2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Fri, 01/25/2002 - 11:52 AM Permalink
Terry

Como Elementary houses a planetarium

Fri, 01/25/2002 - 11:53 AM Permalink
GeckoGrl

Planetarium sounds promising, but would they really hide it AGAIN at Como?

Fri, 01/25/2002 - 11:53 AM Permalink
Terry

If you think of the echo clues - if that's what they are, Como would have to come to mind.

Fri, 01/25/2002 - 11:54 AM Permalink
jiggamatt

maybe como, they do the unexpected every year

I dont know for sure, I just noticed it yesterday. Maybe try reading them backwards....... Latest clue first........First Clue last.........I hope it is in a larger park, if anybody thought there were alot of people at PP lastnight wait till tonight!!!!!!! also what would the PP be thinkin if 200 or 300 cars came storming up to a tiny park and getting torn to bits. I think it needs to be in a park that can handle large # of people. BC sounds cool but I suggest you scout in Daylight so you know where the boundries for Maplewood are..

Fri, 01/25/2002 - 11:56 AM Permalink

Fri, 01/25/2002 - 11:56 AM Permalink

the fields are also very rough as in no bases or backstops etc.

Fri, 01/25/2002 - 11:59 AM Permalink
GeckoGrl

I agree, but you know how many people would have to be institutionalized if it was at como again this year... I know me :)

Fri, 01/25/2002 - 11:59 AM Permalink
Terry

McMurray field is actually part of Como Park.

Fri, 01/25/2002 - 12:00 PM Permalink
Dart Head

Yes Terry and is a city of St.Paul parks and rec area.

Fri, 01/25/2002 - 12:01 PM Permalink

Fri, 01/25/2002 - 12:02 PM Permalink
GeckoGrl

My friend Golddigger is in complete denial about Como and won't go there to dig with me, if you ask me you can make pretty much all the clues fit.

Fri, 01/25/2002 - 12:03 PM Permalink

Anne Mcmurray fields all have backstops but no bases. Alot of that park is set up with ice rinks. I stopped there last night and I couldnt fathom it!!!!!! Thats almost directly where it was last year! (give or take 3 feet)!!!!!1

The general park area would fit the carnival hunter clue with the carnival rides....and the hunter's pride if that means lion.

McMurray has a small parking lot but most of the parking is on the streets. Like I say there is alot of possabilities fo MCMurray.

Wow I keep spelling McMurray Wrong... How does "tide" fit into Como? The LK>>? Hmm... Its kinda small.

Fri, 01/25/2002 - 12:05 PM Permalink
mrmnmikey

would deer signs have anything to do with hunters pride?

Fri, 01/25/2002 - 12:05 PM Permalink

Here is an excerpt from the Pioneer Press story earlier this year....Maybe it helps? Was thinking of "wreck".

These changes were brought about as the city christens a sparkling new impound lot on Como Avenue, closing the previous lot on Barge Channel Road. The new lot is across the street from the fairgrounds entrance, reports WCCO-TV.

Thanks, Terry. I have been floating McMurray for a while. That's where I dug last year before moving over to West Picnic Grounds. I have to admit that I can make the clues fit--but I am famous for making them fit when I wish to.
