.

2 times by group of trees or picnic tables (kinda vague)

1 time in field north of building (pretty vague)

oh and incidentally, scribe, jt, and any of my other doubters, step can vouch for me too. i graduated with his sister and he graduated with my brother.

Ares, Ares, Ares. You can't have anonymous people on a chat forum vouch for you! For all I know, they don't exist either.

Geeez!

Hey New Daddy, thanks for doing all the math. I was just thinking of that about 5 minutes ago. And AW had some theory earlier today too. And some great new song too.

If somebody has time it would be great if they could break down clues 6-12 over the past ten years like Bax-Man72 did last year for clues 1-5!! any volunteers???

Ares is probly Stepdog too, well in that case if he is trying to make up people to beleive in him without smelling, tasting, hearing or seeing-he could be Jesus Christ on here too

While I agree with Jake that Mears is a small park, I'm not sure if it was really the smallest. Definitely not the smallest by far. I'd say Irvine gives Mears a good run for it's money, and I think it may be even smaller. I was only there once though so it's hard to say for sure. It's a cute little park though.

Prove it! Prove Irvine even exists!

ok, is West St Paul still Ramsey Co? The smallest park in the state is on the corner of Smith Ave. & Bernard St. called Albert park.

Oh Oh I'm getting deep and the hunt hasn't even started yet yikes!!

dakota county, me2.

no.

Besides, I think the question was what was the smallest park it's actually been hidden in. It was in Irvine sometime in the 70's I think.

Albert died back in the 60's as a child he drowned in a pond and this park was monumented for his memory.

oh, by the way AW-Jake is wrong a lot! He does it on purpose to be a goof. beware-but he is a fun guy to hang out with in moderation.

Irvine and Rice park are the 2 oldest parks in St Paul.

Thu, 01/17/2002 - 3:04 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

I'd believe that about being the oldest ones. Irvine looks like it's still straight out of the 1880's or so.

Where is Irvine park? (Don't have my map book) Is it the one at the end of Summit Avenue?

If it's the one I'm thinking, It is older than Summit Avenue itself.

I really hope they never put it there! the people who live around there are nothing but anal in their old age! I listen to it on my scanner and here complaints all the time about the parking and how they want people towed away because they are parked on the streets. One time a woman demanded that a car be towed because the day on the sign was that day but it was a holiday and the police told her they would not tow.- OOOOOOPS, got the spelling wrong on forepaughs-I guess I always think of foreplay when I think of that place. :)

I think I'll give a go at an analysis of past clues as has been started. See what I can come up with, if it will be of any use.

um, i may have been a little misguided earlier. according to friendsoftheparks.org, rice park is 1.61 acres, while irvine and mears are shown as 2. irvine must be bigger than i remember it when i got a pic of the snoopy statue there.
