Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.
I disagree, I think medallion is not buried in snow, but cleverly inserted in something like a log, hollow tree stump, steel pipe, etc. Otherwise the trip clue would be irrelevant, but it MUST have meaning
I love the horseshoe pit idea. This entire clue could simply be telling us it is by horseshoe pit in a park where you can see a radio tower, plain and simple. HMMMMMMMMMM.....I have a park in mind
Snowballs - yes it has been found underneath a mailbox by the capitol one year, early in one hunt it was found hanging from a tree branch, but that was found REALLY early. It has never been up so high where climbing (possibly injury) would occur.
the only airplane-related parks I can think of are Indian Mounds and maybe something downtown overlooking holman. Possibly the southwestern most part of BC down near pigs eye.
rush, yes a long time ago, it was at wakefield in maplewood, in a baby buggy wheel hanging off a street sign. they had to climb to get it. but that was a really long time ago.
They'll need to be clever not to use the 'dig-in-dirt' or 'peel-the-bark' clues so as not to awaken the idiots who take it litrally and bring out their back-hoes and chainsaws if it isn't hidden on top of the ground.
thanks Rush. I think it's a safe guess that it's *in something* but who knows what? They never leave it just laying bare in the snow. earlier I was keen on finding it hidden in something knitted, like a stocking cap or a mitten...
teddy, u talking to me?

sorry, that was directed at whoever doubted it was in the air...can't remember who
medallion is on the ground..
JAKES AT HIGHLAND
Good point Tom
ok
ok
I bet the film crew is too. Hope he finds it.
has it ever been found off the ground? Like in a tree above waist-level or something I mean..
Great idea to put it in a tree cuz the snow will be gone by Saturday for sure and the game would be done soon
I think the puck will be on the ground. it stated in an ealier clue about triping over it.
if it's on the ground its in dirt or clay and grass.
Something like that.
yes, it has been in the air a number of times.
I love the horseshoe pit idea. This entire clue could simply be telling us it is by horseshoe pit in a park where you can see a radio tower, plain and simple. HMMMMMMMMMM.....I have a park in mind
towers are most likely NOT linked w. this new clue. there are so few parks w. visible towers (newell, langford) and it wont be at either of those two.
keep thinking about the airplanes, and such.
Snowballs - yes it has been found underneath a mailbox by the capitol one year, early in one hunt it was found hanging from a tree branch, but that was found REALLY early. It has never been up so high where climbing (possibly injury) would occur.
or in a log, or under a bush, or under a garbage can, etc.....
They had to have some idea that there was not gonna be much snow dont ya think
what are we to make of tripping over 'the goods'?
What does 'the goods' stand for, do you mean? It is only 1 medallion.
the only airplane-related parks I can think of are Indian Mounds and maybe something downtown overlooking holman. Possibly the southwestern most part of BC down near pigs eye.
maybe "the goods" pertains to what the medallion is hidden in.
We don't know it's a medallion...it's a treasure hunt now.
Ian, wonderful point!!
rush, yes a long time ago, it was at wakefield in maplewood, in a baby buggy wheel hanging off a street sign. they had to climb to get it. but that was a really long time ago.
You can see KSTP from both Mounds and Battle, not to mention many other parks. If you can see the 1st building, you can see the KSTP tower
What do you mean, Ian - about not knowing if it is a medallion?
They'll need to be clever not to use the 'dig-in-dirt' or 'peel-the-bark' clues so as not to awaken the idiots who take it litrally and bring out their back-hoes and chainsaws if it isn't hidden on top of the ground.
thanks Rush. I think it's a safe guess that it's *in something* but who knows what? They never leave it just laying bare in the snow. earlier I was keen on finding it hidden in something knitted, like a stocking cap or a mitten...
Annie, it is now called the Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt 2002
I agree with that it is in something knitted. I'm thinking a newborns hat.
Don't the Rules state what we are looking for? Do you think we are back to looking for Treasure Chests?
Good point, Tom. I forgot they broadcast from downtown... I was trying to think of what park was near their studios eariler...
SOUTH ST.ANTHONY REC CENTER>>??
towers in view horshoe pits
Is the State Fairgrounds on public land? Did you notice the reference to "fair" in clue #4?
Didnt they call it a treasure hunt before they changed it to the Medallion?
Nitol! n goot luk
No fairgrounds, it's in Falcon Heights
The rules do specifically state the medallion must be turned in, however, it depends on what the medallion is in.
I'm pretty sure it can't be in the fairgrounds anymore
Yes Devil, I can't remember what year they made the change (me thinks it was in the 60s).
fair grounds not a park
Fairgrounds are privetly owned
Actually Devil, 1958 was the first year of the medallion.
brent, this is mf. im running out of ideas! not looking good...
isn't this the 50th anniversay of the hunt? (maybe the whole WC?) think they'd try to work in something clever with that theme?
running out of ideas??!?
don't the Rules state what we are looking for? Do you think we are back to looking for Treasure Chests?
Annie, Blue transparent puck not a Chest.
Snow, last year was the 50th anniversary of the hunt.
Highalnd, Arlington, Langford, Mounds, Como, Dunning, all are good possibilities
Well Rush just like you said return the Medallion is key there
