Recent Clues:

Clue #1 Congrats to the finder, to all a reminder
To hunt hard from first to last clues
Medallion I is history. Now a new mystery
Begins -- strap on your hunting shoes

To some its demented, for all unprecedented
But hunters’ thirst must be quenched
Tell sister and brother we’ve hidden another
In a park where a body can be benched

Our 2nd prize? Don’t laugh -- 10-thou cut in half
So get out there even if it’s snowy
And as a special bonus -- some might say an onus --
A meal with our own Clueless Joey

Good hunting to you, let this be the first clue
Think of a woodsy retreat
It won’t be so hard if you channel the bard
You’ll get warm and smell pretty sweet
Clue #2 If you\'re thinking big you\'re sure to dig
Near flora with growing pain
Winter or summer is never a bummer
A menagerie of fun wild or tame
Clue #3 Success on the third clue will never do
We had to stash a second
Round you go if you seek to know
Where swatters of orbs are beckoned
Clue #4: A walk in the park can be a lark
If cell phones are left at home
Heed the siren of your desirin\'
And do not revolt against this poem
Clue #5 Over hill and dale hit the trail
With a handy locating device
Fulfill your wishes like loaves and fishes
And put your victory on ice
Clue #6 A famous singer and a diamond dinger
Might put you oh so close to the spot
With the whites of your eyes you should look for the prize
Within this convenient plot
Clue #7 Don\'t turn up your noses at the city of roses
The home of the park that you seek
It\'s just north of town so come on down
Our hunt is not for the meek
Clue #8 Don\'t go mental just head for Central
Lexington Avenue will show you the way
Your spirits won\'t sag when you see the big flag
Into the trees you want to stray

Arden could be it. Isn't Tony Schmidt in Arden Hills?

Yes. That was the point of the wink. I was hoping others would also freak out when they noticed that.

No, he's buried at Riverview Cemetary.

Sorry, bad joke. My Grandpa-In-Law's name was Tony Schmidt. :goofy:

drawing a brain fart here. what's the other plant out there thats related to the rose that you'd never expect to be part of the rose family?

pbpt- it's like giving someone a 'raspberry'- sticking your tongue out and making a noise with it.

It's a friendly dis.

yeah well obviously the clue pin-pointed the puck, Funny thing is usually when they give you a street name they dont usually hide it right near that street.

There's also a Floral Park in Arden Hills. 20 acres. it has both "Nature" and various sporting activities listed as features.

No one posted it becuase I only knew it and left straight for the park. When I got there I realized that I wasnt going to be able to get down there because the gates were closed and I was in dress clothes from work. I told Jake my idea, who was well prepared and the rest is history.

I would guess that the 7th and 8th lines could refer to a memorial bench dedicated to a brother and sister.

The clue writers never admit that they give it away cleverly when the do and someone cracks it, but when it goes uncracked like the last time it was in hidden falls then they own up to their cleverness. Example

This is the start of something big... this was clue one that year and the PP admitted they were refering to Itaska which is the start of the mississippi and Itaska runs right into the park. That was obscure like cleveland and that was the first clue, yet this cleveland obsurity they take no claim on. I personally believe if the PP is that clever one year and admit to it and another when it's cracked they don't admit to it ...thensomeone is playing something off somewhere. Thats just my thoughts

I was curious because Randahl said "there are many other peeps who got cleveland/level"

yet I hadnt seen anyone actually say that.

So close so many years, I need to convince myself that it is easy to find and just go out there and find it. And please no-one get me wrong CONGRTAS TO JAKE. I am more driven than ever right now, everyone at work wants me to leave and go find the thing.

not all ideas from the feild are shared on the boards. Sometimes you just have to be there to know it. Thats why everyone is alwasys draggin around, they have trouble being everywhere all the time.

mrmnmikey

Personally, when I do the recaps, the only thing mentioned in there is whats posted on the boards to share. I hear all kinds of other theories in my travels, and I don't post them there. Just as Jake kept it secret in the park, so do I. Thats not saying I don;t share, but sometimes people do hold back a little. What they share, and with whom is their own personal business.

Just keep in mind BrassMonkey that there are many people out there that would want nothing more than to post or come up with the clue that ultimately lead to the finding of the medallion. THAT is their own version of finding it since they may not get out and look all that often. Even though the PP didn't mention that your noodle was in fact what they were driving at, it was what lead to the actual find. And THAT itself is a trophy for the brain. Be proud and chug forward buddy. I know that yesterday was draining for all of us, especially for you three (mom included), but things will be back to their normal crazy ways in no time.

Mucho props to both you and Jake for the way you represented both the CC & hunters in general. I was proud of you both.

everyone at work wants me to leave and go find the thing

Chop Chop!!

Now, some noodle time.

Not sure if it was mentioned but why couldn't it be in Hidden Falls again? I know that AW and many others have various versions of their clues when putting together a hunt. We always thought there were the snow/no snow versions anyway. Well now we do have snow so maybe they could use the snow clues for the same park?

in a year with "firsts", it wouldn't be a bad thing, necessarily, to do another one.

The PP Board is actually pretty civil today and they've got some interesting theories.

Having the 2nd one at HF might make the clue writers job a little easier too.

I noticed that last night and was surprised and wanted to comment on it over there but was afraid that some idiot would take that as an invitation to go crazy. :eyeroll:

I think we discussed that earlier? In relation to the new clue.

I know it's being talked about at the PP Board.

Oh yeah, in the for all unprecedented part of the clue.

There's a discussion going on now over there about the 5K run this Saturday along Shepard Rd to Mississippi Blvd. They've mentioned in in regard to the half 10 K split.

There is talk at the pp board about maplewood nature center and some of it makes good sence. Unprecidented=new hiding place?
Wed, 01/24/2007 - 1:41 PM Permalink
KC0GRN

I'm thinking being a lurker isn't so bad :ooh:
Wed, 01/24/2007 - 1:42 PM Permalink
ThoseMedallingKids

I was thinking earlier too that unprecedented could mean a hiding place where it hasn't been before.
Wed, 01/24/2007 - 1:43 PM Permalink
KC0GRN

Maplewood is rather strongly against any hunts in their parks. They don't even sponsor one of their own during the year like a lot of other towns do.

They're also VERY protective of their nature center, it'd be the worst possible spot to invite a bunch of hunters to go search.

I used to live near there and I know what you mean but I like the part of the mediallion being hidden in a new place=unpresidented.

FIRST THING I THINK OF WHEN I HEAR THE WORD "ROSE" IS 'COMPASS ROSE'
Wed, 01/24/2007 - 1:50 PM Permalink
KC0GRN

There are places in St. Paul it hasn't been hidden at. I'd agree, a shorter hunt would be a good opportunity to place the medallion in a smaller park and probably one it hasn't been to before.

Theres no way its in the maplewood nature center. I refuse to even consider it. Too sensitive.

when it was at Wakefield back in the 1982 there was so much damage done to the park that maplewood sued the pp for the damages.People tore up that park. One dude was arrested because he was sure it was up in a tree so he brought in a chain saw to saw down the tree. It was crazy!!!!!!! Anyone out there remember that year??? everyone thought it was Como until the clue came out "Grass that's not Sleeping" meaning it's awake = wakefield!
