Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.
Allison Wonderland
Crowning achievement because everything else lacked cleverness. oh well, I guess it's the only path to the $10,000 which I could certainly use this year.
I am curious, I am going on a vacation the weekend of the 25th, I know this is a relative answerless question, but just want your opinions, what do you think the chances are of it being found by the afternoon of Sunday (the 27th)? How often has it been found before then?
I don't know Rushmore. I suppose you could go to the cooler crew site and try to figure it out. By Sunday afternoon we'd be on Clue #8. I guess I'd say in most years it hasn't been found by then. But then depending how much snow we have by then, it could go earlier this year.
Can you believe it, in a week we have posted around 2500 times, we still have ten days before the hunt even begins! I can't imagine what it will be at by the end of the hunt!
I agree Allison, the no-snow thing is frightening me a bit. I wait for these two-weeks and the thought of not being able to hunt, well saddens me to say the least.
Green, I know, but still, we've never communicated like this. When we started back in '98 with Chair-o-key, we only had 8,458 posts. I like how the community is going this year, thats' all.
I have a personal message for Sprydogg.... If you were the first one to accurately name the West Picnic Grounds in Como Park as the spot, where were you when Steve Worthman, Tim the Hunter, Marley King and myself were there digging Friday morning??? And incidently, I didn't see any evidence of anyone digging there before us, and as far as Allison goes, he was the first correctly name Conway as the park in 99, so maybe you should quit your barking and sit like a good boy!
Jake - very well said. And earlier, Allison, I liked your remark intended for Sprydogg. I would like to add that you know this is a relative close-knit community when Sprydogg made their unfortunate comments and I was defensive in support of Allison, as in, how dare you say that to him, for all that he has done over the years. I hope that we are able to avoid people like that during this hunt.
I think you boys are getting your testosterone up... You're wasting valuble strength, gray matter, energy, and bandwidth on something/someone o'no importance.
Well thank you everyone. I guess I'd like to point out that while there is a certain ego contest that goes on here about who can be the first one to be right, and I admit I take part in that contest, it's certainly not all that this board is about. So if someone like Tim wants to joke around about who had the upper hand the previous year, that's all in good fun. But I don't understand the motivation in getting angry over it or turning the message board into a nasty battle of egos. It's not really what most of us are here to do. It's not what I'm here to do.
Oh, someone wanted something to put on a T-shirt? Well most of you have seen this before, but here's my suggestion, hehe:
To hunt or not to hunt, that is the question. Whether tis sillier in the mind to suffer the cold and snow of a Minnesota winter, or to throw down shovels in the face of Boreas' treasure and by ignoring, lose it? To seek: to dig; No more; And by a dig to say we find the medallion and the ten thousand wonderful dollars it makes us heir to, 'tis a consumation devoutly to be wished. To seek, to dig; To dig: perchance to find: aye, there's the rub; For in those wee hours what hopes may linger when we have overturned the last virgin snow must spur us on. There's the respect that makes the hunt of so long life. For who would bear the burns and bites of wind, the clues read all wrong, the know-it-all hunter, the pangs of fruitless digs, the treasure's delay, the insolence of Joe, and the spurns that the successful hunter of the unlucky takes, when he himself might his job keep by going to work? who would shovels bear, to grunt and sweat under a frosty sky, but that the hope of something afterwards, the undiscovered item within whose bosom the medallion resides, intrigues the will, and makes us rather bear those ills we must than fly to a place where we would know them not. Thus treasure does make hunters of us all, and the native view of Minnesotans is sicklied over the pale hope of warmth and enterprises of great size and wealth, with this regard close their doors and hunt in the name of the coin.
Allison- Allison Wonderland 1/10/02 1:20AMThe treasure I don't believe has ever been hidden in two different things at the same time before
Actually there was one other time(that I know for sure) that it was in two different things. The last time it was at Como in 1997 it was wrapped in a red bandana in a Curad bandaid box.
Mainly a place that people can go to see current pictures of the parks, snow conditions(or lack thereof), digging activity during the hunt, and "pictures by request". We thought it would be good for people who live else where, or out of town - those who can't actually get out and dig.

Allison, I am glad to see you on the board again!

SCDs Allison and Jakey. Don't forget to make sure Cokes well stocked and a new fresh pot o'coffee on.
Huggers!
I understand that strategy. Just want to thank those who see past that sort of thing like Jake and Rushmore.
Allison, 99% o'us do. Only the shit-disturbers that are trying to yank your chain/all our chains don't see past it.
If you want to thank, then just thank. "Thanks Jake, Rushmore, green, whomever for being there/understanding/seeing past the jerks."
Otay.
Leaving again...

P.S. That's only my opinion, Allison. I'm not trying to direct, order, or command. You know what I mean.
Anyway, off to bed...
SCDs, Allison. Sleep the sleep o'the innocent.
night all to those who are going to bed. SCD's all around

Hmm both time it was at Como.
Did I miss everyone again?
I'm still here MK
Glad to see I'm not the only night owl
Been working on a website all day/night. My contribution to the Cooler Crew Community.
Hopefully will have up by Friday
Our first attempt at something like this, but it's a learning experience.
What is it going to be?
Mainly a place that people can go to see current pictures of the parks, snow conditions(or lack thereof), digging activity during the hunt, and "pictures by request". We thought it would be good for people who live else where, or out of town - those who can't actually get out and dig.
Ahh, gotcha. Sounds cool :)
It will probably be pretty simple at first, but hopefully improve with time and knowledge
Gotta start somewhere :)
Well back to work :)
