2005 Park Picks - Brought to you by Clue Master

Damn!  Nothing like your name in lights.  Sheesh.

We talked tonight about how to address the issue concerning hunters that wanted to still get into the Park Picks Pool.  What we came up with was to let PayMe pick a certain park that she wanted to 'freeze' that new guessers couldn't take in addition to her run on the lot after everything is closed before the next clue is given out at 11:00 later today. 

We have $135.00 in the pot as it stands right now.  Anybody can still get in on this board as long as they pick their park before tonight's clue and don't pick a park that's already been picked. 

Please feel free to use this thread to make your picks if you still want in.  Keep in mind that if you do pick a park in this thread, it's first come first served at this point.  I don't think there's too many that still want in but your first posted guess will be yours and costs $5

Access to this thread is limited until we close the guesses later tonight.  If there's a park you want go ahead and post away.  I'll update the list tomorrow.

No matter what does PAYME get rest of the field and the Hallow?

Yeah... it was something they came up with since she was the last one drawn in the deal at the PDG. Otherwise what do we do is all the parks are wrong?

I think that is more than fair because all the decent parks are taken.

not neccesarily Timmers - all the good St Paul parks are gone but not all the good Ramsey County parks- I think the last person shoulda been able to have all the st paul parks that were left but not the whole county. But we arnt able to switch our park name in this pool -like we usually do-so in this case it works out.

It did?  I seem to remember a lot of complaining on whenwe were to start listing the parks we wanted.  Every idea that was tossed out there from New Years day at midnight to as soon as it was found from the previous year, were shot down for some reason or another.  There was never any group decision on when to do it. The only idea that had any kind of group appeal was the picking of the names.  And the only time we could do that where 'most' of us would be together was at the PDG. 

I guess there are two things to consider here.  Well, three really, because you can choose not to participate at all.  But if you weren't able to pick your park at the PDG, you still can pick from the leftovers having the insight of 3 clues under your belt already where we didn't have that luxury.  The other thing to remember is that there was confusion of what to do with the $ if the park it was in wasn't listed.  The idea about the 'lot' (including Ramsey county) going to the last person picked was an easy fix and it gave those that were sitting around watching all the parks get picked something to hope for.  Although being able to switch your park would have taken care of that issue as well. 

As far as switching parks, that could still happen if you guys want it to. It's up to you.  We have a starting point anyway.  Votes?  It really wouldn't matter to somebody who didn't make it to this thread or not since they would have their park no matter what until they changed it themselves.  Then that would open up the park for anybody to take or who's already on the waiting list. If anybody has a better idea of how to handle this that would be the easiest and fairest to the majority of the people, please let me know.

I didn't mean it to come off where I think the way it was done was wrong or bad, I just think this is a fun idea and I didn't get a chance to join in at the PDG. The only con to doing at the PDG was not everyone can attend, whereas everyone checks in here.

If I had to make a choice on the best option to do it, you guys made the right call in doing it the way you did. The majority of people are in the pool and there is no sure fire way to make sure everyone who wants to be in to get an equal chance at the picks, so staying with status quo is totally fine.

I'll just let you know of my pick in 8 days ;)

That's what I thought too Tim and I still wanted to be involved.  But I also want to make sure things are fair.  Did anyone still want in?  You can post your guess until the next clue is posted at around 11:00 tonight.

I think regardless..... What CM said earlier should stick. He's been the one running this whole thing and no one else really stepped up to deal with it.

If things need to be changed next year then we can discuss it then.

Med2K, I don't think anyone will get upset if you do it by tonight. CM is running this show. He has the final say IMHO.

Another note.  Art and New Daddy asked for parks in another thread before this one was created.  I will honor their picks if they still want in.  I'm posting this just in case they don't know about this thread yet.  I know MK wanted in too but wasn't sure on his park choice yet.

As far as next year.  One change I would make is in the picking process itself.  Somebody mentioned that instead of someone picking each individual name, we just have all the people interested pay their $5 and pick a number from a hat.  That would determine their place in line.  It would still work the same but would be more efficient than picking someones name and then trying to track them down.  Big thanks to those of you who helped in the running for people at the PDG.  And to Jake too for documenting the picks.  Great team work!!

Thanks for setting this up CM.  Count me in.  I liked the idea that people at the PDG drew numbers.  Thatv seamed fair.  If I and other s could not make it then we just have to go to end of list.  I think the purpose of this is to see who can guess the right park first.  so I have no problem with people changing their park if noone else has it. I picked Ramsey fairgounds and will keep it until the word goes out that we can change.

CM - I trust you to make the right decision.

CM,  as far as my pick goes,  do what you think is the fairest.  If I end up with just the one park that is fine.  I dont want to cause issues:)

Next year if we can't make the PDG we should all arrange for some one else to do the bidding. They can give the $5 and you can just e-gram them prior to the PDG what your picks are. You'll just have to trust that person to do your bidding.

CM your doing a good job! I like your idea about the numbers at the PDG. Everyone can get a number even if they are not there (By having some one buy it for them) and then they can pick online or in person, in number order. As long as they all pick by say clue2 it should work.

 

I think we should let people in before tonight only and payme still keeps the rest exept what they pick. They cant pick her 1st choice though.
