I agree with all of you! They only needed to issue 2 clues for this. Stoopid! They may have just as well tossed the thing down one of those 100 foot ravines in BC.
like, how stupid is it that the carousel was mentioned, then the next clue gets super specific abould the pool, sculptures, horton, and woods all at once. couldn't they have slipped that in earlier? it's not like como is so small that it needed to be reserved till the last minute. unless they were really worried that it would be found due to lack of snow!
don't get me wrong. i had a blast! this was so fun. it's only my 3rd year being part of this. i loved getting to know the crew, waiting at PP a couple times. all that. it's all part of the game!
all I can say is that I HAD A BLAST WITH ALL OF YOU guys the last several nights!! I am glad the hunt rolled on and on - nothing more fun than looking back and getting the 11th clue in the sandbox at harriet with Allison, TERRY V and marley and others and all staring at each other in bewilderment then mr trying to carry 10rakes shovels and such back to my truck to make the trek to como-
More fun was last night when the 12 clue came out and seeing the mass exodus out of the west picnic area parking lot - I never heard the whole clue before i boogied thus was in the wrong end of the woods when the med was found!! It was a riot seeing peeps lined up elbows to buttholes digging and raking frantically and makes really wish I would have brought a vid camera to capture it!! It was a ton of fun!!
The cops were actually kind of real arses in my opinion after it was found!! The parks closed - the medallion has been found - DUH!!
Hope to make some mock hunts and keep in touch with everyone!! I will see you at some point on sunday - i will bring mikey D!!
if there is barbed wire around the fire pit, that could've made it accessible by the first clue
There's lots of barbed wire around town. There was barbed wire at Harriet Island from the spot you could best see the Capitol "dome". Plus, there are several words in each clue one could possibly pick out as significant, and yet not all of them will be. So just seeing barbed wire somewhere wouldn't tell you that you were in the right spot.
And besides, I don't believe it was barbed wire, just a chain link fence.
very true Jaz, I guess mostly I like the intelligence of the hunt rather than the frenzy of getting it on the last clue. When it comes to a speed test like that, my chances of getting it first are drastically reduced.
On the other hand, if I can piece together the first 7 clues or so and get my location down, even if I'm not sure exactly what place I should be looking for, at least I have the satisfaction that I picked the area out well before the last clue where a bunch of people are tripping over each other to get to the medallion first.
I always thought my ideal way of finding the medallion would be if I put the puzzle together, go to the spot, and find it. No crowds, it'd be a quiet victory :)

So regarding my mock hunt. Just curious if people are eager for one soon or if they need a while to recuperate? I was going to start it March 8th, but I didn't think the hunt would go this long. Now I'm wondering if people may want to wait until April?
I always thought my ideal way of finding the medallion would be if I put the puzzle together, go to the spot, and find it. No crowds, it'd be a quiet victory :)
That's my preference too. My second mock hunt when I hid it at Linwood was actually like that. In the clues I actually told people *exactly* where it was, even by the second clue, if they could figure it out. Still ended up going to the last clue, though there weren't all that many people looking for it.
I intend to go and find the spot so I can make some sense of the clues.. especially if PP isn't posting the meanings soon. I want to get out there before the snow comes in tonight, so I'll probably go there on my way home.
That mock hunt on march 8 sounds good, though if you wanted to set it back to april it'd be okay as well. whatever the general consensus is, I'll make sure to go looking whenever you have it.
Hehe, I should go out to harriet tonight and pretend to still be searching, if someone asks me what I'm doing I'd just say "What, you think there was only one of those hidden, if you look at the clues this way, it means there's more out there" hahaha :)
what's got me is the red white and blue lovely clue thing.. ain't anything lovely about it, except that I can't see how it fits into the location or anything....
One thing I might keep an eye out for this year when I hit the parks is anyone standing in the woods looking around, you never know if it might be one of the clue writers figuring out how to stump us.
#1- in a park #2- in a st paul park. Go up the hill. (nearby peek) I'm not sure you could see the dome sign from the location #3- Fireplace, animal shelter, #4- go north. no idea for red white, blue #5- There are 2 paved paths at the fire pit. The 3rd is the bmx bike trail heading down the hill(north)they don't agree because 2 are paved and 1 is dirt. The great leap is the bike jump. #6- in the shade #7- bealah st. It dead ends and ends up a walking path. Also maybe estabrook(babling brooke) #8- anotherwalking path reference. Lure into the woods perhaps. #9- sport musta been bmx biking. Search for it by walking the path and talking the great leap? 10- car and horse no good on a bike trail. Round and round=como reference 11- horton-como-those woods, They are a bmx "course in the woods" #12- self explainatory. Be nice so no one gets hurt when the vultures swoop in!
I'm so happy I got to see all of you CC people again. I'm also glad that I got to meet more of you this year. This crew is getting to be a bigger and bigger family every year. Hopefully we'll bump into each other during the mock hunts throughout the year. As I've said before, YOU PEOPLE JUST PLAIN ROCK!! Thanks for so kind and friendly.
I gotta say those clues sucked untill #11. Even then I didn't think they would really put it in the middle of those woods. I kept thinking by the end of the walker trail.
I even walked north down the 2nd or3rd trail and thought that might be the leap (bike jump) but I turned with the trail at the end instead of continuing straight and therefore missed it. After #12 I knew where it was but couldn't get there fast enough!
I told that one guy with the southern accent my idea for the leap about 2am on clue #11 and went back out the next day and he was still there tellin' everyone that would listen about it.
I agree with all of you! They only needed to issue 2 clues for this. Stoopid! They may have just as well tossed the thing down one of those 100 foot ravines in BC.
Jazjae, Not those 2 old ladies!! Not to the finish, and not by using the previous clues to an advantage.
like, how stupid is it that the carousel was mentioned, then the next clue gets super specific abould the pool, sculptures, horton, and woods all at once. couldn't they have slipped that in earlier? it's not like como is so small that it needed to be reserved till the last minute. unless they were really worried that it would be found due to lack of snow!
I mean, who goes into those woods? BMX bikers, and sword fighting clubs.
don't get me wrong. i had a blast! this was so fun. it's only my 3rd year being part of this. i loved getting to know the crew, waiting at PP a couple times. all that. it's all part of the game!

Maybe they should have 2 hunts. One kinder, gentler hunt, and one you need to sign an injury waiver for.. hehe

I'd vote for recuperate. But my outlook may change after a night of more than 4 hours of sleep.
I always thought my ideal way of finding the medallion would be if I put the puzzle together, go to the spot, and find it. No crowds, it'd be a quiet victory :)

Corrigan has been a treasure hunter for 10 years.
Cool!
what a rush for the 3rd guy to have found it his first year hunting!
I bet he's hooked now!
I'm thinking it meant somthing totally different, like a sport thing.
yeah, pretty sure it meant the tennis courts
New Daddy, you are not actually going out there to look for it, are you?
Hmm.. think they must be joking about looking.
I intend to go and find the spot so I can make some sense of the clues.. especially if PP isn't posting the meanings soon. I want to get out there before the snow comes in tonight, so I'll probably go there on my way home.
Only wish I had my digital camera along with me, I could post a couple pics...
Sorry New Daddy, this was clue 12. You can't keep the charade up for long this year.
That mock hunt on march 8 sounds good, though if you wanted to set it back to april it'd be okay as well. whatever the general consensus is, I'll make sure to go looking whenever you have it.
March 8 sounds good to me for the mock hunt. That's my birthday weekend!
I'll feel it out some more tonight and on Sunday and then make the official announcement.
thought that the vultures meant that we should look down for dead things. vultures feed on dead animals where their bodies lay, on the ground.
Maybe they don't actually have explanations. Maybe they were written by monkeys with typewriters. hehe
Hehe, I should go out to harriet tonight and pretend to still be searching, if someone asks me what I'm doing I'd just say "What, you think there was only one of those hidden, if you look at the clues this way, it means there's more out there" hahaha :)
allison, I can see the monkeys banging on typewriters frantically now to come up with solutions to all the clues so the pp can post em :)
It seems hard to believe they would use a rocket in the trees in a clue. How could they be sure it would stay there?
what's got me is the red white and blue lovely clue thing.. ain't anything lovely about it, except that I can't see how it fits into the location or anything....

AND YES I WAS AT HI TILL #11
Weird....
not a good joe kcogrn!

I'm sure I'm in there somewhere!
what wasn't a good joe?
I told that one guy with the southern accent my idea for the leap about 2am on clue #11 and went back out the next day and he was still there tellin' everyone that would listen about it.
6666 joe (evil)
I don't think I was in that pic... I don't have a lantern.. well not this year, I intend to have one for next year though.
me either! I gotta get a coleminer hat so I can dig and see!
No 'splanations yet, hmmm...Were they the hear no evil, speak no evil hear no evil monkeys?
Here's a question I'm sure alot of coolerheads could answer. What kind of lantern would people recommend to someone looking to get one?
after the hunt was over was the most people I've seen on this board yet!
That's a fantastic pic! Unforgettable.
I can't believe they still don't have the clues up. This goes beyond simply not getting around to it yet.
