2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

randy,

unless you know about it, and where to look, it won't interfere at all. Well, there could be a few more tracks in the snow.

I was scouting....I rarely dig until at least 6 or 7 clues...I was looking for the obvious...you can see the jail = time to kill...you can see the 1st bank sign = one....you can climb the hills if you want...not me...big park

Ok how about this.....

Clue 1... as usual states that the meddalion is hidden and in a St. Paul park... Nothing more than that.

Clue 2...knit means to cluster whether it is clustering string, yarn, or anything else as in knitting a sweater and brow is refering to the edge of a steep place...ie above your eye or at the upper part of a slope.

anyone see where I am going with this. one year the clue.. "Keep your eye on the old guy going by" was given and had nothing to do with an old man it refered to the devise used to lower boats into the river... double meanings people.

TOO GOOD...HELLO...lets hear your take?!!

For people who do both, it's a bonus to find a cache in the same park where you're medallion hunting.

Oh, and GREEN, the cache at Hidden Falls has some GREEN Mardi Gras beads.

CORNHOLIO...ding ding ding....scroll up bro....we hashed that....keep going what else you got....I am betting Arsehole/Cornholio same person??

King Boreas ------ If you are referring to the reversing of the type out of a black background, then, yes, your voice has been heard! I also happen to think you have a very good point about black on white being easier to read. Being able to actually read the clues is pretty darn essential to being in the hunt for the Treasure....... PS ---- Being King Boreas, are you EVEN eligible to hunt for the Treasure? If you are, then best of luck in this years hunt.

not the same just been trying to register for the last 3 hours but my user name was unaccepted.. sorry for repeating

I still think to that there will be a cluster of something... like trees or pick nick tables or whatever at the top of a steep hill. Not that it will be buried in a knit hat or whatever it was....

Once again sorry for the reppettiion

King Boreas ------- Either you have responded to the Reader Advocate twice or there are two guys who think they are King out there wandering around St. Paul. I also sympathize about the difficulty in reading type reversed out of a black background. The quality of newspaper printing makes this somewhat hard to accomplish......On a good day, it works well.....On a BAD printing day, its anyones guess what the clue is, was, will be.

Consider your concerns passed on if you were actually referring to the reversed type. If your email was actually provoked by something else, please write again.

nice white brand new shoes.. i don't know the brand -- they are in my car.. but let me tell you .. when i dug that bag with the shoes up, i thought i was holding the medallion. i looked inside the shoes and nothing.. my poor heart sunk. but i will find it in time. no worries. Cherokee seems like the right park, but that would be too easy. It's too small. I think it will be in a bigger park.. again my theory leads back to Battle Creek.. enough space to dig for days and days.

I say Cherokee....you say tomato

Hubby and I just got back from scouting at HF. They are filming there today - saw DDY, Trent, Green, Jake, etc.

Anyway, it would have to be around the parking lot area (zone1 and zone2) to be there. If you start walking the path toward Crosby there are no landmarks. Anyway, the clue could fit there if you believed you were not meant to climb the hills, because the hills around HF are large bluffs and not meant for climbing.

AmberLiteQueen

Was it true the medallion was found a previous year in a ball of YARN(knitting) at Battle Creek?

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 3:48 PM Permalink
Scribe

Lee,I hope it's not HF.....I like Mounds,Cherokee,ar anyother by the river better......course it's not as bad as Phalen!

Why the heck are they filming at a park so early? Whaddo I know about movies?

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 3:50 PM Permalink
krazy huntress

yes that is true!

The film crew is out at HF now? Cooler Crew is staking the place out. Ian was out there before, and I ran into THG earlier out there. Was out scouting it with Snow Mommy. Sheesh, I guess it's the early favorite?

The knitting the brow thing could be refering to Hamline(Hamlet)Just noodling

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 3:51 PM Permalink

They liked the look of the steps areas of HF. Anyway, the thing I don't like about HF and Crosby is that there is unsavory activity going on - if you know what I mean.

I was just thinking the same thing Scribe--why the heck are they over there HF.

We really had a nice walk - good exercise and pretty day - even if the medallion isn't there.

It doesn't feel like it is there. Jake thinks maybe Highland. Green thinks BC.

Count out hidden falls then....the park and rec department would have known bout it earlier!!
