2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Second cache of the day for mwmm15T, my partner & me. Hidden Falls park is one of my very favorite places! I grew up two blocks away and still visit to hunt rocks on the beach. Never hiked up many muddy slopes, and for good reason! Slipped and landed on an already sore knee so I have a bruise to remember the site by, as well as the Magna bass that I took home. I left a red star in exchange. The hiding place was great - made me very curious! We even saw a hardy kayaker heading out to the water. Not surprising considering the warm weather! Also found two plastic fish in the parking lot that I left at the next cache. Two down, one to go.

I can't wait for tomorrow. Folks will prolly call for The White Coats and put me in a straight jacket, but I think I know why this year's Hunt concluded when, how and why it did.

Ahhh...success! Three caches attempted, three caches found! This was a good hiding spot, can't imagine finding it with snow on the ground! We went to this cache specifically for those Corvette cards - proof that someone really CAN find treasure out there! I'm a rockhound and took the gold nugget and have since sold it at the gold exchange for $1.5 billion...naw...just kidding...it was pyrite! Left at dusk and did see a beautiful golden sunset. A fine end to a fun day!

Ares, do you remember the post about The Spotter that was seen at Como, on Como (street parking on both sides...), near McMurray (a highlander... "Time and tide, fun and slide), in line with the wading pool (lots o'space to amuse a tiny tot...)?

That was posted either late Thursday nite, or wee hours of Friday AM...

Hi all!

Green - you looking for me?

I drove up to the Rec Center this afternoon on my way home from my Mother's. Hard to believe it's over - but am feverishly looking forward to next year's hunt when things have to be better!

Hey all! Just got back from the parade with the little ones and thought I'd check in. We're still up in the air about the bash tommorow. It's a little short notice, and runningchick might have to work. But, in case we do go, is it bring your own plates/silverware/beverages/ect? Main dish/side dish pot luck?

Howdy, all. Good to talk to you yesterdee, Me2. Always nice to make new fiends!

Terry, never mind. But thanks for asking! :D

Frosti, you hit it rite on. Just as you say. Bring what you need to eat with, sumpin' to drink, and something to share - if you wish. This izz NOT mandatory.

Sat, 01/26/2002 - 4:44 PM Permalink
Terry

Frosti - That would be correct. Have something from which to eat and all that might need to shovel the food into mouths....you own beverages...and something to share.

I'm planning on bringing a couple lawn chairs too. With this weather, I figure we might be able to catch some rays. When was the last time we could do that in January?

I pulled out the recipe book and read it for 2 hours (just to find the right thing for tomarrow--I am bringing 1 dessert & one dish). while sitting in my jammies and robe and slippies :( not because I am warm and enjoying what is supposed to be an incredible record breaking temperature day but because we could not be out together noodlin and I am sad to not go see everyone again tonight, at least we got to hang out together last night even if it was not down at the PP

But I can say I got a palindrome--23132 :)

hi Green terry and all. Thanks for the reminder I would have left plates and silverware at home. It makes it easier seeing your posts knowing I see you during the next hunt.

OK, thanks for the info! Hopefully we'll be able to make it tommorow and talk with some folks.

Hi Me2! I'm toing and froing here. Should be froing more than toing, but keep getting drawn to this room somehow.

The good thing is that we have again met new folks and put more faces with names.

New Daddy, eating with your fingers is acceptable. We don't care - just be there.

I'm not doing or plan on doing a damn thing today. Gotta get out and do some more film work, but otherwise I just want to sit here with you guys that understand.

I just hurt so bad.

Hey Green, my sympathies go out to you. I can't imagine being close enough to hold it, and then having to give it away.

Some thoughts I'd like to share here now that things are quieter.

Many, many years, when the medallion was found, that was it. No one except ourselves to be disappointed with.

Since we have started this Rehash Bash tradition, it is soooo much nicer. I guess misery loves company - but somehow that seems to lessen the misery while we enjoy the company of others with like obsession.

Ya Green right there in your hand. I can't wait to see the exact place, I hope I wasn't as close as I think I was

I laugh when my kids think and sometimes say they "know it all" because they have no CLUE yet. no pun intended :) I truly learn more sometimes when I am not looking for it. This time, even though all that has progressed with this hunt this year I can say I learned so much in the past week about myself and some others (we will keep them nameless for now), I am a better person for it. I spent a lot of time alone this week which I talked to myself, and one minute I'm trusting myself and then the next moment questioning my own abilities. Then I was with old friends, aquantinces and new friends that filled my mind with so much information, not just about the hunt but to really get to know all of you, which taught me somewhat of being trusting, generous, caring, mean and just plain human. This is not always just a hunt for me but a learning experience of LIFE every January. (get teary eyes now)

Thank you everyone :)

Exactly, Terry. Last nite I told Trent while out filming at the fire...

Trent, I've got to leave. I need to be with The 'Crew. It is where I want and need to be.

And I left.

And you, all, are what I need now. Those that were out there with me, if not rite by my side. Those that noodled the clues with me, that shared the jabber and chatter while waiting down at the paper. That shared all of what The Hunt is.

I've nothing to share with you today but my anger and sorrow. I'm sorry to burden you, but know just reading drivel from friends and names I've come to know eases everything. I don't feel so befret.
