2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

it's field, not a park, it's already been discussed about rec centers, if park isnt in the name, its no good.

I believe trek up and down every hill just refers to St. Paul and its seven hills.

Hmmm, not sure what you mean Medallion2K2 - when it was at Conway it was called a park, wasn't it?

what do you mean, it said a Saint Paul park in the fist clue, how do you know change it to a clue?

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:06 AM Permalink
Med2k

the official title of it is Conway Park & Recreation Center

A park is the spot but a golf course is not,

So please don't disturb a fairway or green.

Follow this advice and you won't be caught

Wasting your time at the wrong scene

from 99 hunt at conway rec center

hi all, Ok, is there a warf restaurant or street any where neer a park. I'm a star trek junkie, and the character Warf has some funky eye BROWS and his name is Warf.

All I am saying is that particular line means that you can search all over St. Paul for the Medallion. Not every line will mean something. They have to fill up space.

Liquor Lady

well I for one am going to keep an open mind, conway is also a rec and in the first clue it said "a park is the spot" so just because they say park doesn't mean it can't be a rec center.

jiggamatt

hey guys,"knit"-sock, sewed object,-work your brain-,(school, library) and hills, well pretty obvious but maybe alot of hills

Isn't it spelled "Worf" Diggin' Queen?

I have a starnge hunch that pin pointed clues won't be given util a lter date. Look at 95. They blanketed the clues before it actually was giving out information.

aight, ninjaz...im back. Drinkin gets me hungry, so i had to leave and go get a pizza...

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:10 AM Permalink

again, Park & Recreation center, not just conway rec center

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:10 AM Permalink

but if we have a new clue writer, all previous behavior doesn't matter as much pirate

Anyone know where I can find a treasure hunters guide, or are they sold out?

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:11 AM Permalink
rivvraft

hi all, TREK = Hiking ?

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:12 AM Permalink
Diggin' Queen

frost, yes, you are right. Worf. Still the pronounciation is the same.

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:12 AM Permalink
mr. pirates

Yea, but with a new clue writer, they will want to blanket the clues. Think about it, if you were hired as a new clue writer, or promoted, wouldn't you want to make it so hard that you basically have to wait until the last day to find it?

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:12 AM Permalink
maureen hursey

Yes, Regional park trails near the park.

What happened to Clue #1? Usually they list them all, didn't they?

Or am I having just another sleep deprived, senior moment?

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:13 AM Permalink
Frosti

I got mine at The Map Store in St. Paul. You can get them from there, or there's other places listed on the website.

Frosti

Greenie, click "Archive of previous clues" on the left hand side. It will show them all...

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:15 AM Permalink

Battle Creek Trail, Mississippi River trail, Burlington Trail, Gateway trail.

Pirates...it doesnt matter how hard you make the clues, ninja. Someone "finds" the medallion....they can find them on any clue, if they look hard enough.

So here are my current picks after the last clue. These are the most likely:

  • Hidden Falls
  • Highland
  • Battle Creek

And these are the ones that still have a decent shot in my opinion, but I wouldn't bet on.

    • Arlington-Arkwright
    • Cherokee Heights
    • College
    • Crosby Farm
    • Indian Mounds
    • Linwood
    • Merriam
    • Swede Hallow
  • Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:16 AM Permalink

I'm thinking it also needs to be by a library or school, otherwise there was NO REASON for them to put in the part about the brain.

    Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:17 AM Permalink
    Wicked Nick

heh...i wouldnt bet on Mounds either...it got pretty messed up last time...thats why the fences are there...I dont think they'd think about putting it there

The "time to kill" line is bugging me. Are there any parks where a large clock is visible?

    Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:19 AM Permalink
    tim_the_hunter

    highland park

    Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:19 AM Permalink
    Allison Wonderland

I think the part about the brain merely refers to the act of trying to figure out the clues.

I still like the area by the Hidden Falls themselves where there's a large winding stairway to climb.

Anyone think it odd that no clue with the phrase "avoid a golf course" was mentioned yet. It seems to me that nearly every year something is mentioned about staying off golf courses--( i know it is in the rules but isn't that true every year and it still gets mentioned). With that i am leaning towards Highland.

    Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:19 AM Permalink
    Frosti

Any time Green! Is this an official "senior moment"? hehehe

    Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:20 AM Permalink
    tim_the_hunter

Highland has the school, with the track(brain and legs). And is all hills.

    Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:21 AM Permalink
    Diggin' Queen

I kind of like Highland, It's big enough.(wont be found until they pin it down) the school's right there.(brain) And there sure are a lot of hills and it's on the outskirts of St. Paul(clue #1)

    Mon, 01/21/2002 - 12:21 AM Permalink
    ThoseMedallingKids

They don't need to mention a golf course if it says in the rules to stay off of golf courses
