2006 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Hi all hope to see ya tonight. I finally figured how to post here at ableminds.

This crusty snow could cause some hard diggin.

Do ya think they would try to hide it in the deeper crusty layer of snow, a snow bank, in the woods or just have it buried in thin snow but with hard clues??

I've always thought it would be funny to stuff it in the middle of a snowbank in a parking lot.

Great news for the PDG - the activity at the Excel is the Swarm and Roy Wilkens has the Vietnamese New Year thing, which gets over at 5pm. So that should make for a little less activity, better parking, etc.

The year it was at Chair-O-Key there was a hard crusty snow layer. We were on the top of the hill that went down to the diamond. The snow was so hard! I can't believe we just stood there chip chip chipping away at it, making very little progress. The med was found down the other hill to the west, where there was softer, deeper snow. So I figure best to stay away from the hard stuff.

The last three years it's been in the woods, right? I think they figure they're making the hunt harder that way.

the swarm is the reason we couldn't get the basement???

The night before it was found at Merriam, it was all that hard crusty ice. When the morning came, the sun was out and warmed up and everything melted, which is when it was found in the middle of the field.

I walked on top of it, I saw the spot later and the marks where I dug, that was the most disheartening hunt, for many reasons.

Damn people... I go to sleep for 4 hours and you done filled up the box with all these words.

BC could be a good choice this year. I don't think the trails will be in very good shape but I can always hope for snow.

I like the idea of clue specific threads, as long as we try to stay on topic in them.

I think I may use a straight bladed shovel to chop down through crusty snow.

might have to do less digging and more scouting this year.

the cc trails at bc are in good shape as far as I can tell (I'm not an expert)

very slick though, as I was slipping trying to get up the hills.

that was before the recent snow of a few inches.

personally- Ive had horrible feelings about this hunt since the new year began... and its proving true :frown: .... the way this year has taken off I think its bound to be in Cherokee

I dont get the paper anylonger but happened to come across this tidbit when I nabbed a paper at work:
